Does he have to be famous?

Ok....well there was Christopher in primary school. I was besotted. He was less tham interested Frowner . At the end of school party my teacher practically forced him t dance with me..... Roll Eyes

Well there was Paul before that, there was no chance with him 'cause he turned out to prefer guys, as did the famous crush......Robin Cousins the skater. Well I was only 11. I was sure we'd be married, like...yeah Red Face
I think my first celebrity crush was Gary Numan. I saw him on a videotape that was playing in Record Bar at a mall. He was dressed in a suit and I thought he looked really good. The other guy I remember liking, though I don't know if it was before or after Gary, was the dude on that tv show Emergency. I remember my first celebrity dream was about him. In the dream I was taking a nap with my mom (this is just how young I was!!) and somehow a fire started on the floor at the end of the bed...naturally he came out of nowhere and saved the day!

Other than that, I did have a boy in kindergarten that was always kissing on me...we went "steady" in third grade and he gave me lots of his mother's costume jewelry! Though in second grade I had a crush on a different boy who didn't know I existed.
Bryan DeHart, fourth through sixth grades. He was the "bad boy" in class. Things were requited, which made square dancing class a lot more bearable. Wink (I was the first and only girl in fifth grade with boobs. He wanted to touch them and to kiss me...I was too scared!) Anyway. He sent me flowers for my birthday in sixth grade and it really freaked out my parents! Captain DeHart now owns his own boat and is a seafaring adventure guy, in the Outer Banks, NC...he's been on national travel shows and everything. That is both predictable and very cool. Smiler

(Many other very serious crushes in junior high and high school followed, but just about all were unrequited. And yes, Ingrid, I had that issue an unprecedented THREE TIMES where I had major feelings for a guy who turned out to be gay, including my prom date, my co-star in the school musical who played my husband, and some other dude who decided 5 years ago that he likes ladies after all...)

Celebrity crushes, hmmm....
*Harrison Ford/Han Solo, Star Wars.
*Peter Tork, The Monkees.
*Richard Hatch/Apollo, Battlestar Galactica.
*Jocko, the drummer on Sha-Na-Na.

(NONE of these would EVER match the fervor or intensity with which the Simon leBon obsession developed in the summer of 1982, though!!!!!!!! Apologies to my husband, but I'm not sure that one ever totally went away...)
My first famous crush would have to be Wayne Gretzky.......don't laugh!!!!!! I was only 10. (Actually, there was another famous crush i had when i was about 8, but you'll have to get me drunk to get me to admit it) I lived in Edmonton, where his greatness began. I was always so jealous when my mom got to go to hockey games and i didnt. Funny, I dont even watch hockey anymore......

My first 'love' was with someone who didnt return my affections. I was a slightly needy 18 yr old, head over heels for a 24 yr old musician. (A musician......Im soooo cliche) He was actually a really amazing guy who will always have a special place in my heart. Even though he was not at all interested in me (not that i can blame him.....did i mention i was needy?) he was really good to me. Used to jam with, and recorded some stuff with me on his 4 track. He also is the one who first got me to REALLY listen to music, and transformed my relationship with music forever. One band in particular that he was fond of was Crowded House, and so began my interest.... At least he set me on the right track in terms of developing my musical taste, even if he did break my heart into a zillion pieces. Not his fault, mind you. I was just a smitten young girl......
famous: davy jones....now that heidi mentions it, peter tork was cute too.

non-famous: binh nguyen. i think i was 10. i had it BAD for him. and for a few years, too, until i moved away at 13. my 'friend' at the time told him i like him, and he sent me this dorkoso note saying something like, "hey, it's too bad you're moving. we probably coulda hung out."

i kicked myself for a long time. heh.

of course, nothing ever came of it. i saw him once, YEARS ago, for a few moments at the mall. then never again. but i remember that he used to live right across the street from my best friend at the time, so whenever i'd sleep over her house, you know i got queasy from sleeping so close to the guy. (HA.)

i wonder whatever happened to him...
Liam Neeson is still pretty dreamy Xor (imho)...certainly nothing to be ashamed of. When I was in Grade 7, I really dug Tom Selleck...good grief...mustachio and all. *wuntie dives under her desk* Other choices did include the seemingly popular Gopher and eventually Heidi's Monsieur Le Bon (he was probably the first guy that I had lewd thoughts about...heh heh.) I also liked Alan Frew from Glass Tiger (yikes) as he never treated me like the dorky kid that I was (am). Smiler
1st real unrequited crush: Bobby Lampky, age 4. I told him that I loved him and he cracked my head open with his plastic machine gun. And He's one of the nicer ones.
The first serious "had to have a poster covering every centimetre of my bedroom wall" crush was with George Michael. Ah, how young I was!

A later (but still teenage) crush was Michael J. Fox... who I just discovered will be guest starring in two episodes of "Scrubs" in February! (Alex Keaton and JD together... no phone calls allowed for those two weeks!) Big Grin
Bobby Sherman, David Cassidy, then Donny Osmond followed by Tony De Franco! I used to buy all the Tiger Beat magazines and tape their pictures to my closet door! My brothers would then use pencil erasers and white-out their eyes in the pictures. Talk about having a fit! Man, that had to be like '71-72!

First crush was on this boy named Steve in 7th grade. I tried out for "Helen Keller" only to be able to spend hours after school hanging out with him. He along, with my prom date in '82 turned out to be gay, radar must've been off! My old roommate (after college), John, took great delight and outing just about every boy I had a small crush on.

"Emergency" is on mon-fri on our local tv channel! I dug the guys from "ADAM-12" as well!
A brief diversion into the off-topic world...

Red sweaters work well, even when you're older than a teen. Well, at least it did for me last February. Of course, snagging the prime position (right under Neil's microphone) and throwing mini Cherry Ripe bars to the band didn't hurt either! Big Grin

Carry on...

Hmmm I'll have to remember that for when Neil comes to Edmonton........
No one's mentioned this one yet--Mr. Spock. Yes, Leonard Nimoy was my first celebrity crush, and the infatuation was well established by the time I was seven. And, oh, did the kids at school tease me mercilessly. I so wanted to be a Vulcan...

Evvie

P.S. Xor, Nell was a *wonderful* movie. Thanks for reminding me of it.
I think my first celebrity crush was Quincy: Mr Jack Klugman!! Along with Gopher, of course! And yes, I was also the future Mrs. LeBon!!

In RL, my first unattainable crush was Todd Sands in 5th grade. He was super popular and dating Wendy Settles.....the super popular chic. Yup, I had NO chance there. Which is a really good thing, because he got uglier as he got older! Big Grin
