I'm sitting here listening to one incredible rarity song after another. Thank you Neil and the rest of the band and all others who were involved in putting these deluxe editions together. There are so many brilliant songs here that I've never heard.

What is your favorite song from the bonus/rarities material? At the moment, I'm completely entranced by the song "Bound To Rescue". How about you?

I've only got the debut, Together Alone and Afterglow, but out of those, it's Mark Hart's I Don't Know You which is doing it the most for me.  Hard to pick as I'm spoilt for choice.

A Mark Hart song? VERY interesting! Of the "new" discoveries, how many are not Neil? I'd assumed there'd be a sprinkling of Paul, but shocked there's a Mark song!

I feel like there is so much new material that one thread to talk about it is going to get very confusing, very quickly.  I am going to start a thread for each of the new reissues, this way those who are focussing on one at a time can follow along more easily.

For some reason the 'Reply' button on each post in each thread is broken. Have tried in three different browsers, but it just ends up 'liking' the comment instead. The forum never seemed to have these problems 15 years ago.

Anyway Camus, I had to laugh you choosing the Mark song as your favourite, despite there being around 100 rare Neil recordings released haha. Not a criticism at all, just a legitimate LOL moment.

Woo, thanks! Thought they were just options to report the post!

Have to admit, I Don't Know You is a great song. Would love to hear Mark on vocals a bit more. No reason he couldn't bring one or two songs to each album like Paul did. Wouldn't mind some Neil / Mark duets either. Or at least Neil could let him sing the occasional middle 8.

Mark has two solo albums. I got one song off of i-tunes, mainly because it is a collaboration with Tim, and I LOVE it. It's called "Something to Take My Mind Off of You". Very catchy. I would love to know how much input Tim had.

Mark has also produced and played on some of Tim's solo efforts. They seem to get on well together. Interesting considering they delayed Mark's joining CH in favor of Tim for Woodface.

After just a couple listens, my early vote has to go to "Fields Are Full of Your Kind"; can't get enough of it!

Fields is fantastic! Can't believe it was left off the album.

My favourite so far is I Don't Know You, which surprised me given that I'm not a huge fan of the version on Mark's solo album (although Something to Take My Mind Off of You is as catchy as anything Neil has written).

The other tracks from the York St. sessions are probably my other favourites, the rocked out ending of Spirit of the Stairs is brilliant.

Oops, I was just counting the never-before-released rarities. "Turn It Around" is easily my favorite of all the bonus tracks and one of my top 10 CH songs overall.

Mark does feature heavily on the middle 8 of isolation...

Always loved "My Legs Are Gone"  and "Anthem".  Longevity , still on my faves list.

Anthem ( along with you can touch)  ...how could either of them have failed to make an album at the time!!  baffling..

Convent Girls and Spirit Of The Stairs. I've been waiting years to hear the studio recordings and I'm not disappointed. I just hope that I can resist singing Convent Girls out loud. I suspect that singing the chorus might raise a few eyebrows! Honourable mentions to Anthem and I Don't Know You. There's a few more that I've not heard or only heard snippets of. It's generally the full studio rarities that do it for me though.

The world will forget that the first leak of "Spirit of the Stairs" was actually on an advance test pressing of Try Whistling This. And that version of the song recorded by Neil as a solo artist will always be the final finished version. It's also the best version IMHO. Funny that we now have two demo versions of the song on these sets now too. They're all enjoyable and it's fun to hear the song evolve over so many iterations. I wonder if the Neil solo version will ever get a proper release.
