Photoshop has some pretty cool ready-made lighting effects, but lately I've been working on creating my own:
Now that is some lightshow, if I may say so. Anyone would think I'd been listening to Pink Floyd.Wink
(singing)
When the partner's away
The obsessed fan will play
From morning til night
Cos she likes it that way

Big Grin
Best part, I can listen to my music, whenever I like and as loud as I like (within reason!)

I would liken you

To a night without stars

Were it not for your eyes

To a sleep without dreams

Were it not for your songs (Langston Hughes)

What else is love for

But to leave you wanting more? (Tim Finn)

And speaking of Pink Floyd: Way back in'94, when I was 18, unemployed and stuck in Tasmania, I read a review of a Pink Floyd show in Sydney. The weather was atrocious, but the fans marveled at the way the band's lasers lit up against the falling rain.
Hence my little animation.
About time you put something new up Affinity, I've been hanging out for more of your work Big Grin You've certainly gone above and beyond this time, so very very cool. Wouldn't it be be just amazing if discs had moving artwork like that as their cover, would've been very complimentary to Winter Lights, shine for me, reveal for me... ahhh... bliss.. Well Done Again Wink

Thanks so much, makes it all worth the while.I recently read a book about a film director, whom the critics said, "painted with light". I've been exploring that concept of late.
Can't believe I literally spent all day, finding a way for my "Close Window" button to only "burn" when one mouses over it. It was too distracting as it was.
Should the whole sequence be faster? Slower? More varied?
Tim doesn't have a big, flashy official website as far as I know. Imagine this as an intro screen....
I can see the whole diamond motif as an animated discography; Stay tuned! Smiler
I think personally it's moving at a good rate as is but if you were to do another one maybe do it slower to flow like a stream , a gentle change, depending on pic, that wouldn't work with the Molten Toothpaste artwork, know what I mean?
That would be terrific as a intro screen , even the molten toothpaste somehow. It would be cool to see a close up of Tim's eyes in the work you just did, seeing their basically the same colour; such inspiration Smiler
I think you should be in charge of next CD artwork... Big Grin

You mean this one? That is Finngirl's work -much as I would like to pinch it.

Yes, those eyes are the most beautiful I have ever seen -and I shall be seeing them TONIGHT!
YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW! Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin
As per usual, I haven't been able to sleep. Hope I don't have to wait for the 3am train.

Oh, me too!Wink
(singing) That'll be the day....oooh!
Now wait a minute, that's not the Buddy Holly song I should be singing on this wonderous morning, when the sky is the colour of Tim's thick wavy hair -bit of rain to remind him of home.

Stars appear and shadows are falling
You can hear my heart a-calling
A little bit a-lovin' makes everything right
I'm gonna see my baby tonight!
Big Grin

Ps: Bit of history repeating: (10th post from the top.)
Hmmm, good question. I would need to listen to the album, close my eyes and create whatever I see. If I already had something that fit the bill, all the better. I'd need at least a day to work on the lettering. Actually, you've inspired me again, you evil child! My partner's gonna kick my obsessed ass out again!
Say I were to use the "Glacier Coloured Eyes" image, what sort of lettering? Hmmm, leave it with me. Wink
Tried some stars initially, I thought the diamonds looked a whole lot better. I guess I could produce an animated gif of a diamond that becomes a star -or even 2 lots of twinkling images. Watch this space. Big Grin
Oooh Affinty, I am so not worthy, that was just breathtaking, the orange stars with the blue and the diamonds, sweet..Just for something different, how about the background without the cd, have Tim doing his thing in the sky as such ,and the diamond writing the signature across the stars,... that was well worth the wait... Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin
Have you seen a film called, The Music Lovers about a beautiful, tortured genious, by the name of Peter Tchaikovsky.
In one scene, they are celebrating his birthday and fireworks explode in the sky, forming a likeness of his face. I thought of doing something like that. Then I could have the diamond sign Tim's name in light... I like it!
Thanks for the respose. Smilerx
PS:
"Out of sorrow entire worlds have been built
Out of longing great wonders have been willed" (Nick Cave)
There are exceptions, but so much wonderful art seems to come out of suffering on the part of the artist.
Tim gave an interview circa'89 about a book he had read ( Mystery And Manners by Flannery O'Connor) in which it is said that one must fully confront one's dark side, before one can move beyond -and I guess, do what Tim is well known for; write a very sad song, which sounds uplifting.
That scene from The Music Lovers sounds perfect for your work... I agree the best work of all types of artists comes from the mouth of sadness, isolation, despair, I guess thats when the mind is most insightful, sensitive and inspired...
What are you doing typing anyway, off to work with you young lady, you've got more brilliance to design Wink
OK, got the pyrotechnics happenin, got a new initial sequence, just so it all looks as though it belongs up there amongst the stars: Seewhat you thinks.
Yes!!!perfect.Just watching all that makes me feel calm. I love the slow diamond introduction, the flick of the cd, the rainbow cd at the end with the diamond resting near the signature...just blends in so well together as per usual...next challenge should you choose to accept:underwater scene, maybe the Great Barrier Reef sorta thing...or maybe even at the beach, water is good.. Well Done and thank you for my viewing pleasure Big Grin
Apologies to anyone who has been viewing my page with Internet Explorer. Apparently there are things that Google Chrome (my browser of choice) can handle, which IE cannot. I have taken the site down, whilst I sort the problem out. Hope to have it up and running asap.
Ok, my site can now be viewed with Internet Explorer. A few timing issues still need fixing, when I have a clearer head. One advantage of IE is cross-fading in an animation, quite a beautiful effect.
Ok, I have been busy modifying my site for different browser types. It is still a little slow on Firefox, but fortunately it didn't require a complete overhaul, as I did for Internet Explorer. Statistically, Google Chrome is used by only 8% of the population. I hope it catches on, as it is the most problem-free browser I have used to date. Opera is next on my list of modifications for browsers and the code is a little more complex. Programming is all well and good, but I would so much rather be playing around with graphics.
