An old flame of mine has just released his autobiography. I don't feature in it. He hasn't admitted to anything post marriage, but Tim gets mentioned and so does Peter Green.
When I saw Tim's name, I thought, "Oh here we go!" The last time I saw this guy, he was quite insulting.
"I've always found Tim Finn rather annoying."
"Why's that?"
"Oh, well he writes crap songs and blah blah blah..."
I suggested we agree to disagree, but he kept going. I was reminded of the episode, where Butthead threatens Beavis, "You say one more thing about Metallica and I'll slam you in the..." I probably should have.
Surprisingly, in the book, he is quite respectful, just saying that Tim had scooped a few Countdown Awards for Escapade, including best songwriter. He said the songs on that album didn't seem overly complex, although the arrangements may have been. This taught a valuable lesson about not overcomplicating a pop song.
Peter Green was the manager of this guy's band, at the height of their popularity. Another mention is that the Enz were also on the bill for the EAT charity gig, in 1985. Not many bands on the day were in their full line-up, just the lead singer +1 in many cases. Did anyone attend that concert, or remember if the Enz were all there on the day?

I would liken you

To a night without stars

Were it not for your eyes

To a sleep without dreams

Were it not for your songs (Langston Hughes)

What else is love for

But to leave you wanting more? (Tim Finn)
