I've already mentioned this in the Split Enz forum, but today saw the launch of the NZ music website Audioculture. There's a nice little section about The Swingers: http://www.audioculture.co.nz/people/the-swingers

That's awesome! I just watched Starstruck for the first time in a few decades and it has held on pretty well and the Swingers were great. Check out their "new" single, "Certain Sound" that came out a couple years ago. They had magic for that moment.
I tracked down a DVD of 'Starstruck' a couple of months ago, it definitely has its flaws but it is still very charming. After watching it my daughter has become a fan of the soundtrack (I have the original vinyl, not sure if it ever came out on CD.) I think of it more or less as the second Swingers album that never happened. (And I'm sorry, but didn't Phil look great back then? *sigh*)
We also had lunch at the Harbour View Hotel this Mothers' Day! The bistro upstairs is nice but tragically they've ripped out many of the original kitsch art deco features that are celebrated in the film, especially the wonderful front bar
Interesting blurb, I've learnt something new about the other Swingers members. Who named the band?
The live concert video where the Swingers play an extended set including Phil (guessing 30yrs old at the time) doing Counting the Beat, is quite amazing to watch, and something I'd recommend for anyone looking for any glimpses into the driving force behind Split Enz...
