Hi Finnatics, I have been playing the very first CH album on my record player this morning and it is still so good. I just noticed in the liner notes that Jim Keltner(the great session man) and Jerry Scheff are listed as playing drums and bass on Now We're Getting Somewhere. Where were Paul and Nick when this track was being recorded and how come they aren't on it?

Paul and Nick were watching from the studio desk area . Apparently Mitchell Froome was not happy with the way the track was progressing and decided that he needed more of a swing or shuffle beat and so he brought in Messers Scheff and Keltner to do the business and they nailed it in a couple of takes . Although miffed at the time Paul said the he had learnt a thing or two. This is all in the book Something So Strong and I am quoting from memory.
Awesome, thanks for that UK Neil. I always considered Paul and Nick to have such a fabulous understanding of each other with their sense of whatever the technical term is but they had a great groove and balance in their sound.
Supplementary question... at the start of Love You Till The Day I Die is it Paul that does the shrieks at the start? My son always thought it was the coolest start to a song ever.
