What are the side seats live for Wellington and Auckland?

Don't know about Auckland Sam28, but Wellington TSB guess it's a matter of personal preference as to weither you want to be further back but facing the stage, or closer to the stage higher up but at an angle.

Hi folks,
How exciting!!! My 11yo son is a new fan of Split Enz, so I would love the excuse to take him on his first visit to NZ and also see his very first concert - Split Enz.
Unfortunately, I can't book tickets from work, so will need to go to an internet cafe tonight to do so. Do you think there will still be decent seating left for the Auckland concert?
Cheers
Andy

Oh so that meens your in Block 5 centre ? 30 something ?.

Sam, Vector is long and narrow(ish), so the back is a long way back! Of the two Auckland seats you mentioned, I think the first one is at the centre back and very high up, the second one on the right hand side and lower (probably the better one imho, but as the Visitor said, depends on your preference).
What are the seats in SBlock1 like at the TSB Arena in WElllington?
Hey, I just checked the Ticketmaster site and it's saying that tickets are unavailable. Could it be that Auckland has sold out?!

The site's telling me Auckland tickets are still available - maybe you struck a temporary glitch in the system?
Yes it seems you're right. It's letting me buy now (well look anyway). Damn, I was hoping for a sellout and second show!!!

Vector holds about 12,000, TSB Wellington 4,650 seated seems sales at Wellington have slowed, but rest assured the date will sell out soon.
In fact i will make a prediction that Wellywood sells out first as it did for C.H. months before the gig.
Got to say i like the promo pic that goes with the Split Enz 2008 N.Z. Tour, wonder when this was taken ?. Auckland prehaps when Neil was here, or ages ago ?.
So i guess the shows will be without make-up (Split Enz unmasked), hell after all they made their point back in the day.
Wonder if Mr T. Finn ever did pay Mr R. Finn the $50 he was fined by Rotary for his son having such a bad haircut back in the day.
Can't wait till March 2008.

Ok Thank You for that Stuff & Nonsense.
Makes sense.
Guess they haven't aged that much in a year or so.
Just wondering if anyone in perth (or anywhere for that matter) might be willing to split costs for accommodation/transport in auckland?
Haven't even got a ticket yet but figuring it will all fall into place...

I like that promo pic too. Hope it turns up on one of the tour T-shirts.
Yes that promo pic looks an awful lot like the ones for Enz 2006, sans Mal of course. Hmmm, fortuitous, photoshoped or indeed a new shoot with the same outfits (which were the same ones they wore when they were inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 2005.

I too think it was taken for the ARIA Hall Of Fame in 2005. If you have access to a programme from the Australian tour, there's a nearly identical photo on the centre page, with Mal between Eddie and Tim. I think he's been skillfully Photoshopped out of this one!

*sigh*
I guess god is a kiwi.
anyone feel like sending me a ticket to New Zealand? I promise to be good (mostly).

But seriously Zebrasnake there are still tickets for Wellingtion about the same location as i bought a week ago, there must also be tics for the other dates / locations ?.
Or is it the $'s, we could have a whip around, in fact are there any generous members with a gold or platinum credit card that want to be my friend, i could show you around the underbelly of N.Z. life.

Visitor you crack me up. I don't think it'll matter where you're sitting for the Welly show, you'll still entertain!

Hope all who are able to see the shows have a great time. I told my husband what I wanted to do on my birthday was to be in Christchurch for the first concert but alas there is no chance of it for financial and family reasons. I'll just have to be there in spirit and play my SE dvd.

It certainly looks that way. Which is a bit sad really, somehow. I wonder why Mal isn't coming along to the NZ shows, and if he couldn't make it, they didn't choose a drummer from the ranks of previous ex Split Enz drummers?
Weird, being photoshopped out of existence.

BRING BACK THE CROWTHER!!!!
Honestly, he's the most awesome drummer they've ever had.

Honestly, I agree. Brilliant drummer.
Couldn't agree more, why not Crowther, or just have Noel drumming since they had both him and Mal in Oz. I got the distinct impression that Mal wasn't wanted back by the majority. You certainly get those vibes if you read the interview with Tim and Eddie - not from Ed but Tim's there saying how they're the "tight" 5 who email each other, etc. A pity, I love Mal

Bring back Croth!
That will free up Noel to, well, be Noel!

The Enz have had a great string of drummers...Geoff Chunn, Croth, Mal, Crom, Hessie. All great guys.
Is anyone else finding it weird that they're bringing in an outsider to play drums?

I agree, Gav. It does seem weird. I would have thought that if they weren't going to have Mal that they would just have Noel. But, to bring in someone completely new is odd when there are so many other great choices from the past!
I agree with the both of youz,
Outside drummers, well I never,
But an outside drummer will let Noel be himself, however, so I would rather (if I was going to the gig, which I'm not
), an outside drummer than Noel at the skins, no offence to Noel's drumming skills.

i know! i love mal too. shame tim cant bury his pride, but in saying that, us fans want the best band dynamics!!!
I don't know about what might have gone wrong between Tim and Mal. Although it'd be great to have Crowther back instead, the Enz had quite a history of changing personnel at the drum kit. Any reason why we should ever look backwards only while the 'tight' 5 apparently don't?
There is a history of disagreement between Tim and Mal, although I don't think it's fair to say it's only Tim who might not want Mal in the NZ tour.
I must agree with the sentiments expressed, doesn't really seem like Enz with an outside drummer, however great he may be.

Absolutely. Plenty of good Enz drummers on hand - so many have been, er, drummed out over the last 30 years. Crowther or Chunn I say!!!

I totally agree. The only explanation for not asking Chunn or Crowther that I can think of would be (I'll admit it's a lame excuse but it's the best thing I can think of) then they'd have a drummer from a different era of the Enz. Crombie might not have felt like drumming on tour, who knows. It still doesn't explain why Mal wasn't invited back this time.
It's a shame, because it reminds me of when other groups have reunited without some of their original members (either due to death or disagreements) and it just seems kind of tacky to me. If a member has died that's one thing, but if everyone's still alive...why not just bury the hatchet? Easier said than done I suppose.
I agree with mummakook. I don't think we can say this is solely Tim's decision. I would think the band would have to have all been in agreement.
And, as we aren't privy to any new disagreements, we really don't know what the reasons are.
I won't be there but I too am disappointed Mal didn't get an invite.

I know I will be another missing Mal

Even though we all accepted Paul as the new Enz drummer back in the day, the Enz at that stage was still a living, breathing animal. It kind of seemed like a natural thing (to me anyway). And we had time to get to know and accept Paul as he integrated into the band, and the band played on.
The band won't be playing on this time. They'll perform their shows, and then that's it. Gulp. To bring in someone new just for that kind of strikes a jarring note, in my opinion. I wish they'd just leave it with Noel, if none of the others are coming back.
I would have liked one of the ex drummers too. I only got to know the band when Mal was the drummer so to see one of the other guys back would have been a real treat. It would have been real Enz.
Wanna rethink it guys, if its not too late?
