57 sleeps till the Sydney concert (add 2 sleeps for Brissy). Smiler

Was thinking the other day how good it would be to see the Enz perform an entire album LIVE. Of course the album i'd choose would be Time & Tide. There was a bit of a fashion recently of bands perfoming entire albums live, (Brian Wilson, The Cure etc). Which album would you like to see live? Ok, i know it will probably never happen, but its nice to dream, in the best of all possible worlds. Smiler

Original Post
I would have to go with Time & Tide as well. Dizrythmia would be close 2nd though!

And thanks for the sleep count, as always! Going to Brissy too? Lucky!
And getting back to the discussion about public transport/Rod Laver Arena/safety in numbers from the closed topic; yeah I reckon public transport is the way to go, TR. As a rabid greenie, I bike to work. But I don't fancy biking to the Rod Laver Arena with you, your neice and my husband on the back wheel!! LOL

Besides, I might bump into the Enz with me trousers tucked into my shoes. Not a good look.

So we could meet up at Flinders Street, and fight our way through the madding crowds. Melbourne's pretty cool, even at night, and besides, what's that joke? I know karate, and 4 other Japanese words. If we run into trouble, we'll throw my husband at them, he's a big boofy bloke, and run like the clappers.

Yes, I'm bored at work.

4 days of easter to go. Yay.

Love the countdown Seany; except it means I've got to organise flights and accommodation in Siddernee pretty soon.
Hi Kiers10,
No, not going to Brisbane as well. My poor ludite ways did not enable me to buy tickets to more than the one concert. Dyzrhythmia would be a good one! Love to see that. Wouldn't mind seeing Coroboree/Waiata performed as well. Quite right there Hk, & not a moment to soon. Hmm, flights to Siderney are relatively cheap. You can try jetstar, virgin blue, or Qantas. If you book early with Qantas, i am informed that you can get some great early bird deals. As for accomidation, well, i'd offer to put you up at my place, but it's not exactly The Ritz, (or The Savoy for that matter) & is pretty basic, & im affraid my valet & butlers take most of June off, so you would have to fend for yourself in the kitchen. There are a variety of levels of accomodation in Sydney, depending on your budget. You can go from The recently refurbished Sydney Hilton to YHA Backpackers accomidation if your on a budget. & if you have no budget, there is always the park bench. I hear the views are terrific. Just watch out for the pigeons of a morning.
As to the Rod Laver Arena, well i drove past it once. I do know that he was a very good tennis player in his day, but doesn't do much on the grass these days. What about a good old fashioned tandem bike, ala The Goodies? Rod would love that. Smiler

But oh what to wear? Jeans & a tour t-shirt? Drag out the tux? Or something in the new romantic mold? Big Grin

Well I do have a rather fetching Goodies tshirt that my daughter gave me (not that I am a Goodies fan particularly), which always gets a comment, cos of all the Goodies fan out there. It's purple with red writing. Do you think that would be good on the bike then, Seany?

But TR and I should be colour coordinated, don't you think? Can't clash on such an auspicious occasion, surely. Rod would hate that.

TR, have you got a Monty Python tshirt? That at least would be coordinated in some sense.

Can't face the New Romantic look though, all those frills, not so good unless you are 12. Or Simon Le Bon.
Sorry, hijacking the thread for two shakes just to say... Hmmmmmmm, Simon LeBon *THUD* Big Grin

Ta Ta. Razzer

...Fizzy.

Surely, you are JOKING!?!?!? Eeker

I need some Enz wardrobe assitance as well! However, footwear is key. I at least know that my fav. pointy shoes (circa 1986) will be attending the FRENZY! Don't have a tour shirt as this will be my 1st show. Hmm, maybe someone can grab me one at the June 8 show, or TAKE ME WITH THEM!!!!!!!
I agree, Mal is a bit of alright, isn't he?? Wink

However, back on topic, is anyone going to Perth?? I don't think anyone has mentioned that yet (or maybe I have missed it...) Roll Eyes
This is my first time see The Enz. I'll be happy whatever the setlist is. Cool

Eek! Eeker I better start looking for airfare.
I would love to go to Perth, I can get a ticket to the show, but I'm afraid as I finish off paying my other Enz related debts, an air fare over is out of the question. I cant complain thu (and I'm not)just answering the question Big Grin

Ha! Well, nothing wrong with some campaigning to get in to the June 8 show! I'll be there June 9 (9th row! WOO HOO!!!!), but still looking for a decent ticket for June 8. Wink No one does the campaigning better than Half though! Perhaps I should hire her?

*is very jealous of those who will have the Perth show to themselves*

I'm going to Perth along with 3 others others from OTS. See you there!

Awww ty! I do try hard. Hopefully it'll pay off one day Smiler

I do seem to have a reputation...
I hope it does, Half, because they don't act like they've gotten the hint yet.

I'll be at the Brisbane concert. I'm still in shock about this. Plus, there's works in the makings for me with one of the Sydney and Melbourne concerts. I have... determined friends.

LOL Big Grin I can just see us all hk Wink

OK - I reckon my niece will be up for whatever we decide to do, but I'll ask her anyway.

Sorry - no Monty Python t-shirts hk. Wish I had as much prowess with a sewing machine (and imagination) as Matinee Idyll (or his sister) to be able to whip up a SE-style jacket Big Grin That went down a treat. It was like a beacon.

I remember being at the last concerts at Festival Hall (Enz with a Bang) and when the guys came out there was a coloured smoke released from somewhere near the stage. Many, many years later, if I smell something remotely like that smell, it all comes washing back over me. I didn't want to wash the jacket I had been wearing to try and maintain that smell. I think it ended up being thrown out Roll Eyes

Just wish we had the option of slowing down time when we get to the concerts - to make it seem like it lasts for an eternity Cool

And even though I'd probably have to resort to printing my own money, if they play in NZ either with the Australian tour, or later as a once off, I think I'll have to be there. It would be too special to miss.

What a brilliant idea! We'll just get MI to whip up some jackets for all the Frenz, that way we can be a sort of Enzy Army Smiler.

What're you doing for the next couple of months MI? Wink
Actually, for my 21st birthday party, I had bought a black suit and a white suite from an op shop, and hand sewn them together, to make a suit similar to the ones in the Sweet Dreams clip.

Mind you, that was nine years and about as many kilo's ago Smiler
Did someone say pointy shoes!!
Hmm, well i guess the frilly pirate shirt & the red bandana will have to go back in the mothballs. Guesss the world is just not ready for the return of the "original" Simon Le Bon-bon. & for the uninitiated, Mr Le Bon was the lead singer of '80's band Duran Duran. Wonder if the Enz & Le Bon pathes ever crossed??

I think the purple & red Goodies tee on the back of a tandem would be just the kind of thing that Rod Laver himself would have worn to a Split Enz concert. Either that, or tennis whites of course.

54 Sleep-a-roonies. Unless you stayed up to catch the easter bunny.

Big Grin
Oh, please stop mentioning Simon LeBon.

I've got a headache from all the *THUD*-ding I've been doing lately.

I can't believe it's almost June.

Pinch me, is it really happening?

...Fizzy.

PS: Shhhhhhh, FiNa FiOnA. Not a word. LOL
Simon who?? Eeker Never hoida him??
Yes indeed, where did April go?
& all to soon,
it will be June,
on Planet Earth,(um Enz, sorry.)

Best to save a prayer for the morning after.
(or the night before).

Big Grin
LOL Seany, you cheeky bugger. Big Grin Razzer

You're right though, its coming around rather quickly, but I think the worst month was February, waiting for the tickets... the rest is easy compared to that. LOL

...Fizzy.

BTW, are the ENZ known as "Wild Boys" and will there be a "New Moon On Monday" ? LOL

Please don't, Seany!! I really liked Simon eh... 20 years ago?? (sighs). Could do without the shoulder pads though!

Back to what to wear, I am a disaster with thread and needle unfortunately! I've got a nice SE t-shirt, but I bought it at Homebake so it looks very new! I keep washing it, but while everything else seems to fade, this doesn't! Roll Eyes
Maybe you're not washing it hot enough, I only washed mine once and nearly ruined it!
As for Simon le Bon and Split Enz crossing paths, Duran Duran were SE's support act once, I don't know when or where, and it might even have been before Simon joined Duran Duran. Someone else who knows more about it than I do, will have to fill in the details.
I couldn't resist having a quick look on Google, and I found this.

When the Finn brothers' first band was peaking in America in 1981, they played a venue called the Pier in New York, supported by an up-and-coming bunch of English boys named Duran Duran.

So there you have it.
Sorry for hijacking it again, but just as well I wasn't there, I'd have spent more time on the floor than watching the concert.

*THUD* heaven - Simon and Tim in the same venue. Be still my heart.
Wow... can you guys remember when the Enz tour was announced on the 1st of February, and we all thought it would be reeaaaaallllly far away? it's so much closer now, and we're already talking about clothes to wear! (Actually, I had planned that a few weeks back!! Smiler )

My friend and I are making our own tee-shirts. If you go to the Brisbane show, you will see them. HAHA! Big Grin sorry in advance if I get too excited. Hey, who am I kidding, 'if'?!!!

or the night of!

*sings 'this is Planet Earth ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba*

I can't believe you guys missed that one Wink
OK - let's continue to have fun here, but lets also remember that this is about Split Enz - not Simon Le Bon Smiler

Please feel free to discuss Simon's talent in All I Ask Smiler

Meantime, onward and upward with everything Enz Big Grin
Hmmmmm Message Boy has been stuck in my head for days, I feel they need to play it to get it out of my system, could be MAD by June.
Think the flat pointed boots are the go, YES they're still in fashion.
Suzanne just give any kid you know the Enz shirt to wear for a day and should make it look pretty old in one wearing. My pair like wearing it as a nightie. LOL

I'm lost what's the countdown to now ??

Gotcha T.R., sorry, just couldn't resist. Wink

ON WITH THE ENZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Big Grin

...yes, what is the countdown at?
Who is this Simon Bon Bon guy??

Herhuuum, 51 sleeps & counting.

Should think a tour tee & a pair of jeans would be the only uniform required, because let's face it, who would want to try & out-do Noel Crombers in the threads department!! Eeker

Unless of course you are attending the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, where i should think tennis whites all round would be mandatory, (unless you're wearing a Split Enz t-shirt, or a Goodies t-shirt). Wonder what Mr Laver will be wearing to the concert? But then maybe he will opt for the Smurf look. Big Grin
Wow, Split Enz & Duran Duran on the same bill. Although i can't for the life of me remember the lead singers name. Was it Terry? Or Gavin? Smiler
Carefull with those pointy shoes, you could take somebody's eye out with those things! Eeker

The new & slightly improved Count Down (minus voice overs by Gavin & comments from Molly's Hat)

Brisbane: June 7th = 48 Sleeps.

Sydney: June 8th = 49 Sleeps.
June 9th = 50 Sleeps.

Melbourne: June 11th = 52 Sleeps.
June 12th = 53 Sleeps.

Adelaide: June 14th = 55 Sleeps. But we all know Adelaide never sleeps!

& for those driving to Perth!!??

Perth: June 16th = 57 Sleeps. unless you go by train, in which case you probably won't sleep.
I WISH I could do pointy shoes, but with my size 11 yacht-style man feet, it's not a good feeling. I'd rather like to buy one of those 'military' jackets Target have now and do something creative to it thu. hmmmm. I dont have a creative bone in my body.

So few sleeps to go, lordy how fast has it flown.
Brisbane: June 7th = 46 Sleeps.

Sydney: June 8th = 47 Sleeps.
June 9th = 48 Sleeps.

Melbourne: June 11th = 50 Sleeps.
June 12th = 51 Sleeps.

Adelaide: June 14th = 53 Sleeps.

Perth: June 16th = 55 Sleeps.

Think that's right. Might have to check with The Count. Smiler
I just love watching you all countdown to the Enz reunion! It sorta makes me get excited right along with you. I just have to have faith that somehow, someday, I'll get another chance to see them live. For now, I'll just have to live vicariously through all of you!

I bet it does feel like waiting for christmas! Smiler
