Thank you Deb.

Then I will second the emotion and vote once more for 'Spirit of the Stairs'.

Neil mentioned to a group of us after the LA concert on Sat. night that he was just weeks from putting finishing touches on a 'rarities' album. He is well aware of his fans fondness for his 'obscure' (please don't cane me for using that word!!) works!! So... if it shows up there, bully! If it shows up on a new release, bully bully! Otherwise I will continue to watch a brief snippet on youtube and long for the day...

Isnt Neil just AMAZING Big Grin that will be one hell of a cool album Smiler and WOW!

a NEW rarities album? If he's talking about the rarities box set that makes sense but it kind of sounds like he's talking about an Afterglow II sort of effort. I'd be thrilled with anything of course but I'd hate to think that the box set idea has been abandoned for a single disc release. At any rate, lets hope that "finishing touches" means it (whatever it is) will be released before 2009. Before Fall 2008 would be even better!

Yes your so right that is a really pretty song and A GOOD CLEAR version would be brilliant Smiler
Unfortunately, as you guys have probably already concluded, "Ray of Hope" is unlikely to appear on a Crowded House box set. It was, after all, recorded by Neil in the middle of his solo career. It's ashame though that such a beautiful song should only be released as a very low quality MP3.

Isn't it available on a CD somewhere though?

If it is, somebody's not sharing or at least nobody here seems to know about it.

Also "The Same Language As Me"
That did get released, he called it Private Universe in the end.

Yes it did but I think it's different enough from Private Universe to warrant it's own release with the exception of "it's a pleasure that I have known" part that we all know well from Private Universe.
I agree 100% with Finner79
"Most Unwanted", "Same Language As Me" and "Convent Girls"

All of those songs are highlights of their "Club" albums

Neil would still need to write the Bridge for Most Unwanted as CH never completed it whilst they were writing it on MTV.

I also think "Pieces of Change" has potential.

Most Unwanted gets my vote. And yeah, Neil has to finish the bridge (it's about time). The lyrics have to include something about someone 'wanting to get up and just, just dance'. THAT would be fitting ;-)

Much as I love Most Unwanted I think it's moment has passed. (I always thought the lyric was "In my dreams I've wrestled with gods". Much better than Neil's lyric, in my humble opinion!).

Anyway, back on topic: I think the only true contender is Spirit Of The Stairs.

Been listening to Most Unwanted a lot lately, and have struggled deciding whether he's wrestling with dogs or gods. Is there a definitive answer?

I've always thought he sings "wrestled with gods" in one chorus and "wrestled with dogs" in the other.
