The CH Facebook page recently posted a video from Nick, in which he enters a recording studio and sits down to presumably record. The studio appears to be United Recording Studios in Los Angeles, which was formerly Ocean Way Studios, one of the best studios in the world. Everyone from U2, Radiohead, Madonna to Beck, Herbie Hancock, Whitney Houston have recorded massive albums there.

I’m trying to suss out what this decision might imply. Correct me if I’m wrong but I believe that Neil has basically recorded in his own studio after Time on Earth, with the exception of Dizzy Heights which was partly recorded at Dave Fridmann’s studio in New York. What can they achieve at this big, expensive studio that they can’t at Roundhead? Is it a logistical thing? Or helping out Liam who has a young family and lives in LA?

In any case I think it’s cool Neil is breaking out of his recent mold a bit. And tbh I don’t really like the sound of Roundhead recordings, despite its vaunted console.

Maybe it's buzz? If they were recording in Muscle Shoals back in the day or at Abbey Road it would generate news. They could use some "hook" to win over the US crowd and this might help?

Neil needs to go on the Adam Carolla show. I think they share a birthday, and Adam is a decent fan. His podcast is based in the LA area. Please make it happen!

I don't think that would be particularly helpful to Neil. Carolla is highly problematic, he's the guy who recently asked people offended by Katy Perry's blackface costume to "please kill yourself."

Neil was on the Nerdist podcast a few years ago and since then, Chris Hardwick was unfortunately metoo'd with disgusting allegations from his longtime partner.  Neil doesn't need to go on any more problematic podcasts!

Neil’s restlessness extends to pretty well every aspect of his musical process, if Mitchell or Liam said “let’s do it in LA,” that probably wasn’t a hard sell.

A bit unfortunate to make a CH record in Mark’s back yard without him, but here we are.

Agree with the Mark Comment

after all the years developing Roundhead , it seems weird to give someone else your money for recording time !
