I remember that quite a while before Try Whistling This was released, promo copies of the album were floating around. If I remember correctly these also had Spirit of the Stairs on it before it was dropped from the album. My question is, were the rest of the tracks identical to the final release, or were they subtley different or early mixes like Tim Finn's Far Out EP/Say It Is So album?

Any help greatly appreciated

There were subtle differences in 2 of the tracks - "Sinner" had a different mix, and sounds subtly different from the eventual single release. As I recall it's longer too.
"Astro" has a voice (presumably Neil's) counting the track in at the start.

The studio version of "Sprit Of The Stairs" is indeed included, and from what I remember, the only other difference is that "King Tide" is listed with it's original title "Low World", although the song content is identical.
