Other underappreciated artists/bands

The Pointhead Stecks

The Raspberrie Killers

Both are vastly underated. The Stecks 2nd album Don't Look At Me, I'm Irrelevant (1995) is one of those largely overlooked intelligent pop/alternative rock records that's been forgotten in the mists of time. I think Q even gave it 4 Stars back in the day.

The Raspberry Killers released a string of 7" singles back around 1999/2000 sometime, all delicious slices of quirky punk rock, which all came in different coloured vinyl. "The Great Advantage of The Tiger in Unarmed Combat" and "The Deceased Mr Apricot" were both really good . They never really got the success they deserved. - I reckon they had a good album in them, but they never got the chance. Suppose that's what you get for releasing everything on 7", with really long titles. They broke up some time in the summer of 2002, There was a collection of the singles on Self Defence Recordings released about a year ago or so.
penguin cafe orchestra quirky and fantastic.

dot allison i only have one of her albums but i really like her sound. great chill out music

the four of us were big in ireland but i dont think they cracked any other market. they have a great ear for melody. i think if u like the finns u'll like these.
Absolutely...I think many people dimiss them as just being 'the band with Neil Finn's son in it'. And I know for a fact that a lot of people kind of resent the fact that Liam had it so easy entering the music industry because of his dad's connections. So heaps of people don't give them a chance - when in reality its some of the most original and creative music I've heard in a long time. Not to mention the fact that they're fantastic musicians.

It also doesn't help that Matt's dad is Brett Eccles, the drummer from the angels.

People make up there mind about them before they even hear the music. I'm just glad that they're good enough to make it on there own merits, eventually people will realise that.
