Interesting article in the Otago Daily Times, with some comments from Nick about performing the songs in a way that’s faithful to the recordings.
"[Mitchell Froom] remembers the emotions as the songs formed their character in the studio.
"He’s been a fantastic guide for us to refamiliarise ourselves with that mood and that temperature, and everything down to the detail of all of the overdubs he did and all of the harmonies that we sang.
"So a song like Something So Strong sounds exactly like it did on the record, and it’s really exciting to play it that way."
TBH one of the things I’ve always loved about CH is their ability to play songs differently from the records. On the other hand, I am attached to some details. I do feel that the harmonies of Finn Bros compositions for example, need the full strength that they have on the recordings. And I’d love to see Froom perform the solos on DDIO and Four Seasons.
Keen to hear from Frenz who go to Christchurch on Wednesday.
