NZ 'Six Months...' 7" single - Aussie picture sleeve?

My copy of the NZ-pressed single is also in the Australian sleeve. I made some enquiries around the time, and was unable to confirm whether there was a special NZ sleeve. My guess is that the sleeves were imported into NZ.

Well I'm convinced! I hurried to Real Groovy at lunchtime and snapped it up before I missed out. This is the 3rd copy I'm aware of with an Australian-printed picture sleeve, so it can't be an accident!

I just got 6mts with both picture sleeve and record with this #Mushroom K8726

This may be slightly away from the original topic here but definitely to do with '6mialb' single.
I found these on one of the Yahoo images pages and I would like to know where this cover/back was actually released {I've seen a few different covers for the same Enz single[s] released in different parts of the world}

Looks like the US version.

The archive copy of the NZ release in the office has the Aussie cover too....and we received that day one of release.

NFaddict- the US single (A&M 2411S) has a solid black cover while the jpeg of the back cover you havbe up has the extra artwork.... UK (AMS8216) is pretty much the same as the USA with solid black.... will try and dig out our Canadian single if I get a chance it could be the Canadian version...?????

I found that on Yahoo images for Split Enz and I had never actually seen that cover/back cover before so I was just curious to know where those had been released.

I also have this really small... vague memory of Nathan getting shirty in the office around a USA? Canada single with the artwork messed up..and it keeps haunting me that it could be Six Months and the copy with the extra 'tattoo'd type background images could well be it as a reissue (the one you have shown us)...like I said it's such a fleeting memory...it was 24 years ago....no idea why this thought has stuck. If Nathan is reading it he might know....I know he is a Frenz.com member......so Natty if you know the answer.....

Gryph. Just been through all my Six Months singles and this is the USA version. The tattoo type images you mention are not on the actual item itself. Whoever has scanned the item in has added them so it cannot be printed straight off, i've seen the exact same graphic on a lot of other things scanned in. Alas, not a newfound rarity, but just the run of the mill USA edition.

ah the mystery is solved, I think nathans away too so I haven't heard which Enz single had the faulty artwork.....

It could of simply been I Wake Up Every Night with the bed with messy sheets cover that was never used.....was hoping it was 6 Months butw eird that we didn't have a tattoo'd one in the collection..... thanks NWWY for that explains it.

On a semi-related note, just saw a Japanese 7" of Six Months on eBay and was finally able to work out what the title was for Japan - "Aotearoa no Kaze" (or "Wind of Aotearoa")

To which I say "whuh?" - anyone know how they came up with that one and whose decision it was (I'm thinking someone in the Japanese record company...) Were the guys aware of stuff like that happening in other countries?

(there's also a couple of renamings for S. American territories as well - don't speak Spanish tho' so I've no idea what they are)

I recently picked up a Japanese A&M promo flyer for "Six Months". Maybe someone could translate 'cos I'm afraid my knowledge of the lingo is minimal.

That one's a bit beyond me these days (and I was never that good at reading that much kanji) but I think the front of it talks about the "Number 1 pop number from New Zealand", the bit on the left explains that Aotearoa is the Maori name for New Zealand, and on the back, it starts by comparing them to the Beatles, 10cc, ELO and Supertramp before going into a ton of stuff I've no hope of deciphering.

You're dead right actually..the article's long and drawn out, but essencially is telling the story behind the song ie;seafare,Fauklands War,BBC banning airplay of it,etc.

The title on link 1 reads.."This summers No1 refreshing pop number,a feeling completely New Zealand" Goes on to explain the meaning of the Maori word "Aotearoa", and that NZ is exactly that, The Land Of The Long White Cloud.

Link 2 title reads, "Aotearoa Wind/SPLIT ENZ", and goes on to point out that NZ is in the southern hemisphere,kind of a cross between Hawaii and Switzerland(they said it, not me), a country of dream-like beauty, and from which hails a marvelous rock band.

The 5 points written are.
1. musical connections/influences on SE.
2. NZ related demographic insights.
3. NZ'ers traits.
4. Six Months release data.
5. Hugh Padgham bio.

In essence, a very well thought out write up to help tug the hearts and minds of pontential Japanese buyers.
