Hope SA Power Networks has my power back on in time.

They're cutting it off for the day in my area to do maintenance on Nov 16th!

Dim question - how does this work both in terms of timing, if you are in the UK or elsewhere?

Also how does this work in terms of access, do you need to access it through a Facebook account?

Finally, if I miss it can I see it again another time?

Point 1: It's 5:30pm-8pm Sydney time. That's GMT + 11 because of Aussie Daylight Saving.

Point 2: It would be much easier to access it while logged in to FB & I would recommending you logging into FB ahead of time if you wish to watch it live.

Point 3: Most FB Live streams are accessible for a while AFTER the stream has ended. I believe this would be no different.

The FB link directly to the right area of the page is here:

https://www.facebook.com/events/1780862515488030/

I tried that link without logging into FB & I can access it fine, but as I've already said -  I would recommend watching it via a FB account to be on the safe side.

and a little bit more info:

We now have the phone numbers for the stream tomorrow

Stream, starts at 7.30pm NZT / 5.30pm AEST

Phone numbers are:

NZ 0800 110 323

AUS (+61) 2 90422670

Hashtag #CHencore https://www.facebook.com/optus/

There is a fun message from Neil there now.

People can call in from about 7.15pm NZT.

Great version of "In My Command" to open the evening and announce that the band is back.

As if I wasn't already excited for next week...!

I wrote on the discussion tab on the Optus page when it first went up, but I don't know if they are only doing phone calls instead now

haha fair enough, I must be tripping! Had to restart my computer at one point. Listening now though, it's an amazing experience!

Private Universe had about 5 tempo changes - that was my computer. I was tripping too, it actually worked quite well in a Stones Midnight Rambler sort of style!!

Haha, love getting the two different Locked Out performances, first that impromptu slow acoustic version and now the conventional electric one.

Have any of you tried ringing the phone number? The few times I've tried it's been busy, though I just have a couple of silly questions anyway so I'm not exactly sitting here on redial.

Plus, ringing distracts me from watching the performance!

Pretty good show, wish the people calling up would stop asking for things haha.

anyone having issues, you should be able to watch for a few days after, but I'll be downloading the stream and can provide it in a friendly, downloadable format if required.

Haha, one of the things I wanted to do if I got through was to egg on Mark into getting the rest of the band to agree to play "I Don't Know You".

My only problem when people ask for stuff is when they ask for totally predictable songs the band play all the time anyway. I remember one gig I attended somebody got the chance to make a request and they asked for "Better Be Home Soon". Come ON, they're going to do that anyway. Ask for something rare!

Enjoyable show, felt like they improved as they went along too. Looking forward to next week!

Also nice to hear Neil say he is interested in doing more webcasts next year

I think it's showing again now ?

Thanks for posting on youtube.  Missed it because the date messed up.  I thought it was the 16th.  Glad I was able to catch it anyways.

I woke up last night at 1:30am and did my best to enjoy watching the rehearsal live as it was happening on the other side of the world... much to my surprise (and midnight disappointment) I was unable to stream the video on my Ipad. I kept getting an error message because of a Flash requirement... needless to say, it took some effort to go back to full sleep mode...

I'm now at work, with the Ipad, watching the full rehearsal on Youtube and I have to say the band has NEVER sounded better. The guys look happy, fulfilled and sound so tight! I can't describe how excited I feel and how promising things look from where I sit. The whole thing is very reminiscent of the 2007 webcast and I can't help but hope that we'll get at least another couple of albums and tours.

A big thank you to Neil, Nick, Mark and Matt, as well as everyone who made it possible.

You've made the fans VERY happy.

Really solid performance and great to hear the banter again. I wanted to call so badly but at 1:30 in the morning I couldn't think of anything intelligent to ask! I'm looking forward  to watching  the stream of the Sydney show. This could be even better than the original farewell.

I enjoyed it a lot, and they sounded quite good. But I have to be that guy who brings things down to earth a little, and say I can't at all agree they've "never sounded better."

They were very tight and any mistakes I chalk up to rustiness with the songs...this was billed as a rehearsal, anyhow. But I often don't like the way Neil sings these days. He doesn't do the full-throated singing he used to, it sounds like he's trying to conserve energy or something, but it ends up sounding a bit weak and raspy. I know he's getting older so I'm sure that's part of it. But I HATE the way he "talks" certain lyrics in recent times, as he did in NTGYTYA. Yuck. Weirdly, I thought he sounded best singing Serge, or whatever the really old song was. He sounded like his old self there, for a moment.

Nonetheless it was promising and shows the band definitely still exists and likes playing together, which is very exciting. I look forward to hearing the Sydney shows eventually in some form.

Not getting this at all I have to say. He may be trying to utilise his voice , but Neil is one of the few artists that even at age 57/58 that I detect very little difference or deterioration at all of note. For me referencing the Bath webcast of 10 years ago , and FWTTW in '96, very little has changed ! In all three performances , Neil displayed both fantastic and maybe slightly underpar vocals in places - it's live you know    He's done raspy and smooth in equal measure depending on the material for years . Not detecting a "thin" quality at all . Worth rembering the way things are steamed or how the sound is done can make the voice sound different - not that I'm personally hearing it.

Also maybe the "talky" bits are down to Neil's enthusiasm for the situation he was in yesterday ! I've been in that situation ...

I don't think any of the three instances you cite are Neil at his best, which may be why they seem similar to you. I think the Foreplay fanclub CD (where the live "Convent Girls" originates) is a good example of Neil at his best, and by that comparison, all three of those fall short.

I think it's a little silly to argue that Neil is as good a singer now as he was at age 30 -- I'm sure Neil himself would readily dismiss that.

But it's also the way he's changed the phrasing of certain lyrics in a lot of songs, which seems like probably an effort to avoid something which was easier in the past, and I think the overall effect suffers. And the "talky" stuff has been going on for years. As one example, the way he tosses off "time and again" in Distant Sun has been happening for a while. It just bothers me, I'm like, please, sing the song!!

If you're "along for the ride" with these evolutions, that's great. I just don't find the overall impact of his vocals to be in the same league they once were.
