New Finn Brothers album

Hmm.... I'll be happy whatever project we get.

If we get a new Finn Brothers album, I would slightly prefer it's a bit quirky like the first FB album. I found EIH to be a bit generic in places, and it needs a higher proportion of songs of the quality of "Won't Give In".

Seems Finnatics got the scoop this time (via the Berlin interview):

Werden Sie in nächster Zeit wieder mit Ihrem Bruder Tim zusammenarbeiten?
Neil Finn: Ja, wir schreiben gerade ein paar Songs, die für ein Musical gedacht sind. Da ist was in der Pipeline.

Will you again be working with your brother Tim any time soon?
Neil Finn: Yes, we are co-writing a couple of songs intended for a musical. Something in the pipeline.

Yes if they are doing something I would prefer an album more in line with FINN - a bit quirky and different and with a decent producer who can bring some new ideas and sounds much as Fridman did with DH.

I would hate another Everyone is Here - the songs could have been great and a couple were (Disembodied Voices, Nothing Wrong With You) but overall all it suffered from awful production, abysmal mastering and a complete lack of adventure. Even then it came up pretty well live - which I guess shows that the Finns even at their nadir still produce pretty handy songs.

I think a collaboration would be especially good for Tim - not so sure whether Neil needs a distraction from his solo work. I REALLY HOPE it is not a musical - as far as I am concerned that where great songwriters go to die....

I tend to think another Finn Brothers album wouldn't totally sound like either Finn or Everyone is Here. But then again, if they gave us another 'Edible Flowers' and 'Anything Can Happen', I'd be crazy to complain. I love EIH, what a great album.

Just sort of imagine Neil's songs on Dizzy Heights as well as Intriguer mixed with what Tim has been doing lately. A little like that, I'd suppose.

I agree with Titus2.

Tim would probably benefit the most from a collaboration at this stage of his career. Just this morning "I'll Never Know" from Feeding The Gods popped up on my Ipod and it instantly reminded me of how exciting and inspired Tim's music felt around that time. The production on both FTG and SIIS, is sheer perfection and the songs feel as powerful now as they did almost 15 years ago. In comparison, TVIWTC feels like a Lifetime movie; not bad, but a little too comfortable for my taste. Even The Conversation was a risky move which IMO really paid off.

I hate to say it, but my gut is telling me that the next album from the Finns will in fact be a Musical. I too really hope I'm wrong and that it's the furthest thing from a musical, however all signs seem to be pointing in that direction. Tim has already done a couple (Poor Boy and White Cloud).

If it is a musical they have in the works, wouldn't it sort of contradict the line "Not everyone in New York would Pay to see Andrew Lloyd Webber..." from Chocolate Cake?

I hope we get an actual Finn Brothers album or maybe even better a Finn Brother Box set!

These harmonies need some dissonance to arise from.

Neil said at one of the recent Out of Silence shows that he and Tim have finished a musical project and it will be a musical. He said that "Alone" is one of the songs in the musical.  He didn't say when or where it will show up.  I assume it won't be until at least late in 2019 given that Neil is committed to the Fleetwood Mac tour until April of 2019.
