I have to admit, I'm not too happy about the whore anagram either, though I love the idea of the shirt.

I love the brown one I got at Tempe, it just says Crowded House in yellow and pale blue across the front, and looks pretty trendy. The O in House looks vaguely like the planet Earth. I actually get a lot of compliments on it when I wear it, mostly meant as a fashion compliment - because most people giving me the kudos are completely unaware it IS a band shirt!

The black one has artwork that's too big for my tastes, I'll just have to check out what other merch is waiting to part me from my money when CH hit the Midwest in a few weeks.
I did look up the word "Whore" in the dictionary and it did say "A person considered as having compromised principles for personal gain." along with prostitute, etc. I know this is what the creator of this T-Shirt wants....dialogue. And that is what we have done. I still won't buy it because of that....bt that is a problem with this world sometimes. People don't think that there could be other meanings to things....this case being one them. That word is probably just one of those words that has been manipulated through the years to mean different things. The one thing I have to say....the theme of this tour is brilliant....whoever thought of it.

Can picture it now,
"Mum, what's that word?
What's it mean?
How come your wearing that?
How come I'm not allowed to say it?
Is that a swear word?"

Meh, most kids use the word anyway... my lil 10 year old cousin & her bestie are always calling each other whores. Just a word. The trick is to not take meaningless things so seriously. There's no reason why kids shouldn't be educated on words "like that" and be exempt from using it; I see that as kind of hypocritical.

I still think the shirts are way overpriced. Does anyone think the shirts (or concert shirts in general) are reasonable?
I like the anagram shirt, despite the controversial word. I mean, just because I wear a New York Yankees t-shirt doesn't mean I am a baseball player (for the record, I don't like the Yankees and don't wear a NYY shirt but I wanted to use an example that people in most countries would get, given the global saturation of that overrated baseball team...). anyhow, if they are selling those shirts on the N. American tour I will buy one

Nope, just good mannered.
There's a thing going on out there with alot of parents, its called values.

The strange thing is, I'm wondering if Mr Finn himself okayed the shirt, as he doesn't use profanity and unkind words in his lyrics. Most bands he's professed to have liked of late have positive messages in their music.

You're right, I can only remember one profanity in all of his songs.

But he uses profanity on stage because he knows we're 99-100% adults. And to be honest, it's a t-shirt, and it's not the only one available, so we're all catered for.

It's not irresponsible to have whore written on a t-shirt, as I'm not sure many five years olds ar going to be purchasing their own merchandise. it's about each of us individually buying which one we like.

Ohhhhh....I'd be waiting till you have 'em before you give lessons on how to raise 'em. Roll Eyes

T-shirts are always so pricy but we always buy them. Maybe if we all didn't, they'd come down in price. But that's not going to happen, is it?! Wink
I'm not taken with the new TOE t shirt, too stiff and will crack eventually.

As for kids already knowing and saying the word "whore" I think some parenting could be in order?!

I'll be making my own T shirt which could possible cost as much as the ones for sale but it will be my choice of design. Won't be ripped off by merchadisers who know we LOVE the House!!

Yes it bloody is, I wont be jogging anywhere in it - think of the chafing(sp?). (Wearing t-shirt and rubbing myself in a chaste manner)
I really like that anagram one, but it wasn't there at The Outsider in Aviemore for some reason!!!

There were, however 2 more that noone has mentioned (I don't think anyway, maybe I've just missed it! Roll Eyes ). There was a beige 1 with a large image of a tree with the snake-monster from TOE winding down it and at the bottom there was a large clock which, instead of numbers, had the characters to spell "CROWDED HOUSE" spread around it. I really liked the design but I have too many beige t-shirts haha!

There was also a dark navy blue one, which I purchased. If any of you are from, or have been to Inverness or indeed any kitsch Scottish souvenir shop it will be quite a familiar image. The monster from TOE swimming through the water in a "Nessie" style, with the body half above the water. It's carrying the body from the cover as well and there's a moon above it. I really like the design, the newsprint is visible in the water and moon. And it also says "CROWDED HOUSE" on the back.

I'll try and get a picture up if anyone's interested. My camera's out of batteries otherwise I would have put it up right away instead of reducing you all to reading my description Big Grin!
i replenished my tshirt emporium with the three on sale at the outsider (they were on sale for £15 each, not too bad i reckon). they didnt have the girls fit tee when i went to get mine so got the small mens... not that small, but ok.
i like the beige one best, cause it's not the basic square album cover, and it's not a small design, nor does it shout 'i'm a fan of this band'... would love a tour dates tshirt though. the blue one is ok, but not that great, and the black one is a bit predictable 'lets stick the album cover on the front' type thing.
i didnt get around to digging out my old woodface tshirt before the outsider.. must be in my wardrobe somewhere.

So glad you picked that up PH110, only mentioning that fact yesterday to Bletherskite as we were travelling the highways of the Sunshine Coast.
Much talk of Nessie insued as well, with much interest from my daughter. Bletherskite being from Scotland, and beloved's family being from the Orkney Islands. So came across those sorts of images in the Orkney sites when researching family history. Big Grin

T-shirts were £20 each at Hyde Park, hence, I didn't buy one. I thought it was too much for a t-shirt. £15 in Scotland? Why in Scotland and not in England? Can't be overstocks as they would sell them on the upcoming tour.

that's london prices for you Smiler

i got a biege and blue one at outsider - very nice Cool
