That Manchester review was outstanding! Now there is a guy who knows what he is talking about! Great read!!

well i left a comment on the site about ed powers "review".i don't think they will publish it - it wasn't very complimentary to ed shall we say.
interesting to read that they would not publish any "abusive or offensive comments"- yet ed powers review was deeply offensive to any crowded house fan.
I have jumped on the bandwagon and left a comment after reading Mr Powers "review".
You're either a fan or you are not. However, one thing is certain , Crowded House will be long remembered, unlike a certain Ed Powers!

Neil Finn and Britney Spears! Yeah.
Neil Finn and Britney Spears! Yeah.
Thank you for posting that link Nigel.
What an amazingly well written article.
I'm not sure about anyone else but the whole thing really got to me. Call me sentimental but what an emotionally moving display of eloquence from the masterful lyricist.
Thank you Neil...no wonder we admire you so much.

I didn't realise The Sun was capable of such good writing!
I can't wait to see them at Wembley and the RAH!

When I posted it I thought it was just online, but at my local caff, there it was. A two page spread in the middle of the Sun. That's an awful lot of publicity in a huge circulation newspaper. And, bizarrely, the Sun can have some brilliant writing in it. It might be tabloid, but the people working on it (or at least some of them) are pretty smart. There was an article during the European Championship, when England played Greece. In a centre page spread they went through the entire team and matched them with a God from the pantheon. All I remember was that Atlas played in goal, as he had a safe pair of hands!

Even more ridiculous is "Chester" in another review !!
After the Sun's article, another story popped up through google that Crowded House, now want to work with Britney, give me a break.

it just dawned on me....is anyone from the Frenz community or anyone in charge of this site archiving these articles to make sure we always have access to them. I know some sites delete articles, pictures etc. after awhile to capacity constraints. Just making sure verything is saved for the future for our enjoyment....to look back on these outstanding times!

From Aftonbladet, Swedens biggest tabloid.
It's a list of the year's 10 best albums
And a translation of #5.
"5. Crowded House: ”Time on earth”
Crowded House did an underestimated comeback together with Johnny Marr and The Dixie Chicks. Here are all those pitch-black pop melodies that Josh Rouse doesn't write anymore."

Cracker of a post it was too.

maybe Martine can help me with this one but I read in the Winnipeg Free Press the reviews of the best concerts in Winnipeg for the year. Crowded House made the list (I think the top 5).
It said something to the effect that "it was the surprise concert of the year. Considering the fact that Neil writes such meloncholy music they sure blew away the audience with a surprising lively, rockin concert." It was a short blurb like that....
Crowded House's Time On Earth did not make any of the Free Press top CD lists for 2007...oh well, we'll get 'em next time.

Here is a podcast link from the band after they played Hyde Park in London and Indigo O2 webcast, if no one has already come across it.

Thanks for the link to the Times Podcast - most Ive heard any interviewer get out of Mark! Would have been interesting if the band had managed to coax a verse of "The Logical Song" out of him on tour. For anyone who hasn't seen it :-

I was thinking the same thing, BART. Mark certainly is reticent. He's been a part of CH for how many years? And is just now telling the boys about his adventures hopping trains as a teen? Well done to the interviewer.
And thanks for the link, it's a riot!
Thanks for the Times podcast link. It was an excellent interview with some really interesting insights. Pete Paphides is a fine journalist who has written some great articles on the band in the past.
It would be great if Mark contributed more - I loved hearing about his time with Supertramp and his wild teenage adventures! He had a really tough job replacing Roger Hodgson who has one of the most recognisable voices in pop.

Thanks for posting the Times Podcast -- that was really fantastic!

Hey Mark, Kenny G called. He wants his hair back

The podcast interview is great...Mark's stories are funny, strange that he's only telling them now!
Not exactly news, just some delightful banter from Neil and Nick:

Thanks for the link. Just watched the clip of Neil and Nick discussing "Don't Stop Now"; and now I wish they'd make a GPS system for me that had Neil's voice! How cool would that be?!

Hey hyacinth,I wouldn't mind a GPS with Neil's voice!!Mind you,I'd probably end up doing more miles than were strictly necessary.
