I find it interesting that every show on this tour has started with Sweet Dreams....seeing as Liam or even Neil didn't write it or perform on it

My feeling on this was that the choice of first song was nice and neutral - as you say, not directly associated with either Liam or Neil, but a sure-fire hit with the audience
I suspect that it had to do with the theme of sleeping(light). The band in pajamas, staring with sweet dreams. And ending with don’t dream it’s over.
Liam (as Betchadupa) covered it in 2005, as have The Finn Brothers in their 1995-1996 and 2004-2006 tours. I think it's just a song they both like.. parts of.
Split Enz played it in Melbourne in 2006. Same arrangement, even shorter - just to the end of the first chorus, barely over a minute, but tell you what, it gave me chills hearing Eddie Rayner's piano come in.
Another couple of outings I've dragged out of the archive for you all:

Why didn't I think of that? I'm sure you're right!
A few photos from the first night of the tour, at Liverpool on the 14th Jan. Sorry for the delay in posting. Cheers, Simon
I couldn't go to Paris this time, last time there for Neil with CH was in 2007 but was lucky to be in Leuven the day before, what a great show, sound and voices with harmony were beautiful !
