This is something that's bothered me for a while and I'm hoping someone has some information on it:
Streaming services such as Spotify and Apple Music have a version of "Anytime" that has a truncated final verse from what I remember hearing on CD (I don't have my CD handy to confirm).
I remember the lyrics going:
I feel like I'm in love
With a stranger I'll never know
Although you're still a mystery
I'm so glad I'm not alone
And I won't let go
Of the first clear moment I saw you
Make it so easy to fly in the night
I could go...
Streaming versions cut out everything past "I'm so glad I'm not alone". Its present on the 7 Worlds Collide and Solo at Seymour Center live albums, so I convinced myself that I'd just remembered hearing the lyric on the live versions and it was never on the studio version.
However, I just recently watched an episode of The Bear that had the studio version with the full lyrics in tact.
So now I'm wondering... anyone know the story of why or when the lyrics were changed? Were they the same on all physical versions of One Nil / One All? Is there anywhere to stream the studio version with the lyrics in tact?
I always loved that last little line and have a lot of personal feelings wrapped up in it, it makes me sad that it's gone!
