Have just got my tickets for the Melbourne and Sydney shows next year.

My presence there kind of depends of my house selling by the end of the year and my planned trip to Australia & New Zealand coming to fruition so keep your fingers crossed for me please Smiler

Any of you guys going to these shows?

Yay Mummakook and Kira - I'll definitely get that floor ticket now.

I'll make sure I post as the date gets closer so we can maybe meet up prior to the doors opening.

At EWAB the Frenz were at the show by 2pm each day. I was in year 10 and doing work experience that week. Told the employer I was on the 'formal committee' and had meetings each evening, so had to leave early those few days, and they bought it. (Don't tell my kids Wink) Front row - Gawd I'm old.

Now to fix things on the home front
*runs off to break it to hubby that he's not coming to the show because the wife won't be sitting down, baby!*

Cool
Bit of news, tho if you're going to Sydney you've probably already heard or will do shortly. I had a call from the Enmore a while ago saying that Tim's decided to change the floor plan for that show and there will now be rows of seating for those of us who bought dance floor rix. Curious, though. I have a few theories as to why, but they are little more than that ...

So for those I was meeting on the floor, here's hoping that you got your tix nice and early too so we'll be nearby (I'm on the first page so she's promised they'll be good seats in my case, athough they can't guarantee what at this stage as apparently Tim's people are doing that but it's on order of purchase)!

Oh NO! Frowner Not very happy about that. What are your theories MK?
I hate replying to my own post, but anyway Roll Eyes

I ended up ringing the Forum and asking. I had wanted to avoid doing that because I have a throat infection at the moment and sound like Kermit's mother every time I try to talk.

However, he obviously heard enough because I was told that camera's are definitely not allowed inside the venue.

I then asked if that means we can't take mobile phones which take pictures in with us. He said that they are allowed.

I don't know what my mobile pics would be like in a darkened setting. I'll see if I can borrow my nephew's phone (its brilliant). This is too good an opportunity to miss photos.

Not sure whether Tim will do the backstage thing after the Melbourne show, but they surely couldn't stop you taking a camera to that. Its just what to do with it in the meantime Frowner
Actually a large bag had been my plan of action at the Forum to get my camera inside (I won't use the word "smuggle" because I don't like the connotations Big Grin).

Even if you're allowed to take a camera into a venue, I don't see why you should advertise that that's what you're doing.

I realised that I was assuming I could take a camera in (I did in New Zealand) so decided I had better check. I didn't want to risk being refused entry (or having to leave my camera somewhere).

If you're allowed to take a mobile phone that can take pictures, and they've got to know that that's what people are going to do, then I can't really see why a camera can't go in. Confused
The last time I was at the Forum was for Thirsty Merc earlier last year.
There were cameras flashing all over the place.
I don't know how they got them in but nobody stopped them from taking pictures.
Of course the floor area was jampacked with standing people at that show so it would certainly have been a lot harder to stop someone taking a picture. Tim's show will be people sitting at tables on the floor. A lot easier to control I would imagine.

I'm not happy. The buyer for my house has been messing me around for the last month and I still don't have a completion date for the sale so it is now most unlikely that I'll be heading over for Tim's concerts and my Aus, NZ trip.

I'm still slightly hoping for some sort of miracle that will see us complete and me able to get a flight in the first weeks of feb but realistically I don't see it happening.

Hope you all have a great time and I will just have to live vicariously through everyones excellent reviews Razzer

Have fun.
Hey fellow liverpool dweller.

At the moment I don't quite know how things will pan out. I'm still hoping to possibly be away by the end Feb/March for 3 months so I'll miss the gigs. If the house falls through then I know I've probably got another 5 months or so to try and sell it again so I might try for a UK gig then.

We shall see how it pans out.
I'll be at the Melbourne gig with bells and whistles on, but I still have laryngitis (can't talk at all now), and the doctor said there's a possibility that its nodes (nodules) on the voicebox Eeker

I don't really mind where I sit at the Melbourne show. I don't even care really whether I get to jig around or not, but one thing I really like to do is sing along.

I haven't checked Kira's countdown post but I counted 26 days on my calendar Eeker Yikes.

I'm still very sorry for those who's gigs were cancelled, but leaving that aside for a moment, I have to say that I am impressed that Tim is lending his voice to help animals in crisis. Perhaps he took that opportunity because circumstances had already meant that he couldn't play his planned gigs in Australia. I'd like to think that anyway. Smiler

I'd (still) dearly like to be taking my camera to the Melbourne show. It'll probably end up being the usual thing: I'll be miss goody two-shoes and won't risk it, and will get there to find that everyone is getting in with theirs Roll Eyes

Starting to get really excited about this Big Grin
I'll be taking my camera to both shows and hoping for the best. The Enmore in Sydney is usually fine with at least the compact variety, it tends to be just the more professional looking ones that they get touchy about.

As for Tim helping "animals in crisis" ... well I can't help but wonder since when did he actually like animals that much (see his comment in the Enz tour programme), which I suppose is different to wanting to ensure that native species do not become extinct. Nonetheless, knowing how much support the tuatara is getting througout NZ plus the fact that the concert series he is a part of extends from January 21 to February 24, I fail to see a) why he HAD to perform at Auckland Zoo on Feb 10 and b) even if that remained, why it required the cancelling of Adelaide (Feb 8), Canberra (Feb 13) AND Newcastle (Feb 15) which aren't on those dates (and it's only a 3.5 hour flight from Sydney to Auckland, so it's about the same as the drive between Sydney and Canberra or Newcastle). There just HAS to be something more to it all, and I think people deserve a better explanation than we've been given.

It was my impression too that he's not really an "animal person", but my point was that he's lending his voice to help animals in crisis. As you say, it is a different thing. Smiler

As for the cancellations, I understand the disappointment, but personally I think this has been handled spot on. If it hadn't been something personal, then we'd probably have had some type of explanation. The fact that we have had no explanation possibly (although obviously I can't say for sure) means that it was personal. And if it is, Tim deserves to have it kept private (as we all would in his position).

Knowing what caused the cancellations isn't going to change the fact of the cancellations. I understand that its disappointing - I felt immediate disappointment when I received the call from the Forum (re change of Melbourne date) and automatically assumed it was to inform me of another cancellation (and I wasn't flying to other states for shows) - howeveras I've already said, Tim is entitled to his privacy, and the bottom line is we don't need to know. Wanting to know is a whole other different issue Wink

I hope you get to go on your road trip in the US mummakook. Hopefully that'll make up a bit (a little bit?) and hopefully in the meantime Tim can work through whatever or deal with whatever (as the case may be).

(Yeah, OK, the Zoo show was an odd choice to pick up... Confused))

If you're taking your camera then I may risk it. I'm getting dropped off, so I may have an option of off-loading the camera if they spring people with them.

Its a nuisance - they're not weapons and most people are respectful enough to turn off the flashes these days. I can't see the problem myself (unless they have professional photographers at these things, in which case I can see the problem)... competition? Wink

I agree with you, Texas Rose. For all we know, Tim may hate having to cancel the gigs just as much as we do, but personal reasons are just that: personal reasons.

But I feel really bad for those of us who now can't go, and to be honest, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the European Tour... Frowner

But Tim knows what a devoted lot we are, and I'm sure he wouldn't cancel his gigs with no good reason. But I also feel he is under no obligation to tell us.
I agree - if they told us a reason - like it was low ticket sales, clashing schedules, personal reasons - that still wouldn't make any difference, there's still not going to be a show.
Personally, I believe if it was low sales, it should have been news by now. That sort of thing always is.
I don't know what's up or what's wrong - all I know is something keeps Tim Finn in New Zealand for a short period of time in February. He's in Australia for the Days On The Green on 3rd and 4th. Adelaide on the 6th is cancelled and Melbourne on the 8th is moved to the 15th (which was Newcastle's date so Newcastle is cancelled.) Canberra on the 13th is also cancelled but he's doing Sydney on the 14th and Melbourne (now moved) on the 15th. He's then got just over a week and a bit before he's off to Europe for most of March.
I'll be extremly upset if Melbourne is cancelled. I missed him in October at the POW when I would have dearly loved to have been there so much but couldn't go. But if it is, it is. I've had loads of concerts pulled out from under me over the years. (Some the day before the show!!)
I don't think for a minute Tim Finn enjoys cancelling gigs but for some reason he has had to. I agree it seems there's more to it than just re-scheduling, low sales, but if it's personal or whatever, it's not really for us to be told.
Good thinking Dr Kazzie! Wink

Seriously, If you put it like this, it makes total sense. Tim clearly has to be somewhere, and we're not to know. Which is only fair! But at least your way of reasoning shows that it probably has got nothing to do with low ticket sales or anything. And that makes me a little less worried about a possible cancellation of the European Tour. Thanks Kazzie!! Smiler
Well, apparently I am outvoted on this one. It's not that I want to know exactly why the cancellation if it is personal. However I do feel that those who have been left disappointed and financially out of pocket deserve something more than the vague "other commitments in NZ" that we were given. If it's a personal reason, not that I'd wish it on the man but that would mean the world of difference to not only myself but others who have been put out by this. I know that Tim doesn't like cancelling stuff, so the fact that there's been a lot of it lately makes me wonder if it isn't personal.

Again, I don't want or need to know exactly what those reasons are. I totally agree that he is entitled to his privacy. However wouldn't it be far better PR, were it the truth, to cite personal reasons for the cancellations than incur the anger that is about (even if it's not so obvious somewhere like here)?
Hello, just reading through all the posts regarding cameras in venues.I am going to Tim's Edinburgh concert, which is a small venue and though a camera would be o.k.I phoned to check and was told no,press only. They gave me a number to speak to the promoters and ask.Spoke to a very nice lady who said to send her an e-mail.Explained about Frenz and how i wanted to be able to share them on the site etc.
Several days passed and i got a phone call to say spoke to mangement etc and i can go ahead, will be issued with a press pack.Photo's for first three songs only,no flash. My dad is going to help me deal with that as he loves photography.Hope they turn out like M.K's photo's.
Peter and more importantly Deb are going to allow me to share them with you if they turn out!!
Put a good word in for me that they turn out o.k,date for concert is March 14th.
