Locked Out video

Knowing it was filmed just down the road from me (well, 50 miles or so). Just after one of the 'Goodbye to Melbourne' gigs, I asked Nick where it was filmed, he thought for a bit and said 'Beverley Valley'.

Never heard of that, maybe he meant Ebbv Vale. Any thoughts?

Er, can I just say it's not "alley ways and a typical 'north of england mining town terraced street'". I know it looks like that - and there isn't any info to say otherwise! But it's a typical south Wales valley town. Smiler I used to live in Newport, and Neil said they's been filming the day they appeared at the Newport centre, 26th November, 1993. Neil said he didn't think much of Welsh roads. I tried asking a bit more about it, but, via Peter Green got an answer from Nick that didn't make sense Confused . For years when we drove around the Valleys, I tried to find the hill in the background, but I never did.

The moorland is typical of the countryside just north of towns like Merthyr Tydfil and Tredegar, but there aren't any recognisable landmarks in the video. I couldn't even see a street name in the town scenes.
yup, that really should be changed, which it will be, armed with the accurate info that has been provided. It would of been nice to convince Neil to do a commentary on the music videos, i think it would be very interesting...though i suspect maybe he's trying to forget some of the more 'cheesy' videos exist.

Thanks for the corrections kylenano!

Thanks for the info guys - good to narrow this down to a country at least. I have a friend from North Wales who suggested (without seeing the video or knowing a lot of South Wales) that it could be within sight of Pen y Fan in the Brecon Beacons - does that sound familiar to anyone local?
(was hoping someone might have already done the complete CHouse video/location list to start worldwide Frenz tour....)
cheers
Ruthie
I'm pretty sure that it's not Pen-y-fan, because that mountain is too far from any built up area. It's also got a very distinctive shape - not like the hill in the video.

I've just tried a search on Google and found someone who worked on the video, and he's written books about the Rhondda Valley.

Perhaps I should e-mail and ask him where he was Smiler
I can remember we had a lot of proposals from film makers to do this clip. Somewhere in our files we have a folder that has about a dozen 'ideas' around the song..... just tried to find it but no luck...but I remember quite a few people really wanted to do the clip. At least the filming gave everyone a serious days work out! Who needs a gym when you have such an energetic clip!

Gryph.

Hello everyone. I worked on the LOCKED OUT video.

The street scenes were filmed on Margaret Street Tynewydd in the Rhondda Valleys. (Margaret Street > Tynewydd > Treherbert > Rhondda Cynon Taff > South Wales > Wales > United Kingdom)

The wall where the band hung off is at the junction of Margaret Street and William St, the wall belonged to the milkman at the time and while filming one of the band fell off the wall and damaged his guitar.  The wall is on the right, as you can see it's different today from the day of filming. https://goo.gl/maps/4avjMBg1FtD2

The lane scene can be found between Margaret Street and Miskin Street. The mountain in the background is called Pen Pych and is the only three sided, flat topped, mountain in the world.

The mountain scenes and country lane were filmed on Caerphilly mountain, just outside Cardiff. https://goo.gl/maps/bXHsVVdotHC2

One full day filming the street and lane scenes and the next day on the mountain/country lane.

Hope that helps everyone.
