Would love a Scottish gig, Stuart, and I was about to discount the idea based on the fact that they seem to be playing larger, festival-style gigs, and then I remembered TRNSMT. Possible, but their line-ups tend not to go for legacy-type acts, and veer towards the young and/or mid-90s Brit audience (Radiohead, Liam G, etc).

Here's hoping. My ability to get babysitters to cover international travel are pretty much non-existent.

There must be a new album being released , otherwise what's the point . The capacity for Castlefield Bowl is 8000'ish- my former gym ( The Y Club) is within that complex which includes canal waterways . It's a great location for an outdoor performance if the weather is good.  A new album or very, very , very , very best of re-issue ? I am not so sure.. Maybe Peter or the Jaffaman will know .

New album would be truly wonderful, however the summer festival circuit feels more like a greatest-hits situation; Neil and Nick playing 1.5 hours of fan favorites, backed-up by a few other musicians.

I’m expecting they’ll play Glastonbury, and maybe a few dates in North America.

Of course its all speculation at this point, no official announcements have been made around other band members or backup musicians.

I’m just happy with the fact that Crowded House lives on and will be active in any form next year. 10 years is a very long time in musical years...

Except that Neil has specifically said he wouldn't do this.  He's said in the past (post Intriguer) that he wouldn't want to bring Crowded House back without a really good reason, and that he never wants them to be touring simply on their name as a "legacy act" or words to that effect.

Of course, that is exactly what Fleetwood Mac is doing and Neil was willingly a part of that.  But that was a longstanding situation he was invited into, and I'm skeptical that he's changed his mind about Crowded House.

I'm also skeptical about Neils change in views around this stuff . I remember he punted Nick then later regretted it . I thought he may have learned from that. Maybe his outlook has completley changed. I'm so happy that crowded house is a " thing " again, but I have mixed feelings , because I no longer know what the "thing" is ...

Maybe I'm bring too pragmatic but if it's Neil Finn performing under the name "Crowded House" and that means performing almost exclusively Crowded House songs then sign me up! Would I prefer to see the original lineup? Absolutely. But I've seen plenty of bands perform with different lineups over the years and it's always been 100% great.

Here's an interesting thought. At this point the audience is just as much "Crowded House" as the band is. Regardless of who is on stage, we have built a community that comes together for shows to celebrate what the band was, is and will be. If Neil is throwing a Crowded House party, count me in!

Here is something for people who want to stay overnight in Manchester . It is the details of the Castlefield Hotel which is  literally about 20 meters from the Castlefield Bowl and it has its own gated carpark. Rooms are reasonably priced :-

They are also on Facebook of course.

Happy to have got tickets this morning. I'm looking forward to whatever version of Crowded House 2020 brings. I hope, of course, for new material and a proper tour (Scotland), but I'll take any version of Neil Finn live over most other artists.
