Yes sorry four seasons in one day was the very last song. I'd like to see a set list -I could probably nearly name every song but I couldnt remember the order. The Bar was good before and they even put on some Crowded House. Anybody else spot the six cars clamped outside on the way home -oh dear -bit of a bummer for those poor soles.
I met Colm from here on the forum so hello again.
Just got back to Blighty. Impressions of the night...
Firstly, a big Hi to the good Frenz I met up with beforehand. It was brilliant to see you both again. Shame there's always such a long gap
Secondly, the gig. Wonderful. The band really seemed to be in the mood. Lots of smiles, laughs and banter. Neil retelling Hessie's Sheila gag from a previous visit, Nick's dad's line about him being a showpony (nice work that man in the crowd for shouting it back at Nick while he was faltering at the keyboard), Mark loving standing centre stage while Neil played keys, the call for Recurring Dream and Lester that ended in us getting a medley of both on piano. Inspired.
A fantastic night. To be honest, I can't expect the rest of the tour to live up to it, but here's hoping...
Here's a random selection of tracks played (no, I don't have a great memory and refuse to write stuff down. It gets in the way of air drumming):
Private Universe (opener - yay! guessed right!)
from each album they played:
World Where You Live, DDIO, Something So Strong, Mean To Me,
When You Come, Better Be Home Soon,
Chocolate Cake, Fall At Your Feet (during which Neil tried to go into the bridge too early to everyone's amusement. It's not like he didn't play the song for 10 years!), It's Only Natural (another lyrical goof from Neil but by that point, no-one cared), There Goes God, WWY, FSIOD (closer),
Distant Sun, Locked Out
Everything Is Good For You (!),
Don't Stop Now, Nobody Wants To, People Are Like Suns, Silent House, Walked Her Way Down,
plus Recurring Dream/Lester/Everybody's Talkin' and a brief jam around Revolution.
Anything I missed?

All i can say is WOW ! What a brilliant night
Saw the Crowdies for the first time ever at Marley Park and thought they were brill and they played DDIO so tbh I didnt think they could beat that, but was I wrong.
Last night was outstanding . The encores when everyone was at the front of the stage was amazing. The atmosphere was electric . The whole Better be Home Soon in the dark reminded me of Live Earth and the special atmosphere of that night.
Highlights for me :
Nearly highlight for me
I rushed to the front of the stage when Neil was shaking hands with the crowd and just as I got there he moved away
But still I was about 2 foot away from my hero which was excellent
For some reason I thought that the European gigs were being recorded for the fans but apparently they're not - I was bitterly dissapointed. I asked the merchandise guy at the end of the night but he didn't know.
Surely that must have been one of the best nights of the tour???

What a gig!!!Im still in awe...
I can't believe how fanastic C.H. were last night.I had family come in from the U.K. for the gig who have never seen C.H. play before and they felgt the exact same. The lads were certainly on top form and I really didn't predict Private Universe as the opener. It sounded fantastic.
Highlights for me:
Fall at your Feet (Neils booboo was V. funny)
BBHS (For all you who joined in singing, you sounded like angels...for those who didnt...and Yes you know who you are...
)
Private Universe
Silent House
Locked out
Four Seasons
Choc. cake
(Im noticing that Im just listing all the songs they sang so i will stop now)
All Hail the dancing lunatic in the red shirt for dancing like noone was looking!!!! We our seats were we were fortunate that we could dance from the begining but my god i would have gone ballistic if i had to stayed seated.
Fab night but wish i was going to Belfast tonight. Really would love to see them again soon. The really are the most underestimated band of all time...But i like it that way.
to all of you off to see C.H. for the 1st time...Do not sit back and enjoy....DANCELIKE NO ONES LOOKING AND ENJOYxxxx

They f'ing rocked.
Having been listening to live recordings of the band for years, and knowing a general feel of how they sound live, for my first time seeing the band live, I was blown away by the musicianship and tightness of the band.
"Everything Is Good For You" was excellent, and they nailed the harmonies.
I was also really pleasantly suprised at the harmonies towards the end of Natural - Where Neil and Mark weaved in and out with the aahs like on the record.
I've waited a long long time to see Crowded House live and they really lived up to my expectations.

It was a fantastic night and as I had no camera etc. -I'd love if anybody could stick up photo's and or youtube stuff and guide me in the general direction. I was in the front row and Matt Sherrod was smiling all night. At the end Neil really seemed so happy with the quality of the crowd's singing.
forgot to add another highlight for me was There goes God
Also did anyone notice Duke special sitting to the left of the stage when the crowdies were playin? ONly noticed him very later on

Is Davey Lane still with the band, or did another (Elroy?) fill in?
Bellatrix, love this quote. "All Hail the dancing lunatic in the red shirt for dancing like noone was looking!!!!" So it should be eh?!!
Loving the comments on the Guinness.
Glad they were all you hoped for.
Anna, John Walsh is filling in for Davey's bits, or should I say Davey filled in on John's bits that Liam filled in for. Or something like that.

Thank you everyone for posting. Great to share in your experiences, particularly the first timers.
Keep dancing like no one's looking.

I have been so busy at work that I haven't had a chance to keep up with the forum. However after the gig on Monday night I just wanted to jump in on the comments.
I had never been to the Stadium before, it's a bit of a barn with quite a low ceiling, nothing compared to the majesty of the Olympia.
That said this was definitely my top Neil Finn/Crowded House concert. I have been to lots over the years and this one was my favourite.
We had great seats to the right of the stage but up the side. The crowd were quiet during the songs for the first half , but each one got a tumultous reception. From the first encore on though the place went mental, everyone on their feet bouncing around and singing along. You could see that the guys were loving it. **** the curfew indeed! Neil announced Better to be Home soon as the last song but then played another after that, they didn't finish til 11.15.And then at the front of the stage shaking hands with everyone. If you think it seems special for the guys then it is special.
The set list was great, I really liked the mix they did. Other highlights were:
Mark's "hey good lookin" a song from Kansas?
Neil's ribbing of Nick's piano playing - all the right notes just in the wrong order.
Mark's guitar solo in Silent House
Neil's ribbing of Nick about carrying Neil's jacket.
The crowd's singing of the long note for Better be Home soon - it went on quite a while!
Fall at your feet - Neil going from the first verse to "Finger of Blame" and having to correct himself - just in a rush to get to the end.
He missed a line in People are Like suns too.
The version of Choclate Cake was funky, I liked it alot.
Revolution - we must practise that!
The guy in the red t shirt - twice the size of the security guy who tried to pull him away. I think one of the sound guys intervened aswell.
Overall it was spectacular - a gig of two halves, which made it all the more satisfying. I was in Belfast too which actually made me appreciate the Dublin one even more, because I didn't think it was half as good.
Roll on Glasgow and London.
A special word for Duke Special. They were brilliant. Fantastic songs - they do get played on the radio here a bit . so I already knew some of the songs. So anyone who is going to the other gigs, I would make an effort to see them it will be worthwhile.

Well they played as a four piece on monday in Dublin, and I'm guessing the same last night in Belfast.
I have a rose tinted opinion of Dublin every time I go there Ive always had a great time. The National Stadium gig was no exception, the guys played a great set. Of the seven or so times Ive seen Neil/CH, this was my favourite gig so far.
Whilst Im not going to praise every last details, here are some noteworthy hi-lights of the evening:
The venue was had an untidy, intimate and friendly feel. Best venue Ive ever seen them at. The sound was a bit bassy to begin with but soon evened out. About two thirds of the way through the set everyone was on their feet, with nearly everyone singing. Very special. Very warming.
They played Everything Is Good For You. I said THEY PLAYED EVERYTHING IS GOOD FOR YOU! (I really like this song and had given up on ever seeing it live). They also did an impromptu version of Recurring dream mixed with Lester. What a treat. And Revolution (The Beatles for those of you dare not to know) as well as other covers/partial covers.
During Fall At Your Feet Neil began the middle 8th (The finger of blame bit) where the second verse should have been, i.e. too early much to the amusement of the band, audience and himself like.
Musically very tight, punchy but not AOR cock rock, with exciting excursions into the unknown.
Neils singing was great, much better than on Jools Holland, or the live CD of the Portland gig. Id been vaguely worried about this, but the rest seems to have done him good. Not bad for a 50 year old. Great harmonies, Marks voice was gorgeous.
Id forgotten how funny they can be. Paul wasnt forgotten cue the rude but funny Australian joke he once said on stage (I dont think Id get away with repeating it here).
The improvisation, intimacy, warmth and humour were all very much present.
I was also with fine company, which always helps.
And the taxi driver started asking me if I liked Split Enz and the Finn Bros when I mentioned Crowded House! I may be romanticising a little, but Ireland, or at least Dublin seems to have a special place for most things Crowded. At the Finn Bros gig at the Olympia (2005) FAYF was playing when I got in the taxi..
A very groovy experience all round, I was extremely grateful for such an opportunity. Im still buzzing to be honest, and wondering how the Manchester (much bigger venue) gig will compare..

Absolutely brilliant gig! really enjoyed it. Delighted that they played Don't Dream it's over which they didn't get to when saw them at Hyde Park in June (maybe because of the torrential rain!!) Hope they come back soon again
Been out of the FRENZ loop for a while... just popped by to say that the gig the other night was GIANT, absolutely fantastic.
The band loved every minute of it and Mark Hart was immense... best he's ever been: just fantastic to see him take centre stage and really cut lose.
It's all good...

Hi
Crowdies came on about 9pm and left the stage between 11.15 and 11.30. Cant remember the exact time, but it was over 2 hours
Enjoy - wish I was going to see them again - the BEST gig I've ever been to

I would have loved the whole of Recurring Dream too, coz it was my request ha ha ha, but bloody Colm shouted for Lester at the same time. Have to add, Neil did all this with his guitar set up for the next song around his neck and sat at the keyboard - what a gent for doing that for us!
I have to add, I did get the whole Recurring Dream at Belfast though, not via a request, but it was first song up, so I guess that was 2-1 to me big Colm !!!
Hats off to the Guy in the red tee shirt...
We all need to dance!!!
What can I say that hasn't already been said? The Dublin gig was absolutely fantastic! A very intimate venue, great crowd and superbly performed songs.
The venue, while a bit rough, was perfect on the night. Good bar facilities.
There seemed to be an awful lot of people in the bar area when Duke Special was playing, then it completely cleared just before CH came on. (Myself and a few others were chastised by a very p***ed off caterer for standing outside at an exit near the tour buses!)
The guys played a superb set, seemed very relaxed, and certainly looked like they were enjoying themselves as much as the crowd was. The banter with the audience was really good. All in all a very special night. Can't wait for another CH Irish gig!

I loved the way it started off with one guy dancing till he had a woman to dance with, and then everyone followed to the front of stage to have a dance too. I think that shows that most of the seated venues will see everyone up and dancing before they even get to the encores!
Not too much to add to the already glowing reviews on here, except to say that it was a brilliant night for me, a special gig and that I think Neil particularly enjoyed himself too...much less reserved than when I've seen him on previous occasions.
Loads of jokes, plenty of fluffed lyrics, digs at Nick, all part of what we remember from the CH glory days. Some great choices in the setlist. Loved the Lester mash-up. Who would have expected to hear 'Everything Is Good For You'? Sadly no Convent Girls but there's always the next tour
Great to have them back.
Stadium is a bit rough and ready as a venue but packs a great atmosphere for a place that size and once the crowd warmed up it was really jumping. So glad I could make it, as the prospect of seeing them in huge arenas leaves me cold.
Always nice to be in good company and as ever was great to meet up with my fellow forum buddies again (are we up for it again in 2008 guys?
).
Thanks CH for a great gig....roll on Nottingham this weekend.

Anselm, I have to ask, what is your impression of Time on Earth now that you have just seen them play many of the songs live? I think you did say you saw them live a few months before this concert, but just wondering what your impression is now. You and someone else were pretty critical of TOE awhile back, so I thought I'd ask this now. Also, do you find yourself revisiting TOE, which many a concert attendee does after seeing a live gig. This is not meant to ignite anything just an innocent, curious question to a more critical fan of the new stuff. Thanks!
Don't worry Jamie, I will even the score. And I actually shouted up for Lester first, so you shortened my request!!! Thanks mate!
What a gig, it was amazing. I loved the mash up, not because it was half my request, but I think it sums up CH perfectly. Ture musicians, and bloody nice guys. Going with the flow, and not afraid to experiment live. Fabulous!!!
I also noticed they had mics out to the audience so hopefully the gig may have been recorded. Can anyone confirm or deny this?? I know it is listed as a gig that can be bought but maybe it migth be a fan club release? Or maybe just recorded from the desk for posterity? Fingers crossed it sees the light of day somewhere.
Was meant to get to Wembely and sounds like I missed a hell of a gig. But Dublin was excellent and will keep me going. Good to meet some old faces and some new (Hi Ken). And not to be one of the tens of cars clamped after the gig!!!
Hurry back guys!!!

oh that's ok. Maybe it will be a fanclub release. It would be such a pity if it wasn't recorded as it was an outstanding gig
