I just found this curious item on TradeMe (local version of eBay). It appears to be a New Zealand pressing of "I Got You" with a special sleeve featuring the same geometric patterns that were later used on the laser-etched LP. I've never seen one of these before, just the plain red Polydor sleeves.
Interesting... nope never seen one of these before and never read about its existence. My guess is that it is not an official sleeve. There don’t appear to be any record company markings on it at all.
It's an interesting design, but my guess it's more like a generic paper sleeve for a 45 - the geometric shapes just happened to resemble the Enz style of the time. I found a fascinating Pinterest board of these sorts of sleeves (though that one isn't there). Gryphon would probably know more...
Not one we have in our archives either. I've emailed Noel and sent him the image. usually with radio/promo etc they are all still tagged on the cover art (Poly 64). If someone could ask the buyer if there are any details on the back (I'm guessing both sides are the same). The only oddity around Aust-NZ releases of I GOT YOU, were a small handful of coloured vinyl singles- that were sent to radio. I've only ever seen 5 or 6 over these 38 years. Bubble gum pink- the yellow Mushroom label. No picture cover, though a True Colours bio sheet was included with them. I have it marked down as twelve of these-and only for Australia.
