"I Got You" Live in Chicago (October 6, 2018)

Very cool indeed to watch them play Neil’s song with such gusto. He deserves every single opportunity to share his music with these big audiences.

I know it’s only the 2nd night of the tour but I can definitey see and share the reasons why Neil got into this. I’m loving every second of footage (music wise and overal energy) and hope it only gets better.

This comment about the energy is spot on - this is precisely what has been missing from neil’s work over the past decade or so ... watching him take his amazing oeuvre to a new audience with a rocking band is fascinating ... really the key thing to watch for me in this phase of his career

I noticed that in this and the DDIO clip, they are saying almost word for word what reviews quoted them as saying in Tulsa. Neil saying “it’s an honor to be with this magnificent band.” Mick saying DDIO “opened many doors in my heart,” never knowing the song would lead to this moment, etc.

It seems likethey’re following a script with on stage intros, and if it’s like past tours, the set list is basically set in stone. It’s all kind of antithetical to the spontaneity Neil and his various acts are known for. Neil and the band sound great though.

Slowpogo, an astute observation on your part.  Yes, the show is VERY scripted.  I was sitting extreme stage left for the Chicago show and could read the teleprompter operator's monitor from my seat.  Almost every word said between songs was on the prompter -- "opened many doors in my heart" etc.

Still, it was a great show.  The band looked like they were having a lot of fun.  Weird and wonderful to see Neil up there.  He sounded great!

That sums this whole venture up beautifully for me too.

Thanks for the insight!

Hm. I'll stick with Crowded House then  I mean stage directions fine. But I like the muddled-up lyrics (see DDIO thread), the weird diversions and non-prompted banter, even if the jokes repeat (You're only as good as your dismount, Neil.) On the other hand, with these ticket prices, you'll only go to one show anyway.

It's surreal watching this, but great too. I feel really happy for Neil. I hope the whole tour works out as well for him as it looks like it will based on these early shows. I can't wait to see them in Saint Paul on Oct 22.

I agree. Warm the heart to see so much love for Neil and his music. The band performs in Michigan tonight.
