What a dumb idea! Big Grin
hey hey take it easy....just doing this for fun. no sense using those words here. I just thought that some of those songs that Neil may have discarded or ended on B Sides were really CH songs at heart for Neil (and he may have been chomping at the bit all those years to use some of his ideas for CH use).

Just like thios last recording....hey, that was meant to be Neil solo work but then Neil realized he could reform CH because it sounded more CH in vibe. he could not have had this happen to him just this once, by fluke, right after his friend passed away and opened the door even more to re-form CH, right?
I don't think they should mess with re-recording Neil Finn solo songs. I don't think they'd end up sounding all that different. I do, however, strongly support the live performance of more Neil Finn songs. There's so much amazing material on One Nil and Try Whistling This that it's really ashame to just stop playing the song all together.

I was only suggesting maybe there was one gem that got lost in the B Side world (or even discarded on recording tapes and never saw the light) that Neil can look back on in a whole new light....much like he did during the TOE sessions, and realized "hey, this sounds more CH". This could not have happened this one time this past year with TOE, as stated above. He must have said this to himself a few times over the past years....and tossed a really good CH song onto a B Side or in the junk pile. not so dumb when you really think about it....
It's always interesting to see how polarized these debates can be. People sure do have some strong opinions about what may (or may not) be purely theoretical questions up for discussion.

At least it's lively. Wink

As for me, I'd personally like to see a Crowded House re-visit of the 'solo' song "Time on Earth." Then they should put it on the album right where it belongs. Cool

I think "The Spirit of the Stairs" quite OBVIOUSLY needs to be properly recorded by Crowded House. Hey, it took them nearly 10 years to finally record "Walking on the Spot" so there's still hope for "Spirit"!

You see, I probably wouldn't have considered "Spirit of the Stairs" as anything BUT a Neil solo song. But now that you've put it in my head as a potential Crowdie tune...I can totally see it working. Smiler

However, I can be a bit of a purist in some ways and I'd rather see Neil's 'officially' released albums maintained as his own solo work. I was introduced to those songs when he was a solo artist and I love them just the way they are. But, like Renzo suggests, I think many of his b-sides/rarities would work well as Crowded House songs.
