Just thought I'd let you all know that several CH/ENZ tunes are available (free) as ringing tones for mobile phones. Not sure if this sparks copyright/royalty issues or any such thing, but I figure it's a nice (albeit irritating) way to show the world where our loyalties lie.

So, if no-one has any problems with this, feel free to hound me for details. If anyone takes offence, I'll promptly shut-up.

And yes, of course I know there are many far better things to do with my time.

A couple of months ago, I bought a Nokia 3210. One of my chief reasons for replacing my phone was that I wanted to be able to make my own ring tones.

I've made a "6 Months In a Leaky Boat" tone (of the bit between 1st chorus and 2nd verse - the piece just before "Aotearoa.."). It came out pretty good, and unlike a lot of the stuff you can find on the net, it's pretty short (3-4 secs.). The best part is that I can always be sure when _my_ phone is ringing!

If anyone's interested, I'd like to share it. Only, I don't know how to send it to another phone. But I can always type out the sequence, and then people can type it into their phone's composer.

Why don't you guys post that info here. I've a Nokia 6185 and would love to know if I can get that on mine. Easier than you guys emailing every interested person. And as for copyrights, technically it may poop on copyrights, but then again, so does every fan site. Luckily, it seems the guys don't mind most of the time. Besides, it's not like someone is gonna burn and sell a CD of Nokia rings.

My phone now plays "I See Red" (the chorus) thanks to a VERY patient friend with a programmable Nokia. If he still has the sequence I can post that... it sounds ***** good actually, and I ALWAYS know when my phone is ringing (and it means I have a on my face & sound cheerful when I answer the phone!)
Here's "6 Months In a Leaky Boat" for Nokia 3210:

Plays at 70 BPM

16b1 16#g1 16b1 16#g1 4#c2 16b1 16#g1 16#f1 16e1 8.#c1 16#g1 8#f1 8e1

You'll have to check the manual for your phone to see which keys corresponds to which tones etc. If anyone works out the actual _key_ sequence (rather than the tone one), feel free to post it.

I don't think my 6185 can do custom rings. I'll have to keep looking. However, if someone has the Motorola Pagewriter 2000(x) or Timeport and has added the "Alert2000" app that lets you write your own pager beeps, I've a killer "Next Exit."

The site I found is primarily for Nokias but I think the tunes work for some others too (Erikson was mentioned). It doesn't work for all Nokias tho.

Anyway, the site is www.yourmobile.com
Go to the 'Australian' section. Click on the song title, fill in the details (email, mobile number) and they send it to your phone in a few minutes. I think they also have the text so you can programme them in yourself.

Songs available are Don't dream it's over,
Fall at your feet, Weather with you,
Better be home soon and History never repeats.

Oh, and to make this properly CH related, MAN! How BRILLIANT were Crowded House!?!
