Or anyone else who can help....

I know that two concerts were recorded when Phil Judd rejoined Split Enz, both audience recordings. One is widely known about in fan circles, the other is much rarer. Can anyone help me with the details of the more widely known recording? I need to know the exact date and location, if anyone can help. It's not a complete recording, and contains the following songs:

I'm So Up
Play It Strange
Home Comforts
Best Friend
Bergan Aun Zee

Jaffaman, I'm sure you know (and can you tell me about the other recording - I am NOT asking for a copy, only information).

Cheers,

Joe

Joe - those songs are from different shows - possibly 3 different shows. I seem to have mislaid my CDR with them on so I do need to listen properly but one show (incl Bergen) does not have Phil I believe and comes from Amsterdam I think.

I don't think I'm So Up features Phil either.

Play It Strange is from another gig - seperate to the other 2. I think (again !).

This doesnt help so much but a good question - I think I am partly responsible for the confusion as I sent a tape over 10 years ago to a girlie in Europe and labelled them all as 'Aylesbury 78'. This is not true, unless I've really got my wires crossed...

Jaffa ! Help. I can't be looking out old tapes and letters !!!!
Lozza,

I'm So Up, Play It Strange and Home Comforts are all from the same concert - there's no break between them. Judd is very much on I'm So Up, it's him singing with Tim, and there are two guitars on all three tracks, and three on Play It Strange - I suspect Tim is actually playing acoustic on this, as in some parts two electrics and an acoustic can clearly be heard.

Can you email me? We have seven year old unfinished business I would like to clear up.

Both are audience recordings. Aylesbury sounds good but Hull has very poor audio. These are the tracks that made it to tape so they might well have played other songs. I don't have exact dates at this stage.

Sorry for getting a bit off-topic here bit this is a question for Gryphon (or someone else); there seem to be more live-recordings from the Enz than I suspected. I recently joined the club but don't know about the 'range' of clubCD's. I do know that there are a lot of Crowded House liveCD's, are there also Split enz ones and if not; could there please be a possibility that some will be released? The tracklistings of the concerts above sound good.
Joe - you know my email address surely ?

Jaffa - you are such a sod. I've only heard clips of one or both of those shows and how can that be as I possibly know every Enz fan in England.... ? The band MUST have taped those shows - any more gossip there - happy to be proven wrong as ever..

Gryphon - there was another Hull for True Colours which went out on Radio One ! So along with Hammersmith, that's *at least* one other excellent sound quality recording out there.

Master G - nothing that is out there is worth releasing. All this stuff is keen fan recordings - tape recorders werent great in 1975 or 1982.

However. The are mentions in books of the band playing 'last nights tape back in the van' - someone must have kept them. Eddie I bet. Eddie was definitely taping gigs in 76. What is Eddie sitting on eh !?
A 1978 concert of mixing desk quality!!! Sounds like the perfect companion piece to go with a 'luton' cd.
i know there's reasons for not putting stuff out, but as with the dvd, 25 year old tapes won't last forever, so why not save the enz music for posterity?
So many quality songs were written in 1978.
It was also the time when the band had it's ultimate lineup, IMHO, Phil, Tim and Neil. What enz fan wouldn't sell a kidney to hear that?

Congratulations on the stunning DVD, absolutely superb on all fronts and a job well done. There must have been loads of stuff that was 'found', while researching the dvd so can we please have some more!
