You must have been reading my mind, Finngirl! I was going to post this exact same thing. Smiler

Seany, is Paddy's still on for Friday, Sydney? What about Thursday, Sydney? Anything after the gigs?

Tracy
I dunno? i just suggested Paddy's as a place to meet up, as people wanted to know what venues were close by. Don't know if anyone is going to turn up or not? i don't mind drinking alone, & it certainly wouldn't be the first time. Eeker Big Grin

i think people will be going there on Thursday as well. The place is open 7 days a week (not that i'd know from personal experience.), so im sure that people will be heading there before & after the concerts. Smiler

i am no great organiser, so if anyone wants to "organise" something, please feel free. Smiler
The problem in Brisbane is that the venue is a bit far out....any suggestions???? Maybe it would be best to meet at the venue. I know I have an hours drive to get there, going home will be an hour plus the 1 1/2 hours to get out the parking lot.

Paddy's looks quite nice to me. Don't worry, Seany, I'll be there, so you won't be drinking alone. Big Grin But, I know many others will be there as well. What time did we say before? Do you know if Paddy's is anywhere near Sydney Central Hostel?

I'm not much of an organizer either, especially since I live on the other side of the world and don't know where to organize anything!

Any Sydneysiders wanna help?

Tracy
Man, I have'nt been into Sydney City (except to go streight to the opera house or State)that I'll be lucky to remember where the Entertainment Centre is (well okay, I remember that much. Paddy's used to be great, have'nt been there for many years thu I'm quite certain it's central to, well Central (ala city centre) Big Grin
Paddy's is right near Sydney Central Hostel.
Just ask someone for directions to George Street, & walk down George till you see Hay Street. Paddy's is on the corner of Hay & George Streets. It's the corner that isn't a bank or a library, (there are tram tracks running through Hay street, if you follow them, they lead you to The Entertainment Centre. Ah local knowledge.).

& just to really confuse everyone.

http://www.whereis.com/whereis/getMap.do?ref=homeMap

I'll be the one sitting in the corner with a bag on my head, & a sign around my neck, saying "Handle With Care".
Only joking. Hope to be wearing a tour t-shirt with a bit of luck! Big Grin
From 6.30pm onwards maybe? Or 7ish?
Only hope i don't get chained to my desk at work. It's happened before.
The horror, the horror. Eeker

Sounds good, I'll be there, I'm the wide red head who has no idea yet what I'll be wearing. put ya hand up if you're with us Big Grin
I'll be there in Melbourne and hoping to make it to the Sydney meet up Friday -

(gadgetgirl, I hope you didn't mind me barging in with the Cafe Arena and Bridies addresses on the other thread for kira Roll Eyes )
Just happy to give someone, directions in my home town!! Smiler
Hey Kazzie ... I very much appreciated the help Smiler

So no probs ...

I'll be along as well. As I've stated ad nauseum, I'll be the nutty blonde American in the dodgy pointy shoes from 1986! I'll likely be in all balck or a black/white combo to go with the shoes. Friday will definitely be sporting a tour shirt Big Grin Tracy will know who I am by then as she must suffer the long plane ride with me Roll Eyes O.K., are we talking Thurs., Fri., or both!?! Seany, you'll come Thurs. as well, right?

I've suggested this meet-up to non-Frenz fans as well, I hope this is O.K. b/c I think they will be along! Can never have too many Enzers, right?

Hi Charlz,

Not sure which concerts you are going to, but Paddy McGuires in Sydney is not really an all ages venue (adults only i'm affraid). There is a Starbucks at the other end of the block though, so that might be a bit more Family Friendly. Also if you are going to the Sydney Show, there is a McDonalds literally right out the front of The Entertainment Centre. There are also heaps of eateries around the Haymarket area.
Look there's nothing quite like a hot chocolate or 2 from Starbucks before a Split Enz concert.

Lime green jacket? I don't usually wear my sunglasses at night, but erm.
Not sure about Thursday night yet. Still haven't got a ticket. Frowner Am working on it though. Smiler

You could still join pre-show festivities regarless of a ticket. Plus, who knows, you could score one that night!

If you're going to the Melbourne concerts, Cafe Arena is for all ages (6.30 pm before the concert). The after concert venue is only for over 18's. Smiler
Thanks for letting me come too.
We will be at the Brisbane, Melbourne and Adelaide shows.
I hope I can get in to more than the Melbourne meet ups but it's ok.

Um, (thinks hard until steam starts to appear from ears) i don't want to pay some scalper double the ticket price, just because it's Split Enz Final Concert! (or do i? Confused).
i am seeing a bearded man in a Hawaiian shirt on Platform 2 of Central Railway Station late on Sunday evening about tickets. Says he has some good ones apparently. Does that sound dodgy? If i don't post for a while, you'll know that they were'nt really front row. Frowner
THE BRISBANE CAMPAGNE CONTINUES

So that there are not transport mishaps (touch wood) it would be sensible to make before the meet up place to be in the same suburb as the venue.
Those who want to see Everless rather then EverMore can stay at the meeting place.

No suggestions means you will be meeting at my mini bar at my cheap hotel.(This is a rhetorical suggestion and by no means an invitation and not even a last resort.)

A word of advice from those of us who found out the hard way - while we are most of us nice, normal human beings who know how to behave, there are those among us who have no manners and don't know when to make a graceful exit. Frenz or not, my advice is to not invite anyone to where you're staying! You may end up regretting it. Big Grin
You're totally right Mrs HP! The worst that can happen is that people get totally smashed and make a total mess of your apartment! Or just walk into your bedroom to have a look! For what, I don't know.... Roll Eyes
so are we agreed on Paddy's = Sydney
Cafe arena= Melly

I'll phone a friend who lives near the Brissy venue tomorrow and ask if she knows anything about Virgina palms for Brissy, it's a large international hotel complex so you never know who may be around, dont know what kind of casual facilities it has thu, get back to you

Oh man, that sounds like Heavy Nova! Confused
It's been a pretty full on year for me thus far, but something like that would probably turn me into a jibbering idiot. Not that im not there already (pauses to jibber! Eeker).
& to think, i got my purple spandex jump-suite dry-cleaned specially. Frowner Guess the red velvet cape will have to go back in the moth-balls as well. Sigh. Oh well, what the hey. Count me in. Smiler

& all i wanted was a cappuccino. Smiler

My spelling is improving though, so that's one good thing. I did get cappuccino right, right? Eeker

Its best if everyone meets at the Ent Ctr in Brissie. The roads leading to it get a bit chaotic on a near sold out night.

There will be a gathering of many I feel under the LEFT handside of the balcony, as you walk up to the complex's MAIN entrance. Look for large pizza boxes and that'll be me & beloved at least. Its going to be a big night so there should be other food stalls set up in the front courtyard. (Well there have been other times for near sold out shows.) The bars are on the balconies above. Can byo drinks if you're discreet, or byo own picnic stuff. The Pizza Plaza Boondall ph 3265 2955 on the corner of Sandgate Rd and Stanworth Rd have excellent pizza's if you're starving and don't want the crappy stuff from inside the Ent ctr.

We'll be getting there early 6 pm-ish, and I'm going in to see Evermore, quite looking forward to their show.
Now we need organise a place to meet in Adelaide and Perth. All suggestions for a meeting spot for Adelaide and Perth will gratefully received. So pls post your brilliant Ideas.
Ta muchley.
G'day Everyone Smiler

Sorry I haven't posted for awhile on Melbourne meet-up topics, as I have been working in radio in Outback Queensland for the last two months!

I get back into Melbourne the day before the first Melbourne show - made it a condition on my contract!

Great to here the meet up is still on, with after the show everyone going to Bridie O'Reilys.

The only question is... how will we know each other there?

ALSO AN IDEA, can I suggest to Deb or PG that a Frenz of the Enz Concert Photo Gallery gets put online?

So for those that have digital camers and take photos of the meet ups and the concert can post online for all to see - how's that?

Anyway good to be back online and can't wait to be back in Melbourne for the show Smiler
(Now only if my footy Team would get off the bottom of the AFL Ladder!)

Cheers.

I think you can do exactly that if you're a member of the W2S section of this forum. Not sure how it works, but hey...maybe this is what W2S needs to take off.
Bump !!!! Smiler

so what do we's think about the Gov hotel in Addy, I've not been there, so cant speak personally about what it's like Smiler
I'll be there in Brissie (myself and "friend")...will keep an eye out for large pizza boxes (may be carrying one myself) or hamburgers from Blue Crystal Take Away (cnr Sandgate Road and Roscommon Road Boondall (07) 3265 3455). They had the best burgers in town about six months ago and as far as I know it hasn't changed hands since.
