I've listened to this gig so many on times over the years from an old battered cassette tape that I recorded at the time so it's great to hear it in great quality. For me this was them at the peak of their powers. I wonder how many agree?
I'm not sure, only because Paul was not playing in that performance. Peter Jones obviously did a great job, and it's a terrific show. But off the top of my head I would cite the London Apollo shows in 1993, or even the Live at the Ritz boot from 1991, as what I think of as the peak of their powers. And this clip is arguably among the band's very best performances of any song ever:
