Sat 18th November

If Australian fans call their CD/DVD stores today some of them will have stock already. I just did a phone around for some Melbourne stores & some are unpacking stock as I talked to them. Some stores have already sold out- straight out of the box to the customer....so it may pay to call your store first. Guess it just depends on how many copies were ordered. If the vibe continues I'm hoping Crowdies come in at #1 on the DVD chart which would be amazing. Interesting to see how the CD goes as well.

Re: Enz DVD clips- a few of them I had re done from our original FILM (I See Red for example) hence the great quality on some of those. Many of our Enz film canisters are in great condition as I had them stored in our archive area. The Film & Sound archive at Canberra have been pretty amazing about transferring stuff from film.

Thanks
Gryphon.

p.s. filming a segment for the Greatest Australian Album Show (Woodface) on Monday. As soon as I know the '07 air date will let you guys know. The camera crew are off to UK to film Neil & Nick as well.
Is there any doubt whatsoever that it won't debut at No.1 on the ARIA Music DVD charts? What else is being released this week?

The fact that "Dreaming" went to No.1 this year some four years after it was released (ok, it was discounted but a sale's a sale) proves the lasting popularity of the band. And considering FTTW is their first all live DVD, you can expect very healthy sales not only this first week but many weeks to come.

Now if you excuse me I'm off to buy the deluxe package - and that new Beatles one...
I definately like this DVDs chances of acheiving great things. I mean, it's the first day it's been available and there was a quite unusual ammount of interest being shown towards it sarvo when i got my copy. I checked both Sanity and Leading Edge, and in both shops saw multiple copies sold just while i was in there. Also, Sanity was playing the cd over the shops sound system and plenty of people were unmistakably singing along Smiler. I was a little worried i wouldnt manage to grab a cory for myself Eeker (but i neednt have worried, seems the shops for once have not underestimated...too much..the popularlty of CH. Anyway, it should do well, it deserves it. (How do you like my chances of not watching this until Xmas? Its supposed to be an Xmas present from me nominally to my Mum, but also to myself in a sneaky, underhanded way Wink I'd say my chances of holding out til then are...oh...about one in a billion Razzer).

Was Dreaming really released four years ago?! Yikes. I got my copy of that thisafternoon too, in a weak sort of attempt to console myself about having to try to keep myself away from FTTW for another month or more. I'm much looking forward to devouring it tomorrow. Absolute bargain too, $10 Big Grin.
Must say I'm a little worried about the lack of interest the music stores have given the DVD/CD out here in Werribee.

At the shopping centre I can report a big let down from the two big department stores. Both Big W and K-Mart did not have the CD or DVD on display... strangely though they have seemed to stocked up on the Split Enz DVD and the Crowdies "Woodface/Together alone double pack".

At Sanity, both the DVD and CD were out the front on their New release stand - both mixed in with other artists. DVD there was about $30.

Then I went to JB Hi-Fi, were on Thursday I had seen they had stocked on all the Crowded House CDs, including a huge amount of "Recurring Dream" which was discounted to $8.99

However today, sadly the DVD was not at the front of the store... in fact right down the back with the regular bunch of DVDs.
Still got it at a good price of $24.29 (that's the SE one too!)

I was about to post earlier today about the lack of promotion for the DVD/CD... but then it hit me like a Grand Piano falling out of the sky.

I think EMI have been laying low on this release, due to the U2 and Beatles album being out this weekend. AND with the 10th Anniversary of the concert being Friday the 24th, I see a bit of press coming up.

Mr. Green - is the Herald-Sun Hit guide doing a piece/feature article and review on it this week (for Thursday)? I hope they are, and with Neil and Nick working together again, that's some pretty darn good copy there for their Journos.

Anyway... I have my DVD now and am happy Big Grin

Peter H.
I knew I SHOULD'VE gone over to Sanity when I first woke up yesterday morning instead of allowing my parents to talk me into leaving it for 24hrs. Roll Eyes

I hope Sanity still have a few copies of the DVD left. Frowner Even if I have to ask the staff at Sanity to order one for me.
This time I'm not taking any chances... I'm going 1st thing in the morning. Wink
Success!!!
I went to Leading Edge Music today and managed to grab the DVD and Live Album for just under $50. Red Face If your local Leading Edge music outlet doesn't have the album on display then ask about it. I had to hunt for one.

$24.95 FWTTW 2 DVD Limited Edition or Standard Issue. (same price for either)
$19.95 FWTTW 2 CD Live album.

Just goes to show that it PAYS to shop around. Wink
Loved loved loved it - especially loved the Commentary by Neil and Nick and Mark - good to hear they are still naughty, naughty wicked boys!! laughed and laughed,(so thrilled Neil and Nick are back working together, their mateship and connection was very obvious throughout)but I have to admit that I felt Lawrie Zion was a bit out of place and really wasn't needed at all, Neil and Nick (and Lozza of course)could well have kept it all on track! That was my only niggle from the whole thing - but just loved it all, what wonderful memories; Paul was very deeply missed but greatly remembered, and as Nick said, "May he rest in Peace" - and yes, as someone else mentioned, Paul's drumming this time around just seemed absolutely sublime, he gave everything at that gig, thanks Hess, great memories! - THANK YOU to all involved in putting this together, it's a gem!
I agree PH81. I complete lack of any promotion at all in my stores. The DVD was in the normal section with the rest of them. Hopefully tomorrow will see some action.
Love the commentary. Great memories too.
Neil seemed to be bemused by the whole commentary thing, didn't he.
Nick made me laugh quite a few times. I'd forgotten how funny he is.
Still watching.
Lovin it! Lovin' it! Lovin' it! Only wish I could turn off the subtitles during the audio commentary. Roll Eyes
Its actually great to hear Neil, Nick and Mark talk without having to watch the P's and Q's for a change. Razzer The audio commentary is definitely not something that I would recommend allowing little ears to hear. Red Face

Throughout watching the entire footage of the concert and the behind the scenes docs, I couldn't help but become fairly emotional wondering what the 10th Anniversary commemorations would have been like had we still had the full circle.
Rest In Peace Hessie. Smiler

PS: I've just got to ask. When were the 'The Day The House Came Down' interviews filmed?

Can anyone say whether or not this DVD could be available in Canada? I mean, I'll try on my own, but with all the trouble I went to, to get the 'Something So Strong' book, It'd be nice to know in advance if I should'nt bother.

According to Peter's post here the release date for Canada is the 21st. I was meaning to tour around this weekend and see if any places had it early but didn't get around to it. Tuesday I will definitely head to the stores.
Bought two copies of each from JB just down the road from my place, one for me and one for the gf ( usually we buy one between us but couldn't agree on who was keeping it at their house Razzer ) I didn't realise there was a special edition dvd and was a bit dirty when I saw them in Sanity the next day. JB didn't have them. But I did end up saving around 30 bux Smiler

I'm not up to date on all the info but, on the commentary, Neil said there would be a home demo of Don't Dream It's Over released on the box set next year Big Grin brought a big smile to my face

umm... I've only just noticed this post in the thread and I've got to say that cover there is the one that I have and it's the "Special Edition packaging". The outside of the cover is a slide-out cover and the DVD case is made of blue-coloured cardboard that resembles a Digipak cover. Big Grin
Unlike other DVD covers, this one doesn't have a protective clear casing around it. Frowner
i have just purchased the DVD YEYNESS!!!!!.

i live in the uk, both HMV and Music Zone has it.

15.97 in HMV and 14.97 in musiz zone, although it was a pound cheaper in music zone this morning.

both shops only sold the special edition which was a bonus as thats the 1 i wanted amd i am not 99% happy Big Grin.

the only downside i have notice is its not really on show, where it is on show theres other DVD's around it which bundle it out which is a shame.

A Nirvana live DVD which was released last week is still on popular show and the new U2 DVD(s) seem to be on show alot, the FTTW was on the shelf but not many copies seemed to be on sale Frowner.

Radio 1s music dvd chart is shown below(for UK readers) and FTTW isnt in since its just been relased but hopefully it might be in there come sunday night Smiler

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/chart/musicdvds.shtml

i looked on JB-HI website and they had it but not on the homepage or nothing, i had 2 type it in and that is an australian entertainment store aswell, i was shocked, not unless they r hiding it Wink.

hehe well i hope the popularity goes up, btw does anybody know the australian music dvd chart website?
My DVD and CD was dispatched this morning... estimated delivery is Friday... and I can't wait that long Frowner

Hoping I get the special edition - the picture is the red one but only one is listed on the site... so who knows... bit worried about the possible damage it might recieve too... me + digipak is usually a bad thing!!!

Sounds great, much better quality than my bootleg cd copy, I heard it on the itunes Australian store but I can't buy it from there.

Won't be released in America until January, but Canada has it now. I am anxiously awaiting my copy in the mail! I ordered mine from CD universe, I think.

I was thinking that today.

I'd totally forgotten this was being released, until someone else mentioned it yesterday. I went and had a look for it today, found the CD racked in the new releases bit, but trying to find the DVD was a bit of a mission. It's not racked anywhere (at least not in Virgin, might be in HMV/Fopp/Other places), just shoved in the normal music DVD A-Z.

I actually don't think they've marketed it very well, I only know about it because I worked with the guy who put the DVD together for Parlophone earlier in the year; I'm on here and the CH lists. If I wasn't a member of the various CH lists and this place and if I hadn't met the guy putting the DVD together, I'd probably be none the wiser. It's all a bit Oh? Is there's a DVD out?? Confused really. Which is a shame.
Woo - arrived today!! I've only listened to half of the audio commentary so far... really funny!! Just stopped it around the place where the dogs leave Wink

And the digipak special edition is nice (and currently undamaged) but I don't think it will stay that way for long...

Anyone else think that the track listings make Throw your arms around me look like "Thow your arms around me"?? Is that a mistake or am I just being picky?!
