This has to be the BEST news I've heard in a long, long time.
I'm not sure if the artwork displayed on the web page will be the final artwork for the official release, but it sure as hell has got my juices going!
This is awesome and I am so excited that this is finally gonna be released after 10 years!!!
This has to be the ultimate testiment to the true genius CROWDED HOUSE were and a well deserved tribute to their memory.

Finally the wait is nearly over...

Now that is brilliant news. Funny enough, I'm more excited about this than the re-mastered SE albums or the reunion tour. Guess that shows what side of the Frenz toast my butter is on.

By the way, does anyone know if the artwork featured on the website will be the artwork for the CD/DVD?

Artwork for the release has not been 100% finalised as yet. But should be in the coming months

I know exactly what you mean Dazz - I'm excited about the upcoming Enz shows/remastered CD's but that's nothing compared to THIS news! I grew up with the Crowdies and I suppose the Enz were just a smidge before my time.

We've been waiting so long for this - I can't believe it's really happening. Please keep us informed Chris!

The farewelltotheworld website seems tobe down at the moment -you just get a Black blank screen!

I don't think I'd go so far as to call Farewell to the World one of the best Crowdie shows. The Corner Hotel shows were much more relaxed and musically adventurous. Yep. From memory, the missing tracks were Weather With You, Pineapple head and Throw Your Arms Around Me (maybe one more, can't remember). Weather With You was left off and a warm up gig version featured at the start of the video, but I have at least 2 different TV broadcasts, Aus and UK where the concert version is included. Throw Your Arms Around Me was included as a PG shot version on a club DVD, so that only leaves Pineapple Head unseen (apart from by the audience obviously)!

Forgot to say, although musically it's almost spot-on, I wouldn't class it as one of the best shows either. Some of the German broadcasts of around Woodface era have much more character and are a bit more off the cuff. Paul's Hairy Back bet for a start, or his cartwheels and somersaults all add to a time where they were playing as tight as they ever did.

I don't know why people are so wrapped up in techicalities..Farewell to the World IS one of the best Crowdie shows not because of how musically adventurous...it wasn't SUPPOSED to be that sort of show. It was one of the best shows because of the emotion of the crowd and the emotion of the band..it was their last ever gig together..THATS what made it so special!

Technicalities? What technicalities? I don't understand your choice of words referring to the quote you highlighted...Just because it was their last gig it doesn't mean it was their best. Everyone has an opinion and that it yours, fair enough. I think it was an excellent show myself but in my opinion, it wasn't the best I've ever seen. Sure, it was a grandiose occasion and all that added to the atmosphere but it was basically a greatest hits run through with not much banter.

If this indeed is the EMI project to celebrate the 20 & 10th anniversaries of the band, must admit I would be a tad gutted, I was told that there would be fan input, but this is kinda limiting it...as I wasnt there...which was bad enough in itself...now this will really rub salt in that so I will sulk :-)

Um, I hate to be the one throwing cold water on your enthusiasm, but that site looks a little "phishy" to me, first of all, it's full of typos, (I mean "please ensure you *the* have read the terms before sending"?) That's not the kind of phrase a professional organization would let stand. Plus, if it was really EMI, I think it would say so, not just "The Company." What is that, is it like "The Village?"

I don't want to contribute to this thread degenerating completely...but I have to say that while FTTW was an alright show and a special occasion and all, and I am very glad that one of their complete shows is getting an official release, it's kind of atypical. I have heard a few mediocre CH shows and FTTW certainly wasn't one of them, but of the 20 or so I've heard, I'd rank it 8th or so.

Little banter, little spontaneity or irreverence, sort of an act of closure more than purely intense performance. Again, I'm glad to see it released and will buy it the day it comes out, but I can't help but dream of a DVD of their famous London Odeon shows in 1993...

Let's just say that from my personal perspective, it's the sheer musical and emotional release of the show that makes it so special to me.

We all have different beliefs about the show but I'm sure we all agree that it is a memorable occasion that we will (hopefully) be lucky enough to treasure for years to come....at last!

Now...we just need to wait for the 'official' confirmation this is going ahead. I'm sure we won't have to wait too long for that either!

I must say I had my doubts too at first because the site said so little. Also, the T&Cs seemed a bit incomplete - but I'm no copyright expert so I'll keep my mouth shut . Hexed, I thought the same thing as you to start with when I looked at that site.

I think the Farewell concert is probably the most atmospheric, the crowd is huge and goes off, it's in front of an Australian icon (the Sydney Opera House), the playing is well up to standard (I thought it was great) it's filmed well, and the sound is excellent. I haven't seen any other filmed concert by Crowded House that looks as good (I haven't seen them all of course, but I have seen quite a few). I'm sure others sound better, but I haven't seen one that looks as good.

Multitracks also exist for it so it can be mixed to 5.1 I don't think many other CH cocnerts would be in the same postition, filmed professionally and with multitracks for audio

so happy- its becoming a reality!!!!!

Its definitely a legit site, I got to it by the EMI Australia website, so it's definitely them, and on the EMI Site, it says that it will be released on the aniversary of the concert, so i am guessing november.

You should be right, i checked on his website and it's very similar. But i didn't find information to confirm this.

Guys, that link or site doesn't seem to be working (getting a blue screen with 'get flash'- I have flash!). Is it just a "Mac" thing or is the site down?

That's exactly what my computer is doing when I click on that link.

I think we must be lacking something in our computers as I accessed the site on another computer and it worked perfectly....

Does anyone have an idea what could be happening as we already have Flash and it stills doesn't work!

Following the code source, it seems that this site is only testing browsers Internet Explorer and Opera, on Windows of course

Quite restrictive
But it still works on firefox

Not so, I can access it using Safari on a Mac. There's not much there, for those of you who can't access it. Just a statement requesting photos and a link to join a mailing list.
