Hey
For those of you in AUS with a JBHIFI near you they have put up their prices... $23.99 for the FTTW cd and $25.99 for FTTW SE dvd. thats like $50 total.
ps - i dont work for JB, i just spend lots of money there....
That is still cheaper then Sanity Music.
I checked their website yesterday, & both DVD and the live CD are up around the $31 mark... EACH!!!
Hmmm... A JBHIFI only just recently opened up near where I live so I might have to venture across there closer to release date.
And speaking of release dates, get this... FWTTW DVD and/or live CD released through Sanity's website 18/11?!?! Wasn't the release date for Oz 20/11?

I've heard people say stuff like this before about online sites... I think the way it works is the shops (and online of course) get the CDs/DVDs Saturday/Sunday of Monday release.... so sometimes online shops can send them out early... I would imagine that's the case... and the 18th is their date of delivery, and maybe when they dispatch your order?
It could be.
But I still think I'll grab FWTTW DVD and live CD from JBHIFI at Eliz City Centre.
Been dying to go there ever since it opened and this will give me a very good excuse.

Hey guys,
I work in an indie record store and can tell you that weekly release dates (in Oz) actually changed at the start of this year. Instead of the old Monday release date (or Sunday if you are a Sunday trader), release dates are now the Saturday. So all things being equal, Saturday the 18th is when you will find it.
I hope you all enjoy reliving the concert as much as I did.
All the best,
Stu

my copy has these words on the DVD lable, does anyone know what they mean?
"freigegeben ohne altersbeschrankung"
"freigegeben ohne altersbeschrankung"
The literal translation from German is: "released without age-restriction."
Maybe that means "unrated" or "uncensored."
Or that could BE its rating--like the American G rating, "suitable for all audiences." But there are some fairly raunchy moments in the show, so that doesn't quite make sense.
Maybe, because your release is an advance copy, it means "has not yet been rated."
Who knows...any actual Germans who would care to comment?

I´m no German, but I've learned German for six years in school. Slowpogo's literal translation "released without age-restriction" really says it all. I'm certain that this only is a classification of DVDs to inform which DVDs that aint suitable for children.

Thanks for the info.
listening to the cd, I forgotten how much paul was so damn good on the drums, he seemed to have a spark that was missing towards the end of his time with the band, I guess he got his mojo back

www.marbecks.co.nz have the NZ release date as Tuesday 28 November (they always put a day later to allow for shipping from the distributor). DVD and CD both $35.99 each.
Back to release dates (sorry i know i'm slow)
JB HIFI has their release listed as the 17th! which is friday. I'll be there nice and early! I'll shut up now. Just thought u might want to know.

Actually, I don't think the authorities responsible had watched the entire show... as German is my mother tongue, "suitable for all audiences" (while not literal) is the translation closest to the intended statement.quote:Originally posted by slowpogo:

Thankyou very much, no need to hush up, we must know these things. It's so close now......
UK fans. Just a heads up that HMV have the 2DVD set available as a pre-order for just £12.99. Is there a difference between UK and Aus? I'm sure I remember someone saying that the Aus version might have an audio commentary track? Not sure...
well read my post, i found on amazon a HK special edition version released the day after the UK release, nobody has answered about it yet so im not sure what this is
Doesn't HK stand for Hong Kong DVD release, it's generally used on Manga titles etc. Can't see a Hong Kong release this early though...Gryph?
i not sure its just that it said spec at the end of it, and when u open the amazon link it says special edition and thats what confused me abit but im going to ge the 2dvd disk from HMV as somebody pointed out, im not going to chance that one
Yeah, but special edition is also attributed to the UK version with the fancy packaging... the non-fancy packaging is considered standard... so I would think that may be all that's special about this other one you found Mark...
But really your guess is as good as mine...

But really your guess is as good as mine...

ok yeh well thanks for that, just thouhgt id let people know about it, i shall be in HMV 1st thing monday morning hehe, if i pre order it i wont get it until the day after and i like so want it.
But still why put HK spec, bizarre, anyways thanks for the help.
And if fancy wrapping is all whats special about it then fancy wrapping is what i shall go for
hehe

Ok, just got an email from the mailing list saying I can listen to the album in full if I either a) stick in a Crowded House/Finn cd and follow the instructions... or b) use a code on the website www.farewelltotheworld.com
Being at uni - I have no cds with me (I have 2 of the Enz remasters I just bought, but they're not mentioned)... so I went to the page to type in the code... anyone found where we can type the code in to hear the album?

For those who have not owned the concert on VHS since '97: Finnatics links to a full length Realmedia clip of Four Seasons In One Day right from the EMI promotion webservers. Enjoy!
Alx, I couldn't find it either. When Tim Finn used a similar function on his website a few weeks ago, there were a popup window when you entered the site. Perhaps it will work tomorrow ...

Actually sooner than you think. Most stores (if not all) will have copies on the shelves this Saturday the 18th.
Don't know why companies insist on saying things are still coming out on Monday. Maybe it's tradition but "officially" Saturday it is so I'll be down JB around lunchtime purchasing the deluxe package of FTTW and Beatles 'Love'.

Monday is the "OFFICIAL" release date but a lot of stores put merchandise on the shelves when the stock arrives. For most music stores that's Saturday.

Ok, it appears now on the main page... they've got a full 15 minute interview stead (The Day they Brought the house down) and 7 live video tracks... haven't watched those yet - just watching the interview...
You have to register, but it's nothing too taxing - more so they can send you emails about Tim (yes, that was the question!

So, it's www.farewelltotheworld.com and get your cds ready... Everyone is Here counts too!
Is it known anybody if the NTSC version will include some subtitle in the documentaries?
I found this information:
Screen Widescreen 16:9 Anamorphic
Languages English - Dolby Digital (2.0) Stereo ; DTS
Subtitles English ; German ; French ; Italian ; Spanish

Hey Frenz
I got the FTTW dvd. I just watched it and wow! I had the VHS version, which was ok, but the picture and sound quality is amazing! As well as all of the extra songs, it also has more banter between songs, including some crackers from Hessie. I wont give any away, as I'm sure you'll all have copies of it by this time tomorrow. I love the inclusion of Throw your arms - such a awesome song. I havent watched the special features yet. Anyway, well worth the wait.
Oh and for those who were concerned, there is far less fottage of the annoying yellow cleaning sign man thing! YAY! Still some footaage of crying teenagers (and others) but rather appropriately during throw your arms.

How am I going to last until my online order gets posted out to me????

Double Yay! That thing always annoyed me for some reason.
Glad you didn't give anything away, TWWYL, I want it to be like it's brand new!!
Remember, even if it's not on the shelf tomorrow, ask for it and it will probably be out the back!

I'm going to be at Sanity at Mt Ommaney at 8am in the morning....if they haven't got it, it's off to Indooropilly to JB, HMV etc.....come hell or high water, I will have seen it this time tomorrow night!!!!!!!!
Yeah I pestered the shop assistant for my copy (ash1296 I got mine from JBHIFI in Sydney - city centre). They will have them all on the shelves tomorrow. Apparently the cds were embargoed - so you cant release them early, but yeah the guys said they're all available tomorrow. And Like Kazzie said, if its not on the floor ask!
I watched the speccy features pretty cool. some cool demos of Instinct and Italian Plastic for the photo slideshow.
I'll shut up now, I just got an email about it and posted it here,

2 different covers?

Isn't the second one the "special edition packaging"?? That was my impression from before anyway...
Got the dvd last night and watched it through with the audio commentary - very funny by the way... I couldn't help but be a little disappointed though with the video transfer. When watching it on a large screen, it is noticeably softer than what I would have expected. Significantly, in fact...almost blurry in parts. No disrespect to the people involved who went through the no doubt arduous task of reframing all the shots for 16:9 widescreen, as I love a widescreen presentation myself, but I think in this case I would have sacrificed the widescreen to have the better picture. As it is now, there is a very "video" quality to the whole thing. I know it was shot on video, but I mean it feels like I'm watching a tape, not dvd, albeit a very clean new unwatched video tape, but doesn't feel to me like I'm watching this footage in it's most pristine form. I've compared it with the Anniversay clip on the Split Enz dvd and that older footage comes up clearer. But anyway, maybe it's just me... it does look very nice on a small tv though. At least there is the new ENZ dvd to look forward to which was shot on the beautiful sony hi-def cams.
