I had somehow missed this one!!  Which means I can listen to it now! 🙂👍

Thanks for posting.

“Lost Island” is one of my all time favourite Neil songs and one I had asked for in the madly scrolling chat window a few shows ago.

This has made my (Sun)day!

Love and best wishes to all, from a wet and windy east of England.

@Weightless Astronaut glad you got your request played ... it's quite hectic at times during the chat trying to keep up with the occasional tidal wave of responses after a song has ended ... these shows being a Sea of Joy we gladly dive into !

Quicksand [David Bowie]

... after show, Neil very briefly returned on Fangradio just to let us hear he'd won the struggle and re-MASTERed those chords ... how cool is that !

Once bitten ... FOREVER FANGED !

hmy, either that one-hour-forward-to-summer-time switch or my short term memory not serving me very well last night ... thanks for the corrections Thom and Guy.

Thoroughly enjoying these shows - do want to make an observation about the playing tho....

i really do feel elroy in particular is sitting behind the beat mostly on the crowdies tracks - interestingly he seems to have a better feel for liam’s songs than his dads ... and even tho many of his dad’s songs are staples of the canon!

elroy was solid on cold feet today but on previous days it really does feel like he’s ‘just playing dad’s tunes’...

For 3/5 of a band thats apparently been in session for some time working on an album i dont get the feel for a lot of intuition, sympatico, feel for eAch other.

liam and his dad have a better feel for mine ... but without saying anything personal im just not that into liam (except for everyone gather in the chapel, second chance and maybe cold feet)...

anyway just some observations from having listened to and enjoyed all these shows... i think them playing together will be a good thing for them seeing this is now apparently the anchor of crowded house.

three months or more of daily hit outs will be good for them (and us)...

I sort of agree with you, silent stream. I love love love Elroy's drumming on Liam's songs, and on some of Neil's. Sometimes I've found it a bit "meh" on the latter, but I don't know if that's because I'm used to someone else's way of doing it. Or maybe he just hasn't had the time yet to feel his way into it, and find his own take on these songs?

I'm really happy with Liam's contributions, I think he's doing a superb job.

Like you I've sometimes been surprised how much preparation they seem to need to sound coherent, but maybe I've just overestimated how much opportunity they've had to play songs together that I listen to every day 😁

The jam at the end of Take A Walk yesterday, however, was brilliant, and showed the very intuition that we seem to expect to come naturally.

I'm just delighted, though, that they're doing what they're doing. At first I was looking to forward to the Neil solo days more, but now I have a huge grin on my face when I hear after the intro that's its the three of them. Excited to be part of their process of working out how to get the best out of these songs.

Elroy is a superb drummer. Keep in mind the setting. What we’ve heard over the past few weeks are intimate, unrehearsed, very restrained, and quasi-improvised versions of the songs. To be fair to Elroy, he’s holding back because of the ‘campfire’  style arrangements. He’s probably also playing a three piece kit, and in at least one occasion was playing a kid/toy drum set.

In these performances I hear the same magic that happens when Neil and Tim play; the harmonies, the comfort, the unspoken familiarity that makes these types of performances possible.

For anyone doubting, go back and listen to the completely awesome and improvised version of Sinner from a few days ago. The song never sounded this good.

Just to add a final comment; Mark Hart will be sorely missed, but the future is very bright for Crowded House-Finnstravaganza

PS: all those of us who wondered about the origin of the INTRO tune to the Fangradio broadcasts .. from today's chat : "Intro Music recorded by Neil using sampled strings and timpani. Composed for a film but unused."
