I saw something on telly last night that REALLY surprised me.

I was watching an Eminem documentary on MTV (just channel hopping really, but he's kinda interesting - well, more interesting than Popstars) and they showed part of what I presume was a video in which our hero is a schoolboy in his bedroom with his girlfriend.

She kneels down in front of him, pulls down his trousers and says "That's a small one" before pulling a plaster (band aid) off his knee.

All the while, our hero's hi-fi is playing the unmistakable intro to our Neil's Sinner!

Anyone shed any light on this amazing occurance?

That'd be my guess... I am nothing like a fan of Eminem's, but I have noted that he occasionally has good taste in samples. For example, the first time I heard Dido was in one of Eminem's songs... the sample was lovely and haunted my days until I found out it's origin. Thus, the sampling was--at least in my case--VERY good publicity for Dido!

I hope Eminem does sample Sinner; provided he pays for the rights, gives proper credit in his liner notes, etc.

As long as it is handled properly, this could be a very good thing for Neil. And for Eminem fans/sufferers seeking musical enlightenment... Wink
I can't profess any great appreciation for Eminem's craft, but I agree with the notion in previous posts that he is smarter and more tasteful than anyone might guess. I think he is a great "entertainer" with designs on fame and glory but I also think his talent as an entertainer leads him to have a distinct sense of taste. What follows is his ability to appreciate everything from Dido to Neil to . . .
Wow.
I am surprised that so many Neil fans find it hard to believe Eminem would be a Neil fan...also I can't believe more neil fans DON'T like Em. I find him totally refreshing and original in his honesty about topics...sure the "I beat your mother" talk and the white trash crap are not great, but his damn songs are so catchy! I bet he DOES like Neil!

Was this same group surprised to find out Eddie Vedder was a fan of Neil's???

I was a fan of Pearl Jam before that fateful surfing accident Eddie and Tim had, when I received the PJ fan club single of "History"...I remember thinking, "No wonder I like Pearl Jam...they were influenced by Split Enz!"

I could totally see Em as a Neil fan.
I'm not a fan as such of Eminem, but I do have some musical respect for him and won't argue if someone pops his CD in on a long car trip. I find that a lot of his songs can be taken in a very positive way, and as an artist he's quite good. I haven't heard this new Sinner Sampling Song, but isn't the beginning of Neil's Sinner a sample of something (or two) anyway? Can anyone educate me on this?
ten bonus points to anyone who can count all the s's in that paragraph. lol

Did anyone find out what the name of the video was?
& off that note, in 2001 (2 years ago) while on his One Nil promotional tour, Neil Finn did a (rare?) television appearence on The Panel (Australian prime-time panel-like discussion chat show where guests occasionally appear) & Kate Langebrooke (sp?) - regular panelist who regualarly interups guests - asked Neil Finn if he likes E /\/\ | /\/ 3 /\/\... & Neil gave a proper answer. I can't remember exactly what was said, but if someone really wants to know, I can type up the transcript.

Followed by laughs!

I hope that's what you're looking for.
