CROWDED HOUSE/SPLIT ENZ FAN CLUB (FRENZ OF THE ENZ)

It occurred to me that a lot of Finn fans who are not members of FOTE use these forums and might be tempted to join the fan club if they knew what good value for money it was (very cheap IMO) and what benefits it can offer.

This is no criticism of Peter Green, who does a sterling job IMO, it's just a suggestion that might bring more Frenz into the House at little or no expense/difficulty.

Or am I completely wrong?

Please let me know if I've missed an obvious obstacle(it won't be the first time!) Smiler
we like it different passion & commitment

I, for one, would appreciate a little info, other than just "e-mail Peter for details"- such as cost, what do you get for it (newletter? how often?). I know you get the opportunity to purchase club-only releases, which is very appealing to me, but I haven't "taken the plunge" yet, just due to lack of info.
Usually information dictates the newsletter (and when it goes out). The recent one will be an Update sheet and a CH Christmas card . The previous a glossy newsletter. The next I'm assuming will be when Neil and Sharons Pajama Party (or Tim's new album) is released.

Also members get a membership kit-once more contents vary- usually 8x10 photo, m'ship card, col photo, badge if we have them, backcopy or two etc.

Being a club member also means you can sign up for the clubs VIP email service. Which is VERY handy for in between newsletter information. We also sends out any concert pre sale links for tickets etc via the VIP.

The membership price varies, depending where you live. Example to mail a newsletter to Europe costs more then Australia. (Australia is 60c Europe $2.30) so there is no one fee for the world, different per area because of the postal costs.

It's far easier for people to email me and I can just send them the information, providing they include the country where they live.

Club is coming up to its 31st year so I guess that alone speaks volumes.

Also we do keep a cap on memberships these days, simply because we want to maintain that one on one contact. Currently we have about 15 standard membership spots available.

Any other questions feel free to email (peter@frenz.com) you usually get a reply either straight away or next day depending on what time we receive your email.

Cheers
Gryph
Thanks for the replies, I didn't know there was a limit on numbers Gryph, but I'm sure it would be nice to have awaiting list Smiler Smiler.

Making that first email enquiry to join can often be a very big step so my view is the more info potential frenz have up front the better.

Wow. All this fannishness/club membership/concert tourism is a lovely way to spend some extra time and cash, and sometimes I chuckle at myself for taking part in it all.

But in the process I meet people like Neil, who opens the door for me after inviting me into soundcheck, Nick, Mark and Matt who have always been great fun to chat to, the cool fans who are great to talk to even 5 minutes after having first met... and at some point I would love to shake your hand, PG, for laying the groundwork for this network of fun, positive people, and that includes the artists. To me this, more than the fannishness, is what matters.

Hear hear Andi! Smiler
The small part of the club donation that will help animals-will go to the Animal Welfare League (QLD). Originally I looked at the RSPCA but they had their shelter totally destroyed by the floods (I know the AWL also took some of RSPCAs animals) so I thought they could use some $ as the feeding of all those animals must cost.

The main dollars will go to Australian Red Cross (and we accept any donations till this Friday Jan 21st- that afternoon we mail out the cheques).

Thanks to all of those around the world who have been amazing & supported this.

Probably too late, but while this subject is about the Fan club, I would like just to say thank-you to Peter for all his help and prompt response in any corrospondence I have had with the club.
Peter your personal touch is greatly appreciated, and though many many people would agree, it is just nice every now and then to hear a word of thanks for your efforts thoughout all these years, so thank-you very much mate.
Hi guys

I am a newbie both to the forum (and to the FOTE club). I can attest to Peter's prompt service; within a few days of my sending the money and stamps I got back the membership package.
I happen to be sifting through the contents right now, and it includes several past glossy newsletters, a signed Pajama Club card, a large vintage B&W Split Enz photo, some update sheets, a Crowded House pin badge, and a sales sheet. I may have missed a thing or 2, but it will all make for interesting reading, as will the forum. Thanks very much, Peter Smiler

I am very interested in acquiring fan-club only CD's, books etc, so if anyone has any extras they are willing to sell to a new member, please contact me.
Seconded re: Peter's prompt service. I was extremely impressed by the speed at which I received my membership pack, considering that I live in Belfast. And of course the contents within were great, too (the Temple of Low Men badge being a particular favourite).

I've already thanked him on Twitter, but a general forum based thank you seems appropriate too Smiler
Hi Siveld,

Welcome to the forum Smiler.

Hope you enjoy all the threads.

I totally agree with you, FOTE is a great club with tones of benefits when you join. I think we all agree that Gryph and Deb are pretty special, it's easy coming on here all the time to take them for granted when in fact they really make being a Finn fan fun Smiler.

So how long have you been into Finn/Split Enz and how did you end up here?
Thanks Guys-we do try hard. Just wish we had some more information, so we could put out a new newsletter, just a quiet period.

The clubs VIP emails however still come out in between newsletters so when we get some snippets a new VIP email will be sent.

To receive the VIP emails..just email me (peter@frenz.com). Put Finn VIP, your name & membership number in the SUBJECT area & keep the TEXT area empty/blank.

Thanks again for the kind words.
My first recollection of Split Enz is when I See Red was a big hit; I was a teenager in the late 70's and this song was a big hit at our town blue light disco's run by the police!

As I have been playing music (keyboards) since before I can remember (pre-school days) I naturally have an affinity to melodic music and hence I learned (usually by ear) to play a lot of the songs of Split Enz, and later, Crowded House etc. I always agreed that they songwriting was as good as that of their heroes, the Beatles.

I loved reading the story of Tim meeting Paul McCartney then escorting his step-daughter Heather to see the Stranglers!

The only time I have seen a live performance Finn-related was Crowded House in Brisbane last tour, and I thought that the performance (esp. Neil's singing) was better than on the records, which is rarely the case. he is a truly gifted man.

I do have most of the albums they have released in their various formats (the Finns I mean), but am keen to collect a lot of the special fan-club releases, so if anyone has extras or wishes to sell to a new FOTE member, please send me a PM.

Thanks, Dave
