A best of cd compilation with say three new/unreleased/live tracks would allow people who don't have all Tim's cds to hear some of Tim's not easily available cds, such as Canoe and Escapade. Also Tim did a couple of soundtrack cds that are not easily accessible. It would be great to have a track from a soundtrack cd on a 'best of cd' compilation. Best of Cds can lead to new listeners and fulfil the needs of listeners who are not able to hear some of Tim's music that are not readily available. Best of cds can also offer good value* for those who cannot afford to buy all the cds of one particular artist. (*Good value = Eighteen tracks with 75 minutes of music - an artist's mini 'musical autobiography'.
My favourite interview with the Finns was Richard Wilkins on the Today show, when Neil started talking about throwing himself off the balcony - almost like he was desperate to do so, to stop the inane questions! Soon as he did that, Tim sort of loped off - it was SOOO embarrassing, but very funny.

Off topic I know re: best of Tum DVD; but makes you wonder how on earth some people get to be interviewers...
I hope the producers will be wise enough, at least, not to put extra audio tracks (if there will be ones) onto DVD disc (again if it is going to be included in set) unlike special edition of EIH.
Anyway now (i mean period of 2005-06) could be the right time for this disc to be released because of growing interest to Tim's solo work.
Don't miss the time..
Hmmm true George for those that don't have the collection, I just realized Big Canoe is still on cassette tape not on cd, shall rectify that today.
Good idea there Alexey with the audio tracks on the dvd as well, spewing i couldn't play the songs in the car after getting yet another copy of Everyone is Here just for the dvd's and extra songs. I know grumble grumble so hard to please so many.

what makes you say ppl are interested in tim's back catalogue ? i've spoken to record stores and record companies and he's not selling.
Yes, that's the conclusion we came to albert, some while ago, after talking to Peter Green. This is what he said (see previous post).

"The problem with Tims clips is one of ownership-he's been with so many record companies...and they all own the rights..... and the club doesn't own copyright on any (sorry). "

So, we've admitted defeat for the time being.
I'll add my voice to this one too in the hope that we can move the record companies. Law's not my area, but why couldn't the proceeds just be divided up between them - either equally or according to the number of songs from their company? I think there's enough interest out there for it to sell well, and I for one would live to relive some old memories. It's been too long since I've seen any Tim clips - how cool would it be to have them ro look at whenever. How's about a chant?
We want Tim
We want Tim
WE WANT TIM!!!
With the Finn Brothers tour over after the 3rd of december surely Tim will have some time to devote to a collection of his works.
Maybe with any luck a new single to be put out with a cd(but we want a DVD!) of his wanderings of his music life. Maybe even re-record some of his work with his voice being so fine at this time.
Do like some of the changes he'd done live on the finn~crowdies~enz music so maybe some spins of his own.
Here's hoping.
Complete speculation on my part, but I'm wondering what plans Tim has after the 3 December show. We know that Neil is going to start on a solo album, but we haven't heard a word from/about Tim.

Tim may well be in a position now where he wants to just kick back and enjoy being with his family, and who could blame him - we all get to that point Big Grin I guess there's a possibility that we may not see a new release from Tim. The thought has been criss-crossing my mind a lot over the last few weeks Frowner

Which leads me to my point Wink It would be a good time for a DVD of all Tim's work. That way, he wouldn't have to be working on new songs, or being thinking about touring etc. After all, he has done such a lot of that over his life time - he's probably due to be in a position where he doesn't have to worry about that anymore Smiler Presumably other people could worry about the copyright issues etc - and Tim could let his music speak for itself Razzer

I must confess that I'm now a bit of a Neil girl after that last concert (much more so than I was anyway) *TR hides from flying eggs and tomatoes* Razzer Anyway, if only Neil is considering putting out a new album, I wont' be disappointed.

I still love Tim's stuff, and new material would be great, but I'm just wondering what will happen.

Whether he puts out a new solo album or not, I'd still really like to see the DVD go ahead.
Kelly - I'm wrapt that you've bumped this up again. Mainly because I hadn't thought of a fan club release Roll Eyes

We've got to have something. There are some gems of Tim's floating around out there just begging to be put on a DVD Wink

Peter - if you're reading this, would there be any chance of a club release at some stage?

I'll be fighting Kelly for her place on the list but we'll work that out between us Big Grin
Rather than see the unseemly debacle of you two fighting over who is to be the first, I'll step in and take over as the first - simply to keep the peace, you understand.

Fan club issue is a great idea, but presumably there are still issues of copyright and so on. Still, if we let the idea moulder, nothing will happen, right?

Man the barricades, paint the banners, let's go!

Your graciousness is a credit to you hk Wink

That would be 4 of us in the boxing ring slugging out first position Big Grin

I'd like to know whether a restricted run of Tim DVD's through the club would mean that some copyright issues were dealt with. There would still be the issue of cost, which may mean the whole thing would not be viable, but if it'll help I'll get down on my knees and plead Roll Eyes

I really, really want to see this happen Smiler
The only Tim clip I've seen is Through The Years, which I found by accident on a really old viedeo tape from 1984, just after an add for Harry Butler (remember him, the incredibly un-environmental nature show host?) and just before an episode of Worzel Gummidge.

Of course, having just typed that I realise I've also seen Tim in his platform shoes and ghetto blaster in the clip for Fraction Too Much Friction. Would be nice to see the rest, and any live footage would be great as well.
HK did you have access to Foxtel Max channel at all ?? Twilight sessions from 24th Sept
They played:~

If not it can be rectified at a later date. Big Grin
Well I saw Fraction Too Much Friction again just not long ago. I thought I remembered this clip, but realised I hadn't seen it in about 20 years, and also realised that I had forgotten most of it Frowner

It was a joy to see it again, and it was just such a brilliant clip, that I think it makes a case for showing it to a whole new generation of Tim fans, who may not otherwise get the opportunity to see all his clips.

And yes, I'd love to see Made My Day again too. Tim in the priest's outfit was really fantastic Big Grin Don't know whose idea that was but I reckon it hit a particular nail. Tim could have played the part of Father Ralph in the Thorn Birds, imho Wink

I don't remember that clip in its entirety at all either so that's another one I'd be hanging out to see.

Oooh I wish this would and could happen.

Just out of interest, is anyone here able to actually name all the Tim songs that had clips made for them. I was wondering about this the other day, and realised that I don't know all his clips.

If a DVD did happen, I'd be wanting all his clips catalogue included. Don't want much, do I? Roll Eyes
Actually, we've just read that apparently Tim's new CD is causing a buzz around the record company.

If that's the case, and the CD ends up being extremely successful, they may take advantage of it and decide to go ahead with a DVD Big Grin Riding the wave of success type thingy.

If we all say we'll have 10 copies each - maybe they'll consider it Roll Eyes

LOL. Well, when ya put it like that!

Hmmm, is our Tim worth getting a criminal record for? Wink

...Fizzy.

(So long, fare thee well. Pip! Pip! Cheerio! We'll be back soon.)
