I read a discussion here yesterday begun by Poptartjen announcing that she and other Frenz have VIP tickets for the ACL taping on Thursday. I can't seem to find these posts now, not even by searching. Has this topic been moved or deleted?

I wanted to add that a ChefK and I have VIP tickets as well and will look for other Frenz there.

Cheers,
Bob

Hopefully those of us on the stage floor will display some enthusiasm and energy.
At some past tapings, there were tables and chairs set up on the floor but I hope that those won't be there this time.
You do get a good view if you're sitting in the bleacher seats on either side of the stage. Either way, you win Wink

Agree on all counts. Our last time there was for Willis Allan Ramsey in 2000.

Bob, who once lived in Austin and who will again.
Hey this one is my fault.

Someone hit report post on one of the posts and wanted it deleted.

When it came up on my screen, it was the only post on my screen. I thought it was the only post in the topic because it was all I was looking at. It was like 6am here, so I may not have been the most awake.

Thinking it was the only post in the topic, I just hit delete topic as I thought I was doing what the person who posted wanted. I had NO idea there was other pages, and I am so sorry.

There is no way for me to bring this topic back. I am sorry. Sometimes the mods make mistakes, and this is certainly one. I take full responsibility, and wish I could put it back.

Sorry!
Bob,

I'm afraid I also had a part in the issue arising. Red Face

I'd realized that I'd posted some info on the ACL festival in the ACL television program thread, so had asked if it could accordingly be moved to that thread in order to avoid confusion.

Unfortunately, it sounds as though individual posts can't be moved, so Deb had tried to help out by deleting my post and encouraging me to repost that same info in the other thread.

I feel badly given Deb's good will in getting involved and trying to help out, and I apologize. Hopefully the most salient points from within the thread can be reposted by those of us who'd been participating in it.

Again, very sorry . . .
I realize I'm new here, but I'm certainly not new fan or new to the website. I just got approved this weekend for the forum.

I'm in Austin and I'm in school...well, back in school at 30. I've tried to work around it, but it looks like I can't miss my class tonight to go to the drop point.

I was wondering if anyone who was going to try to get passes might have an odd numbered party, or a party of one, or might even be willing to pick up an extra pass? I can miss class tomorrow, and I don't mind getting in line early and holding place for others.

Sorry this is a late request. I hope someone sees it. PM if it's possible. I won't get it until later tonight, but I will replay then.

The tables and chairs are pretty rare these days. It would have to be some one with pretty downbeat music, like a Nora Jones. I doubt you'll have to worry.
The setlist from tonight's taping:

Mean To Me
World Where You Live
Say That Again
Fall At Your Feet
Don't Stop Now
Heaven That I'm Making
Transit Lounge
English Trees
Four Seasons
Italian Plastic
Silent House
Pour Le Monde
Walked Her Way Down
Distant Sun

encore:
Locked Out
Don't Dream

More banter (with each other and crowd) than we expected given the format of the show. Little of that will make it to broadcast I suspect.

Neil indicated they'd be heading for Thai food afterwards. Anyone run into them?
I didn't run into them afterwards but on the way out of the studios I saw a woman with a large takeout order going into the elevator that I suspect was for them.

That was a fantastic evening. The taping went on for longer than I expected. I am going to the festival today but if I wasn't going, I'd be very satisfied with the taping experience. I stood on the floor near the front and center and despite the cameras moving around in front of me, I had a great view.

Most ACL episodes are devoted to 2 artists. It's rare for a band to get an episode just for themselves. It'll be interesting to see which songs make the cut for the televised episode.

And a shout out to Bob O - nice to meet you but I wondered how you recognized me.

Hi Gang, I located the PBS contact for Austin City Limits and asked when the CH performance would air on PBS stations. Nice guy answered within 2 hours, here is what he said: "It’s scheduled to feed to PBS stations on January 5th. Check with your local station for actual airdates (which will hopefully be the same night). s/Michael Toland, Manager, National Productions KLRU-TV, Austin PBS".

ALSO, there are some great photo's of the shoot, 20 of them, online at http://www.austin360.com/music/mediahub/media/slideshow/index.jsp?tId=34606

That's great news ; it'll be airing right around my birthday (Jan 6th) Smiler
What a nice present ! Big Grin
Thanks to PopTart Jen and Mike Mac for the photos of ACL. Already looking forward to January 5 and wondering if the box set might be out in time for Christmas. That way I won't "have to imagine things to keep myself warm."

I especially like the slide 20 out of 20 where Neil is getting some make-up powdered on his nose while Liam looks on with a devilish grin. Frameable.

Those are some *amazing* photos. I'm almost tempted to buy some. Really evocative.

And was it wonderful? That last pic when Neil's getting made up has Matt, Nick, and Mark with the most intense, contemplative looks on their faces. Like they were all replaying the evening show in their heads or something...was it great? Was it not great? Anything special? Maybe I'll call my local PBS station and ask them to make sure to get this ACL...

And I get a pang in my chest hearing about the boys scatter to the four winds, literally...

I saw a post on the ACL Festival messageboard and it looks like CH will be sharing the 1 hr episode in Janurary with Grupo Fantasma (an Austin band who've gotten some international attention by playing shows with Prince).

Jennifer
It's highly unlikely as very few ACL TV performances are released on DVD.

From the ACL website : http://www.pbs.org/klru/austin/backstage/faqs.html#pleaseiwantatomwaitsvideo

Are CDs or DVDs available?
As the programs are produced for public broadcasting and commercial release is not the priority, rights obligations have made issuing the programs on CD or DVD a challenge. Not an insurmountable one, however: KLRU has recently partnered with New West Records to begin releasing selected episodes from the archives. Information on the current catalog can be found here (http://livefromaustintx.com/). Also look for CDs and DVDs recorded at the Austin City Limits Music Festival, released by Warner Bros./Rhino Records.

It looks like the ACL episode with CH is still scheduled for January 5th. Earlier schedule information showed that the episode was being shared with Grupo Fantasma. But now the schedule shows that GF is sharing an episode with Paolo Nutini on Nov 17. The above link lists the current TV schedule. You can enter your zip code or state to locate the broadcast schedule for your area.

Our local affiliate seems to be the same. Very frustrating. We have quite a few local PBS affiliates though so maybe one of them will show it on the regular channel.
