I lost bidding on Ebay for tickets to the Rutherglenn concert, so I wanted to hear what people thought of any of the concerts at A Day on the Green. I think there's still some to go, but I still want to know!!

Pete Murray, Tim and Sarah Blasko at the GORGEOUS All Saints Winery would have been worth it! I went to my local Day on the Green with Angus and Julia Stone, The Church, Paul Kelly and The Pretenders and I had a BALL! Brilliant wine, food, atmosphere, weather, company and music! Couldnt have been a nicer day (unless I'd had Tim on the bill).
Tiawamutu I don't know that the Day on the Green shows are technically part of Tim's official tour of Australia, but in a sense they might as well be considered that now. He was doing stand-alone shows in Adelaide, Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney and Newcastle, but 3 of these were cancelled in December and seating and date arrangements altered for the 2 remaining shows:
Sydney, February 14th
Melbourne, February 15th

There has been little by the way of explaination about the cancellations, and it seems unlikely that any further touring will happen any time soon. Of course, I'd be happy to be wrong on this, but he is touring the UK in March and IK will be launched in the US on April 24, so I'd assume he'll do some sort of tour there also.

Back to Day on the Green, I'm now going to the show on the 17th, so I hope to provide a report on it.
I have a prior commitment for the 17th so I couldn't make it, for which I'm very grateful now actually, because unless the forecast changes drastically, they're expecting 38 degrees that day Eeker No way I could sit out in that.

Any and all reviews will be gratefully accepted. Smiler

I think I read somewhere recently where Tim said there may not be any more albums/tours etc because his family needs him. The call of family is an exceptionally strong one and I for one totally understand that. Big Grin So more power to him in his pursuit of it.

In the same article he then mentioned a possible album with Neil down the track Confused Perhaps I'm just easily confused? Wink Or maybe he just meant he'd take a long break, enjoy family, and then join up with Neil. I dunno.

Whatever he chooses to do he'll do, but if there's no new music for the next few years I sincerely hope that there will be a best of DVD/CD put together (separate thread in this forum for this).

To anyone attending ADOTG on Saturday I hope it really goes off. And remember to take plenty of water just in case the unthinkable happens, and they actually get the forecast right. Big Grin Razzer
I'd be interested to read the article or whatever you're referring to TR. Perhaps it's the one that was in the Age on Saturday that wasn't online. The Canberra Times had an article last week where there was a lot of mention about how family had changed his life and reinvigorated him - bringing about IK rather than a best of. This one also mentioned the possiblity of working with Neil again, but nothing about his family need him. If that's the case that's cool. He was away a lot in late 2004 and 2005, though it's still VERY uncharacteristic of him to cancel shows like that Frowner

Anyway, at least Saturday doesn't kick off till the afternoon, so it shouldn't be too bad. You know me with the sun anyway TR Wink and after the deluge of rain we've had of late it will be most welcome - in fact we'd feared rain.

Yes, I think that was it MK.

Its a worry that you don't remember the bit about his family needing him. I was sure I read that, but perhaps it was my interpretation only? Confused

The weather is still expected to be 38 degrees, and yes I do know what you're like in the sun Wink Tim, sun, MK - I'd say you'll be in your element. Big Grin

Have a brilliant day anyway, and I'll see if I can go back and check that article (if I can find it again).

It was a bit unusual that the cancelled shows weren't explained, but after this amount of time I'd say its highly unlikely that we'll get an explanation now.

Enjoy your DOTG on Saturday, and don't forget to review. Smiler (And don't forget to take plenty of water, and knowing Melbourne, lots of Aerogard Big Grin
I'm going to Brisbane on Sunday......

My Mother picked up this paper/mag today and mentioned to me that there was an article about Tim in it. It's not very accurate, but it's a nice article.....please don't shoot the messenger!!!!

Here goes....please excuse typo's, they make the reading more interesting!!!!!

He's played to zillions of fans throught the world but the man responsible for some of the most loved songs in modern tims still struggles with the hype that accompanies his stardom.

As he prepares for his second Day on The Green Concert, Tim Finn spoke to City News about his fondness of a Brisbane sunset and his passion for entertaining.

After more than two decades at the pinnacle of the music industry, Tim Finn still enjoys making a connection with his audience.
Whether he's strumming his guitar at the local pub in New Zealand or blitzing the crowd on the world's biggest stage, the eldest sibling of the famous Finn brithers is most happy when he's playing music.
"I don't care where I play, I treat it all the same," Finn said.
"I mean it could be 30 people in Wanganui or 3000 people on a summer afternoon, it wouldn't worry me, it would just be a matter of really trying to connect and make it magical for the people."
Raisd in Devenport near Auckland, Finn's first audience was his family when the hallway in the house he grew up doubled as a backstage room for him and his brother Neil.
It's now history that the Finn brothers defied their humble beginnings to become feted rock stars but despite the worldwide acclaim, Finn still refuses to take success for granted.
"You don't plan your success or your failure, you just try and create music and then take what comes, there's a lot of luck involved," Finn said.

After storming the international scene with Split Enz, the Finn brothers became mega stars when they formed Crowdced House.
And as he prepares for his second Day On the Green, Finn's enthusiasm still burns within.
"I'm starting rehersing today, I'm just going to do two days," Finn said last Thursday.

"I love doing the Day On the Green in Brisbane, I like going on around the magic hour, you know six o'clock, seven o'lcock, whatever." Finn said.
"The crowd is made up of different ages and it's a pretty loose kind of relaxed feeling, it's a good place to play.
"The sun is pretty much at full sunset, the light is starting to glow, you start to use your lights on stage a little and it's still relaxed, it hasn't got the night time starkness but it's got a soft magical feeling about it."
Tim Finn will be joined by Pete Murray, Tex Perkins and Sarah Blasko on the Brisbane Riverstage for A Day On The Green on February 18.

I'm yet to read the article in the Age. A friend has kept it for me for when I arrive on Thursday, so it's possible it was only mentioned in that and not the Canberra one *shrugs*

Thanks for the wishes. Now it's all that much closer I'm really looking forward to it!
