Visions in a thundery sky of anticipation

Speed on light and electricity

Tonight we fly

To sun-fire scape above the clouds

My quickened breath

I am your sound

How can I sleep?

You've awakened me

Sweat up a storm

Feel it break in me

Lightning strike the sea

May I come down gently

Thrown and falling free

May I come down gently

I would liken you

To a night without stars

Were it not for your eyes

To a sleep without dreams

Were it not for your songs (Langston Hughes)

What else is love for

But to leave you wanting more? (Tim Finn)

Ok, I've written some more. It still doesn't quite feel finished.

Grounded, cold and silent
No more standing in the rain
Yet I'm still waiting for the sky to clear
Your eyes lit up the stratosphere

Emotions raw
Please wrap me up in layers of sensuous sound
And take me with you
Coming down is not the issue
It's the prolonged state of earthbound
Very beautiful! I especially love,

"Grounded, cold and silent
No more standing in the rain
Yet I'm still waiting for the sky to clear
Your eyes lit up the stratosphere"

quote:
Lightning strike the sea

May I come down gently

Thrown and falling free

May I come down gently

Pardon me revisiting a thread that's 3 1/2 years old. I'm thinking of setting these words to music. What does everyone think? Could it work as a song?

Think I'll answer my own question and say no, I won't make it into a song. As it is a tribute to someone else's music, I couldn't try to express that with my own.
