Interesting to note that with Tim's recent avalanche of releases (four albums in under two years) it has brought the number of post-Enz studio albums by Neil and Tim to fourteen each. Plus the two "Finn Brothers" releases. That's near enough to a release every 2.5 years involving either Finn since the mid-80s.

Obviously Neil has been the more regular and Tim has been more fits and starts. Tim has had more strictly "solo" albums (9 vs 4), but no band work (0 vs 8) and more other collaborations (5 vs 2).

For me, the glaring anomaly is the relative paucity of Finn Brothers releases. They have mentioned that they would like to do another project together. With Tim firing again, now would be a good time.

I count 17 albums Enz albums for Tim. Not including North South East West.

Big Canoe, The Les Patterson Long Player, Tim Finn, Woodface, Before And After, ALT - Altitude, Steel City, Say It Is So, Feeding The Gods, Imaginary Kingdom, The Conversation, The View Is Worth The Climb, The First Maze (digital release), Finn/Manzanera - Caught By The Heart, ForENZics - Shades And Echoes, Finn/Manzanera - The Ghost Of Santiago, Finn/White - AT.

And then there's all the plays and musicals Tim's done over the last twelve years.

Indeed Jeremy. I omitted a few "minor" projects and included "Escapade" to get my 14...

Escapade, Big Canoe, Tim Finn, Before And After, Altitude, Say It Is So, Feeding The Gods, Imaginary Kingdom, The Conversation, The View Is Worth The Climb, Caught By The Heart, The Ghost of Santiago, Shades And Echoes, AT.

As you quite rightly point out, the "major" albums only represent a portion of Tim's complete output.

A bit of creative licence taken to get to my point that Tim has caught up to Neil, so time for a Finn Brothers album.

For the record, Neil's albums for this purpose are...

Crowded House, Temple Of Low Men, Woodface, Together Alone, Afterglow, Try Whistling This, One Nil, Time On Earth, Intriguer, Pajama Club, Dizzy Heights, Out Of Silence, Lightsleeper, Dreamers Are Waiting.

Good point made by Steve - Tim arguably has a "band" credit on "Woodface".

Would be interesting to see an analysis of which Finn has actually written the most songs. Given Tim's earlier involvement in Split Enz, plus all the material scattered on projects outside the "major" albums, I wouldn't be surprised if it was him, especially with this rush of recent albums. Then again, Neil has a lot of bonus tracks too, plus we have heard far more archival material from Neil than Tim. There must be a lot languishing in Tim's vaults.

Escapade wasn't post Enz tho as it came out before Conflicting Emotions. I love how Tim's making the music with who he wants: ForENZics with Eddie, AT with Andy and the Finn/Manzanera albums. He could easily have taken the more commercial route with a bunch of big label solo albums. But he's doing what makes him happy and turns him on musically. After a ten year break it's been great to get four quite different but equally brilliant albums in a roughly two year period. Plus there's a second ForENZics album done which is Tim's next album apparently.

I'd add the Rain soundtrack (2001) to Neil's post Enz albums.
