N.F.Addict ·
Perhaps whoever the webmaster/web mistress at the website got confused because the CD versions don't look anything like CD covers. When I brought all 7 just the other day at my local Sanity Music, the sales assistant went looking for the discs in the DVD section of their storage area behind the counter. The covers look more like DVDs then CDs. They are unique however because they all have a distinctive look to them & they look as if they belong to a specific set.

The 7 cds are "boxed" in a "tote bag" if you're lucky (twice) enough to get one , but I think that the "tote bag" is a freebie thru ordering from the CH/Universal website. I could be wrong on this but I have not seen any "box" promoted on this, only the "tote bag". Hope this eases the pain ........

There seems to be no outer box housing all the issues (unless you count the box it was delivered in).

I would have at least preferred to have an outer box to hold all these deluxe editions. It would make a nice display alongside my Enz box sets.

Have to say that of all reisueis, Intriguer Deluxe is most interesting to me, and will be first to pick it up (unfortunately not in material position to buy whole box set at once : Not only I am outcome "heretic" here who enjoys Intriguer more than most of previous material (both old CH and others), but it seems to me that there is on Intriguer B side more songs which was never released before in any version (by that I mean that on other B side albums we have many live versions of previously...

Yes, I popped them into an audio editor and there are visible glitches. The most noticeable one occurs at 1:31.90 but there are three or four others, They seem to coincide with percussion hits, which made me wonder whether they were just the result of too much top in the mastering/tape transfer but, as I say, they're visible as glitches and can be cleaned up. My speakers are (deliberately) very mellow with tamed highs and the clicks jumped out of them. What's interesting, is that I can also...

Instinct (York St) was on my list but not on Neil's. That was the case in 2006 and 2016. In fact, it was put on the Farewell DVD in 2006 because it wasn't going to be on the box set. Luckily, Spirit of the Stairs (York St demo) and Italian Plastic (home demo) were ok'ed this year.

I agree that the Thursday gig was better than the Friday. Thursday had a more upbeat set list and therefore a better party atmosphere - which is what I prefer in a gig. Friday was a more contemplative experience which is nice but through the middle section I was thinking they ought to pick up the pace a little, like maybe throw in Locked Out and get the gig pumping again. But, hey, this is a Crowded show and any gig is pretty frickin great - there are merely varying degrees in greatness. ☺...

I set my DVR, but don’t know if I will be able to convince myself to watch it. After hearing Lightsleeper, I am more confused than ever as to why Neil has joined this band. I don’t know if I can bear to watch Neil perform two classic Fleetwood Mac hits as a hired hand.

I think it would be a wonderful chance to see Neil happily being led for a change. Mixing his creativity with others and a blending of different voices may surprise. I’ll certainly watch it if we get it here in Australia. Just because I am more curious. Stevie’s voice has never been one I’m enamoured with but Christine’s music yes. Interesting times folks 🤗

Really ? I would think making that kind of statement may be the boot in the quicksand nobody needs atm. But I do like being proven wrong. In saying that Stevie wants old blues and with her voice and as a seductress in low tones I would love to hear her voice in a new set of songs that are heart wrenching and new for Stevie to play with.

Re: Complete Singles Collection?

Paul H ·
The thing is, how would such a collection be compiled? A great many tracks were only released in the UK, and some were exclusive to other territories. So, would a box be based on UK singles, Aussie singles or a hybrid? Would it be vinyl only (pointless IMO) or make use of the multiple formats that were issued on CD in the 1990s?

A tricky one . I started collecting the singles and had a list ( from somewhere) to check off from.I got them all save Better Be Home Soon which at that time was priced at £20.. far too much so I didn't bother. Most of the "singles" as you know were "doubles" with alternative "B" sides of live tracks and of course we have the special World Where You Live single which after 8 years or so shatters to small pieces without warning and Locked Out which becomes covered in some sort of plastic...

Hi Steve. I had one person say the same thing about www.neilfinn.com many months ago. It's a safe site but some older browsers or firewalls might have problems with it. The Crowded House site is set up the same way and, being brand new, it might take a while to gain trusted status. Are you using a desktop, laptop, iOS or Android device? Have you tried accessing the sites on a different device and via a different internet service provider?

Also, I've always thought their performance of Distant Sun on the Tonight Show is easily one of their very best performances I've ever heard, and I even speculated it might make it in the box set. Even though it didn't, I'm not sure what the ownership issues are, or if Crowded House has any access to that recording, but man, it would be wonderful to have a nice clean copy of it someday. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VRf9a98BMRc

My pleasure. I've kept it all bottled up for so long. It was originally supposed to be a US Capitol Records box set of unreleased, rare, and live tracks in time for the band's 20th anniversary in 2006. For various reasons we kept missing deadlines. Then Parlophone in the UK released Farewell To The World , the band reformed, EMI and Capitol started disintegrating, etc.. Thanks, Axver. I do believe it's good value. Each bonus disc is a whole album's worth or more. The books have great pictures, all the lyrics, liner notes from either the producers or music writers who know their CH, technical notes from me and interviews I did with Neil, Nick and Tim in July, talking about the songs, recordings and artwork. And the boxes look so good stacked up in a row.

The Roxy '87 version was originally slated for the box set in 2006 but was later added to the double CD edition of The Very Very Best Of Crowded House . It was also on various CD singles and The Other Enz. So it's out there and we didn't think it needed repeating. There's a good version on Farewell To The World too. Thinking of it now, perhaps we ought to have found another really good live version and put it on but by then we were concentrating on finding other things. The studio attempts...
