Re: Anyone else upset about the state of the world?
Canada is a really great country in so many ways (sorry for the shameless plug). I could go on and on I cant speak for other Canadians but I think many of us have mixed feelings about this situation (not including our Prime Ministers Communications Director who obviously is not a Bush fan). I think most of us feel that the U.S. is our more powerful, popular, wealthy and successful older brother (or sister). Sometimes you feel jealous of what they have and the attention they receive, but...

Gav yes I love the track suit/exercise stuff,,classic footage, and because itw as on Spellbound as you said we didnt use it as an Egg but its the perfect stuff for that. John agree totally...plus the other way the tv stations can make money is that, the footage IS licensed per territory..so we currently have paid for it for Aust/NZ....so if the Enz DVd ever had a USA release the ABC etc would get money again, same for a European release etc.....between you me and the gatepost we Zone Free it...

Yes, it bugs me a lot. I feel rather powerless about it, too. And somewhat voiceless... I happen to be living in Texas, the breeding ground for war-mongers like George Dubya... and the public opinion here seems to be highly supportive of this sh*t. Not that I'm going around asking people their opinion or anything, because I find its safer not to discuss politics with people around here... But if I can go by what I've seen on the bumper stickers on the big ole pick-up trucks that so regularly...

Re: Aussie Music Fans Please Help!!!
Thanks guys!! I must stress that the nature of this party is a bit of a giggle, basically we have to decorate our office in an Australian theme, and the music is just to add to that. While the neighbouring office has another theme, then the head of the division will vote on who wins!....it's just like being at school! LOL Anyway...my CD is done and the tracklist is as follows. (Remember it's all about setting an aussie theme, rather than actual...eh...quality!lol) I split it into sections,...

Re: Gig injuries
Well, I used to be pretty full-on at concerts, up the front, in the mosh pit etc... but I'm fairly well-built (height and weight wise) for a girl, and more than able to take care of myself. Probably the worst injury I got was at a (get this) Split Enz show in Auckland, and that was inadvertent. The guy behind me was being obnoxious and the bouncer (a VERY huge Maori guy) told the errant audience member any more of that, and he'd be out... anyway the guy continued being rowdy, and so the...

Never been injured watching a gig, been injured playing one though. LOL!! I was about 14, about the 2nd last show of our set, it was going off, got to an instrumental part of the song we were playing, i think it was 'total affair' that we were playing, or was it 'kings yact' ?? Can't remember, both suck anyway, thought they were good at the time though. LOL!!! Anyway back to the story.. I was going off with my bassplayer, and he did a jumpy spinny thing and cracked me in the side of the head...

Re: Gig injuries
Does a Tim Finn injury count? We saw him in Napier, New Zealand on Oct. 12, 2001...and during the jam session part of "Weather With You," Tim was twirling his guitar around, in preparation to go back into the chorus, and the end of the guitar whacked him right in the head, pretty hard! You could hear the whole crowd go, "OOOOH!" and it obviously had to hurt, because we were in the front row and heard the WHACK it made. It left a big red mark, and I hope he used ice later. Nobody would have...

Not so much an injury but a near death experience. V2001, Powderfinger had just finished and they were running out of time before Neil Finn was meant to be on, so my friend & I thought we'd be fine staying where we were (about 2/3 rows of people back from the barriers, roughly in the middle of the crowd) when on came some band whose name began with I. I think. I would say who but I'm not sure of the name (choice of 2 could be huge error if I get the wrong one) And the moshing started. Oh...

I've never realy understood what made Tears For Fears such a popular act in the USA, when they never really made it THAT big in their homeland. Sure they were popular...sort of more than ABC but not as much as say, Duran Duran or Spandau Ballet. I think they got quite a bit of college radio airplay and coverage on MTV when it opened in the US, so maybe that would explain it. Any US fans want to comment? Here in England they are probably best remembered for the singles Change, Mad World, Pale...

Great show last night. Arrived late and only caught the last two minutes of the Rhett Miller set. The band was a little less polished than last summer in DC - not surprising, given that (1) Lisa Germano was absent due to friend's illness, (2) first show on the tour, (3) preponderance of live "rarities" in the set. Steinberg needed to turn down the amp on his bass. About five songs in Neil asked who had been at the show last summer, and then who hadn't - sounded like about 60% of audience was...
