I have such a major aversion to pain (I'm a wimp), I know I'll never have a tattoo. The other reason is, my weight is about as volatile as Liz Taylor's (up and down, up and down...) and I'd hate to get something tattooed on a body part, only to have it droop or overexpand.... But, if I ever DID want to get one, it would be: a ladybug on my boob, or a musical phrase that went around my wrist (the notes for "dust from a distant sun").

I'm kind of an astrology freak and have many books on the subject, but yeh it's hard to do a birth chart if you dont know what time he was born. Anyway, if you combine the sun sign (gemini) with his chinese horoscope (dog) it says 'he often lacks inner balance, as he is always edgy and on the defnsive. He adopts extreme, conflicting attitudes, as if to emphasise the duality belonging to the sign of Gemini. The more he appears fatalistic and clear-headed, going out of his way to be derisive...

A very sad time. Uncannily, I put on Peter Gabriel's latest CD, Up, today and found myself listening to the last track, a lovely piano-led track called "The Drop". The words speak for themselves: moving down the fuselage toward the open door catch you looking down outside to see what lies ahead one by one you watch them fall fall through cloud one by one you watch them fall no idea where they're going but down where they've gone where they've gone watching as the sun goes down i sit inside...

Actually, you both are correct! There's a market in North Van (Lonsdale Quay) and there's the one on Granville Island. Both have their benefits: you can toodle over to North Van on the Sea Bus, which is kind of fun; and Granville Island is just plain big, with lots of stuff to do. Frankly, I prefer Granville Island just for sheer amount of stimulus for shopping, eating, and general poking around. But, hey, there'll be a bounty of red carnations at either place!! Aw, shucks, I'd be...

I usually dig satire, biographies, fantasy books. Lately, I've been into essay collections: "Diversity Dialogues," edited by Dr. Lee Gutkind, is essays written by people who have experienced different types of prejudice. The reason this is an important book, is the essays aren't just about racism, or even about things you'd typically think about. Pretty sure it's not the same shirt Martine (sorry), and as weird as this sounds, I also have one of those white & yellow shirts. Maybe they were made in bulk in Australia- my Mum mailed me one years back!!! So a few must of existed. From memory and it's a bit blurry but I can remember Neil's white & yellow hanging out back on the clothes line at Osborne street, and I had to save it from Lester who was basically chewing and trying to remove it off the line (maybe he wanted it too!!)...

It's far too hot in the UK too - I've no tips really to keep cool except to stay in the shade and drink lots of cool water (alcohol will make you hotter). I invested in an electric fan for indoors which helps get the air moving and keeps me a little cooler. A big bushman style hat is great for keeping the sun off your face too. The Perseids are one of the most reliable meteor showers, every August, and often have fast, bright meteors that leave trails. So, yes, Kia Kaha, that's probably what you saw!
