LOL! Liam, what the HECK was that, young man?! I love that Neil didn't make fun of him though. Guess he wanted more to do on keyboards I agree, Jeff, that was just fabulous! And SSS is great too. I get the feeling that they're saying "shove it" to the audience and they sound better with every song. It's great to hear.

That was cool, go Liam. How good was the last shot and close up of Neil taking his mental shot? Mark did great backing vocals on BBHS. Hey what were the guitars Neil and Mark both had for Locked Out? Both Gold Tops? That song rocked. Very good gotta love the net.

Indeed. Technology rocks. Neil Finn is the very definition of grace. I hope security dragged those guys with the half-gallon jug out of there and they missed Rage Against the Machine, it would serve them right. Loved the new stuff. Liam Finn--wow. More banter than I would have expected, given the venue and their short time onstage. Bring on the album and Summer tour Goodnight, all! Beth

Unfortunately, I think the band underestimated the hostility of some in the crowd. If they had it to do over again, I think they might've elected to go with more of the high-energy numbers. Liam cracked me up, by the way. On the other hand, they must've been aware that the American audience might at least be familiar with "Don't Dream It's Over" and "Something So Strong", so included them in the setlist. I was really impressed with how Neil fought through the bottle-throwing incident so...

Wow! That WAS great! Lovely suits, fantastic music, not to mention very, VERY courageous. Such wonderful professionalism shown by our guys in light of some appalling crowd behaviour. How fantastic was it to see Liam up there going crazy? You got it right Kelly, absolutley gotta love the net for making this possible.

that was an amazing performance, especially considering the audience seemed to be mostly stacked against them. Some people can be so rude but Neil & co took it well. Nick's typical dry wit & sending everyone up. Good onya boys, it can't be easy playing a festival set like that when you know that most of the audience aren't there to see you. I heard some good singing along at times though, so I'm guessing our Frenz were in fine voice. Set list for those who couldn't tune in: When You...

Wow. It was great to see them up and running again, but that was rough--mighty tough crowd, but it was also a performance that took a while to ignite. It didn't really start to gel until they began playing the new stuff (none of which I'd heard before, all of which I was surprised to find I liked a lot, despite my impossibly high expectations). That crowd sucked and the bottle bit was discraceful; likewise, going on before Rage is a blessing/curse--big crowd, but not the kind to lend itself...

How disappointing for the guys, but nonetheless, a great set on their part! They did a superlative job and should be congratulated for their courage and steadfastness. I think slowing things down was a good idea, whipping the crowd into a frenzy (NPI) might have escalated the behavior. Long-term heat does weird **** to your brain...that's why proper hydration is very important...and a banana or two wouldn't hurt, either. Just ask me, I live in the deserts of Arizona. Just got home, had a great time watching the webcast!!! My feed kinda stalled a couple of times, so I missed the reason why he stopped singing DDIO and I just thought it was a technical issue or something... had no idea it was a water bottle chucked at the man! Now THAT ticks me off. I mean, I do like RATM and I can appreciate their music and whatnot, not a huge fan or anything but I don't mind them, but honestly show some class okay??? The webcast didn't come thru all that well for me, and I had tried on 2 different computers. LOTS of buffering, and I never saw the bottle throwing incident. But of what I did hear/see, I did enjoy. Loved seeing Liam jumping around like a maniac. At first I thought a fan had jumped on the stage, then realized it was Liam. Glad I got to see them at The Glass House on Friday.

Sunset Swimmer, I'm not sure whether the bottle itself hit Neil. He said at one point that the microphone stand went over and he was "collateral damage." He also commented that it had been a pretty good shot. When the bottle hit, I knew something had gone wrong, but I didn't figure out what had happened till he altered the DDIO lyrics. He sang something about a bottle not putting him off; does anybody recall the exact words? Ironically, the bottle-throwing incident actually seemed to settle...

I confess I was afraid of how the guys would be received as soon as I saw the Coachella lineup--it was an awkward fit. That said, and despite the ugliness of the crowd, there were some really great moments in the performance--they played the hell out of Silent House and Locked Out, and while this crowd wasn't going to appreciate Better Be Home Soon, the harmonies were fantastic. I do wish they'd played In My Command, and I think When You Come was not a great choice for the opening in this...

a couple of things. firstly dolt - just because mark's quiet,it doesn't mean he hasn't got stage presence - for me he's got loads - so did george harrison. i also don't think neil will be losing any sleep over the fact that he could be perceived as "uncool" for saying that his son was part of the band.surely people will not base any decision on how cool a band are because a father and son are in the line up of the band - then again, this is" rage against musical talent" fans we're talking...

From the San Jose Mercury News: Coachella, Day III By Shay Quillen Monday, April 30th, 2007 at 10:20 am in Music, Shay Quillen, General, Coachella. Thousands of Rage Against the Machine fans this weekend wore T-shirts reading “The Battle of Coachella.” On Sunday, the Battle of Coachella was held, and Crowded House lost. Three hours before Rage Against the Machine’s first show in seven years, Crowded House attempted to play its first big show in more than 10. But if there’s a band less suited...

I'm listening to Liam's album right now...bought it at the Glass House show. according to the sleeve, it's a "super limited edition advance." per Liam, it's not mastered yet (I am not entirely certain what that means). anyhow, it is sounding good to me. he sounds a good bit like his dad in some places, but mostly he sounds like himself (no worries, I'm not going into a career as a music critic!). during his set on Friday, Liam said he was pretty happy about how his new CD had turned out. as...

Well, I just got back from Coachella - I was camping and then made the 6 hour drive back. I've skimmed this thread to see what people are saying and I just wanted to throw in my 2 cents - it's a little scattered and apologies if any of it's repetitive from previous posts. I went to the Tempe show on Thursday and it was absolutely stunning, they were on top of their game and the crowd was great despite a lack of promotion. I was surprised Weather With You was off the setlist, but that's OK...

This is a beautiful song!!! It is really moody and to me it brings to mind images of a beach on dark afternoon or a moonlit evening. I will guess that the slide guitar (very reminescent of Help Is Coming from what would have become CH's 5th) is the good work of Mr. Mark Hart and the backing vocals sound like Liam and maybe Mark too. I'm not surprised I like it so much, I knew this would be great. The CROWDIES are back!!!

Somehow that doesn't feel right to me, Tim as CH support... I don't think that would work And Liam, music wise a great choice, but he already supported the Finn Brothers. I think they should give that chance to some other artist! Not sure which one though... a NZ band/artist? Give them some European exposure, there are so many great artists in NZ!

What I'm curious to know is what these other events are listed on the ticketmaster site: http://www.ticketmaster.com.au/search?tm_link=tm_header...eyword=crowded+house Namely, "Crowded House with Special Guests 16 Frames & Liam Finn" and "Crowded House with Special Guests Pete Yorn and Liam Finn" All of which have no dates scheduled. Is there another round of Aussie shows in the works, after this November tour?? Are they for next year?? Will they also cover Sydney, Melbourne etc??

Glad you enjoyed the radio session. It was the first recording Crowded House as a band have done at Roundhead. We did it in Studio A . For soundcheck they ran through 'Heaven That I'm Making'. For the broadcast it was: Pour Le Monde People Are Like Suns Fall At Your Feet and a brief snatch of the Madness song 'My Girl' while Mark and Liam tuned their guitars. This was pre-recorded, beginning just before midday and finshing at about 12.45pm... and I had to rush it down to Radio New Zealand...

I don't have Say It Is So, Feeding The Gods or Imaginary Kingdom, so I can only comment on the first four. Escapade (1983) - Lightweight pop fare with typical run-of-the-mill production. Half the album is made of good songs (Fraction Too Much Friction, Made My Day, Not For Nothing, In A Minor Key, Through The Years), but the rest to me is filler. Big Canoe (1986) - More heavier songs, but the production seriously sticks out. Bit hard to get into, but worth it, even for just No Thunder No...
