hey this is so cool! my first one was a bit sad (it implyed that neil was dead) so I 'refreshed' the generator and I got this! "That's Handy, Harry! Stick It In The Neil Finn." or maybe this..... "Come One, Come All To Neil Finn." hmm this is interesting..... "Doing It Right Before Your Neil Finn." how about... "Neil Finn Just Feels Right." (so true) this is good.... "Make Every Neil Finn Count." (one for liam maybe?) hey cool.... "Neil Finn Saves Your Soul." okay so I'm getting carried away...

I've lost count of the excellent things he's done for me and my Frenz over the years... including giving us a job on the merchandise table at the Auckland 20th Anniversary shows... (selling t-shirts alongside a pre-pubescent Liam Finn, getting to meet Richard and Mary Finn... ah special memories!) As well as encouraging me to sell an article and pictures of the shows to the Australian music mag "Juke" (even if he didn't pass on the letters of praise...

Re: Pineapple Head

Taken from the discography elsewhere on this site; Notes In an interview with British music magazine Mojo in 1994, Neil told this about the process of writing songs: "Pineapple Head is an obvious example. It started with my son Liam who had a fever. He was delirious and I was standing by with a cloth to cool him down and he just started talking about all these things. "Pineapple Head! Pineapple Head!" The he said "detective is flat" and "getaway car". So instead of staying there and doing...

I thought the Water Rats show was excellent too. Did you all get a T-shirt? I do hope they get a deal over here. I went up & wished Liam all the best for the future. I felt really nervous doing it but I'm glad I did - they all deserve it. I thought the atmosphere on Friday was really good. Nice and laid back. I'm back at work tonight (hence the nurse icon - is that a nurse?) and I'm still on a high from it. Hope everyone else still feels good too.

Thanks, Buffy. I agree wholeheartedly about the uncalled-for crack about Phil. How much more positive a truthful comment along the lines of "He got the ball rolling, now, didn't he?" or words to that effect would have been. "Bitter"? Well...if there's a living artist out there who has actually imagined more previously-unheard sounds over and over again to less Rest-of-world, non-Oz/NZ acclaim, I can't possibly imagine who it could be. "Twisted"? I'm preferring a positive spin on that...

The rest of planet earth huh? I can think of many lead guitarists who are much better than Phil. Slash, Gilby Clarke, Eric Clapton, Lenny Kravitz, Liam Finn, Dave Dobbyn, Mark Hart, Stone Gossard and Mike McCready just to name a few. And whilst I don't rank Neil among the very best lead guitarists in the world, IMHO he's a better guitarist and soloist than Phil. I'm not at all saying that I don't love much of Phil's work, just that I prefer Neil as a guitarist. Does anyone know if Phil Judd...

OK, I'm going to betray my ignorance, but does anyone know if Neil has ever covered "Across the Universe"? (I've heard his version of "Two of Us" with Liam.) Is it a B-side on a CD single? I was a Beatles fan before I got into Neil, so I thought it was particularly cool when he mentioned that song, which I have always loved. I've always thought I could hear a Beatles influence in Neil's sound; nothing specific, just kind of a feeling I get when I listen. ... Well, enough rambling. "Dream...

Couldn't agree more. I've got both the CD and the DVD, but the DVD is well worth the extra cost if your gonna only be able to buy one. I have to say that the extras on the DVD (as in the interviews) make it even more worth while. Loved the interview with Eddie Vedder, especially since he very rarely does interviews. What was funny was listening to how Neil & Tim were his musical influence and then how Liam was really influenced by Pearl Jam and how he got Neil into listening to them.

Actually, I'm not a Pearl Jam/Eddie fan, but I was pleasantly surprised at how much energy he brought to the show. Vedder took to Take A Walk very naturally, and I See Red also is refreshing twist on there to me. It's all very honest to me that Eddie participated, and that section where he explains the link of being a fan of Neil's, and Liam being a PJ fan, etc. is a great story. It sure doesn't hurt that some PJ/Vedder fans were probably exposed to something new because of this release, and...

Re: NEWS: Nick Seymour Slams Neil Finn

Camus ·
Hi Secret God, I agree with what Seven Worlds wrote. I find it hard to believe that Neil arranged the songs totally by himself. There is a distinction here between writing a song, and arranging it. It's in Something So Strong that Mitchel Froom wrote the solo for Don't Dream It's Over. This is a solo though, so quite rightly he isn't credited, as Neil Finn wrote the song. Let's take it a step further, should Duke Ellington have credited Johnny Hodges (possibly the most famous of all of...

Hey there Camus . You seem to be more knowledgable (is that a word?) than me. <<<</B> I thought I better add that before I start talking about something I don't know much about . Having said that, I know there's a difference between composing & arranging! (not that you were emplying otherwise). You could be right in believing that Neil didn't "arrange" all the Crowded House songs, but I personally wouldn't find it hard to believe, considering he wanted to control...

Kelly Timtam ·
Anthology of Neil. Especially "Love is all that Remains" is that a Beatles cover? or Neil's own spin? Sounds like the Beatles song Tim's covered on Jules? and Liam O'Maonlai covered back in April on Rockwiz. Had some weird title though. Also since the Bath incident, been listening to Largo. Sounded like a great night.

In response to my comment, I am myself more of a Tim fan then a Neil, Liam or Elroy fan, I'm totally addicted to the Tim Finn and Before & After albums. Escapade was my introduction to Tim, but it's a bit 80s and poppy. So I gave the Tim Finn album a go and it grew on me. I just have to get Before and After! said by brain after that. P.S. My introduction to the Finns was Mental Notes.
