Ok, well it KINDA worked! That's actually the link to see all the pics I posted there, which is OK. YAY...it finally worked! I'm working on a web page. I'll post the URL to that when I'm done. Or maybe I'll even post it while it's still under construction. BTW, Arlington.....I LOVE the crayon TIE Fighters on your wall in the background!

Sorry, JL, but I think you might be on your own with this one. I like the bass sounds on 'Lord Nord', but that's about it. I'd gun for 'Double Happy', especially the live version from the 1980 'True Colours' concert. But each to their own.

K folks...before this gets too out of hand (and it seems like it's getting there in a couple of places...) My intent with this thread was NOT to pick apart specific politics or current events, BUT to express my fear and helplessness (in general) about the state of the world in order to: 1. See if I'm the only one who feels this way at times or if there are others, and 2. See how other people stay positive if they ever feel this way, what they do to overcome it. I attempted in my original...

Your feelings are partly hormonal, I imagine. Or maybe it's maternal. I developed a sense of criticality when pregnant. You're looking at the world a little differently - it's to be your child's future home - Dammit! and it - and everybody in it -better shape up fast. Then you have your baby and it turns out that the outside world is not as much of a problem for your child as the fact that he has you for a parent!! That keeps your mind off world problems for, oh, several years.

Good list, Bono . I think you pretty much covered it. Most of those songs are probably the ones you'd use to get someone into the artists. Donovan - Your list wasn't really all that much different to Bono 's (the one you ripped shreds into) - you just selected different bands with basically the same style... although your selection must be way superior! The Mavis's - cry george (probably not "party music", but classic stuff) Paul Kelly (take your pick!) Savage Garden (again, take your pick.

Fair enough. I can accept your majority very negative opinions Frenz. But IMHHO we should be encouraging MORE artists to cover Finn songs -as if 2 give them more exposure. Personally I would take it as a compliment if any1 covered my song, no matter who or what genre artist does it. Remember these/any artists spend their whole life working hard on their craft. Probably the worst injury I got was at a (get this) Split Enz show in Auckland, and that was inadvertent. Your description is the right one, it's exactly what I ment. Forget the "lacking". Neils songs are perfect within themselves. I too like TA is even better than Woodface, mainly because of its atmosphere. I also think that Crowded House wasn't ready to make an album like TA when they started on WF. Therefore it was good that Tim came along on that moment, it give CH a great album and a breakthrough in Europe. It's true CH ows a lot to Tim. Did you notice the difference? On Woodface Tim sings...

I've said many times before that I REALLY don't like that song, but the real reason for that is because it's WAY too catchy & annoying & looks like it belongs in the frickin' charts! There's no denying that Tim Finn did write a classic song, but when you've heard it that many times through your music-deprived childhood on commercial radio,...
