Well - Excuuuuse me! I was just trying to be hateful - and don't rain on my hateful parade with your positive reviews of the parade!!! (kidding - as you know) I used to be thankful that the balloons were so reliably tatty - I'm telling you that Kermit balloon spent Demi Moore-like sums at an exclusive spa during the 12 years he was away. w.c.i.b.n. - I couldn't be too sure, but I'd say that the "Major" 2003 Crowded House DVD won't include all the video clips from Dreaming (I think PG even said that, but don't quote me on that). Anyway, you seem like a pretty big fan of everything Neil Finn / Crowded House , so sureley money isn't going to get in the way of purchacing both DVDs...! I know Neil doesn't like people ripping off his studio work (He actually joined " Burn & be burned " - an anti-piracy orgainisation at the start of the year ), but I'm still not sure about his opinions on bootlegging. Ripping off fanclub CDs is obviously wrong (and you defenitley can't discuss that here ), but downloading unaccessible (any other way) live shows should be fine... (IMO) as long as you can justify it to yourself (I'm sure Neil wouldn't have a problem with someone obtaining...

It all boils down to this. If you purchase bootlegs you help to finance illegal activities and line someone's pocket with thousands of dollars for material that does not belong to him. However, for years and years, when reel to reel recorders were first available, people have been taping albums from libraries, their friends, from universities, wherever. With the availablity of cassette recorders, people have been making dubs of any and everything for decades. I'm sure some of you have...

I suppose it was inevitable that the end would come after twenty-five years, but it's still a little sad in a way. Arlington...what you've gotta do is: find your photo in the album and click on it. It should be the only photo on your screen. Now down the bottom left hand corner is a bit that says "link for auction". Click this. It will open a new window with the url for the photo...copy it & paste into your post using the image button below the posting area. Clear as mud? Agreement with Paul H on that note. boarderGurl - thanks for posting those quotes from Neil. Neil Finn 's pretty quick & witty when he comes to replying to things. He's also quite funny & laid-back, so I doubt he'd get all emotional at a concert in front of thousands of people telling the guy that what he did was wrong & illeagal & how the artists are losing out on this... Secret God, your friends are very lucky. As a longtime member of another community where live taping and TRADING of these tapes was not only condoned, but encouraged, I could never see making a profit from this. Wilco, on their website, also encourages their fans to record live shows, but very clearly states that this is for personal use and trade only.

Yep, the track on Other Enz is the same Finn/Judd composition, but it's not a genuine Split Enz recording as such. It was released as the B-side of a 1980 single by Graham Brazier (ex Hello Sailor) and credited to "A Ripper Bunch of Blokes." The "blokes" who played on the recording included Mike Chunn, Eddie Rayner, Rob Gillies, and Mal Green. Part of the tune was later used in "I Wouldn't Dream of It" on True Colours .

Well, Gryph', I forsee some karma for those TV stations that wouldn't help you. It reminds me of the Little Red Rooster story we learnt at school as kids. Just because the Enz weren't mega-stars (although we the fans know different), they don't seem interested in cashing in on a potentially lucrative market.
