Good point. I'm also pretty sure 100% of record sales from SAN!TY don't count towards the Aria chart either; they have their own chart (too cool for the rest of the nation ), so it might even be worth looking on the SAN!TY chart for Dreaming , although last time I checked they only had a top 50 singles & albums chart (not a DVD chart, but I couldn't be certain). Chart Update: Aria* haven't updated their DVD chart this week .

Re: A startling resemblance...

There's this guy at my old church named Gordon Lewis, in his late 50's, who looks EXACTLY like Neil. In fact, I teased him about it often and even brought in a photo of Neil to show him and his wife...they were very amused by the resemblance. I had thought tho, Julie, if anyone ever made a movie about the life of the Finn brothers, you'd HAVE to cast Ralph Fiennes (as the "current" and slightly younger Neil). Enz heydey Tim would almost have to be Ben Affleck. Little boy Neil? Haley Joel...

Damn. If the footage of the Enz doing running and exercise at Christmas 1976 in NZ in their black and white tracksuits hadn't been used in the 'Spellbound' documentary, it would have made a fantastic Easter egg on the DVD, lol.

Chiming in a little late here but what really amazes me (even more than the fact that the ABC didn't archive their shows) is their refusal to make some money rather than none at all (to paraphrase Peter). I don't know what the perfect price for it is but SOMEBODY there must realize that the value of this asset has a curved lifespan (like a Laffer curve if any of you are as dull as me ). We're probably in the maximum phase now and it's only gonna decline over time - how much demand do you...

I purchased the Split Enz DVD and I've noticed some little bits of interest that others may not have picked up on. With the video for Late Last Night, it appears some video wizardry was employed on this version which differs from the History Never Repeats version as it relates to the addition of some forties type black and white (or in this case brown) effects. And in the discography for Second Thoughts, the audio sample of Walking Down A Road is the same as the Mental Notes version which...

Epiphany! The bottleneck in this process is that in the absence of sourcetape (can't remember what you guys in the industry refer to it as), the cost of transferring/upgrading VHS to DVD-ready quality it prohibitive. There must be a zillion peripheral bands out that there like the Enz that have pent up demand that is not currently $ practical to warrant the VHS-DVD transfer. All we need is for some bright spark to create the technology to minimize the cost of this process. Unfortunately, I'm...

From what I hear from Peter, not every fan club member is into the internet, has decent access, or is interested in the forum. I think there are more like 13,000 Frenz of the Enz members, but being active here is not a must. Also, don't forget that I have it set up so that ANYBODY can read the forum but you have to sign up to post. So maybe we have 1500 members and 13,000 readers.

Probably the worst injury I got was at a (get this) Split Enz show in Auckland, and that was inadvertent. Although I'm a huge Neil and a not so huge Tim-fan, I do agree with you. Without Tim, Woodface would have been a good, but average CH-album. With Tim the album is more diverse and up-tempo.Tim give the album a fresh and uplifting sound. I always liked Split Enz and CH, but only became a huge fan since I heard WWY for the first time on the radio. I couldn't believe my ears! I agree that Tim made the record a commercial success - and not solely through his songwriting. Anyone I speak to about Crowded House always talks about Woodface being the record the brothers made after making up after falling out over Split Enz...and then they fell out again after Woodface etc...not very accurate, but the relationship between the brothers has always interested the public/critics and that has to reflect on sales. Also, Nick and Paul didn't play AT ALL on WWY? I find that a...

On my non-musically trained instinct ears WWY, ION, CC - the singles/songs represented most popularly on WF, Neil Finn takes lead vocals and sounds more like NF singing it all by himself . I've often wondered about this. On closer listening Tim does make a substantial singing input on those songs plus other ones on WF like the obvious classic Tim penned solo All I Ask (Which when I heard on the OZ Planet Ark...

Woodface, and consequently much of Crowded House's UK and global success would not have happened if it had not have been for Tim's input, as a writer, player, collaborator, singer and as a foil for Neil. Tim's Split Enz were a moderately sucessful NZ band until the introduction of Neil, who brought with him his fine songwriting, enthusiasm, boyish looks and good humour...this generated a few hit singles helped launch the band in the US and UK. Split Enz were/are with Mushroom, Crowded House with EMI/Capitol/Parlophone, EMI et al were happy for CH club CDs, presumably Mushroom have a problem. I'd also imagine that the recordings would need a fair ammount of work on them due to age, and this would all cost money.
